When I have some active weekdays - physical therapy - and I want a boost afterwards Jewel or Juice satisfies me. I had their smoothies many times over the years but since I've spending one day a week in the area I've rediscovered how much I enjoy a rehydrating smoothie with a nice balance of protein and fiber. Their specialty ones - Okinawan Sweet Potato! - are especially enjoyable because they're not overly sweet. The creamy, all fruit, or refreshing ones are on the sweeter side. The flavor combinations hit the spot with me. For a small shop, on the corner of Koko Head and Waialae, they have a solid menu with not only smoothie, but some nice looking acai bowls, and some baked items. There are a few seats with small tables along one wall. And the a/c on a hot day is welcome relief. I've been wanted to try this place and so glad I got to! They have a large menu of smoothies and Acai bowls. Any topping you could think of too! It's a really cute shop. It's small but we got a table to sit for a little while. They were so nice also. My husband ordered the li hing mui smoothie and really liked it. The entrance is right on the corner of Koko Head and Waialae. There is big step to enter and exit. The two ladies in the back were really nice. and even though we had to wait it was worth it. They greeted us when we entered and it was nice rush to order. Their menu also had very clear descriptions and listed all the ingredients so it made it easy to order. My son got the Peanut butter banana smoothie. I ordered the lava flow all fruit smoothie for my husband, and got a honey and nuts açaí bowl to go just for me. They were playing good music. It was clean and neat. I did notice was no air conditioning. It was peak afternoon so there was really no reprieve from the heat while waiting for them to finish. I considered leaving to the store next door and coming back because it was a pretty big order but my son was super excited. It was worth the wait because they filled the açaí bowl to the rim, all 24 ounces. It was jam packed with açaí sorbet and all the bananas and strawberries that were in the picture. I appreciate that they packed the granola in a separate bag with my spoon to keep it dry. The container was really good with a tight lid super spill proof. I will definitely repurpose it later. My son said that his tasted like the Jamba Juice peanut butter mood that he loves. And my husband drank his lava flow in 5minutes. I definitely call this smoothie run a win. read more

The number of times I've passed this biz as I'm such a frequent shopper in Kaimuki as the biggest problem for me personally is they close early like 4pm daily and 3pm on Sundays. Finally as I came up for some sammie at Sprout only to see that they're closed for a few days for the New Years was sadden only to realize that I'm early enough to enjoy a smoothie that would fill the void of a hangry mood. This cute little spot that sits on the busy corner of Waialae and Koko Head Ave with some metered parkings that I was lucky to find but knowing they have municipal parking in the back as well makes it a easy access any time for a quick sip. Walking in the vibe of this cozy spot is nice with a few seatings to enjoy your treat is greatly appreciated while looking at the massive menu is quite overwhelming from açaí bowl, healthier green smoothie and supercharged options to a fun dairy options while I was craving more of a all fruit blend. Lava Flow was the one and with the classic strawberry and coconut milk blend makes it what it is but adding some pineapple, honey and organic apple juice just kicked it up several notches though it was just a nice and mellow sip that I really enjoyed. Got us through the summer. They have been there for a long time- no parking but pretty good amount of metered, ticket parking in the area. One of the senior food businesses in Kaimuki town. One of my fave smooth shops since forever. Located in the corner across liliuokalani elementary and goodwill. There is plenty street parking as well as the municipal lots. Inside is very clean and bright. There are couple seats available if you want to sit down and drink. The service was great I ordered and got my drink very quickly. I got the li hing smoothie after a hike and it really hit the spot if you are li hing lover. A good balance up sweet and sour. Kaimuki has so many good eats and this place is one of it. Regular açaí bowl 16oz (~$9) - tart and sweet. I would say its on par with other popular health bars. Almond coconut smoothie 16oz (~$7) - real almonds blended it which helped with the thick consistency. Coconut was not overwhelming. Both were great on a hot sunny Hawaii day. read more

Stopped by Jewel or Juice while waiting on my sandwich next door. My memory of the inside was disorganized and messy (probably due to all the COVID precautions set in place since the pandemic). I asked for recommendations of green smoothies and the lady said Tropical Kale is one of the more popular ones. After ordering, I had to wait outside for my smoothie. Tropical Kale was refreshing and it didn't really taste like green smoothie from all the mango, pineapple, and apple juice mixed in. It alternates from being tart and sweet lol. I love acai bowls, but I'm also very picky with my acai bowls LOL. I like when it has a sherbet texture and not melty and soupy. This is my first time to Jewel or Juice and my bf really wanted to take me here. We decided to share the warrior acai bowl. Honestly I haven't had an acai bowl in such a long time, so I really enjoyed it. The acai held up pretty good until half way through but it's not like it melted down so fast either. I love fruits and I love to eat them as much as I can... maybe next time I'll try the deluxe as it's the same as the warrior, plus it has blueberries with it! I also loved the texture of their granola. Some places have super hard and crunchy granola which I don't like. I guess you can take a free banana when you walk in? Great service and taste. Love supporting local businesses and I had a doordash deal so decided on pickup. They allow an upsize upcharge so I did that in order to get enough to share. Got the acai bowl with peanut butter and almonds, taro smoothie, matcha smoothie and lychee strawberry smoothie as well as a spinach feta pretzel. Pretzel was expensive but tasty. I love the peanut butter in the acai bowl, taro smoothie was tasty with a hint of coconut milk, but I didn't taste any lychee in the strawberry lychee. Super delicious and fresh. My mom's açaí bowl was topped with a generous portion of fruit and was so good. My taro haupia smoothly exceeded my expectations and I would honestly go back just for that.
