Hole in the wall spot; extremely casual but friendly. Clearly an out of the way spot for locals. Food was adequate and tasty. A smallish dining area adjacent to the bar, and with smoking allowed, is probably avoid it next time for that reason. read more

went there on Monday right at lunch time and it was dead. We werent too sure if we should go in or not but i had read good reviews on tripadvisor so we gave it a shot..it was somewhat smokey in there bc you can smoke cigarettes but that doesnt bother me too much.. i ordered the mushroom swiss burger and my boyfriend got the southwestern burger or something like that..the burgers were HUGE! we should have split one bc i couldnt finish mine and my boyfriend barely finished his..the burgers were really good! the bartender did it all..took our order and made our food..she was sweet! we got ice cold beers while we waited and the beers were nice and cold which is always a good sign! it took a lil while for the burgers to come out but they were made to order so i expected that..and they were so fat it takes awhile to cook all that meat..i really liked my burger! his burger had too many jalapenos on it so he took off alot..i feel like they wasted alot of jalapenos on that burger..he said it had a lil too much chipotle sauce but overall he liked it. he likes spicy food and he said it wasnt too spicy once all the extra jalapenos were taken off..he took off about 10 of them and he still had alot on the burger so seems like they were overdoing it with the jalapenos..save money and use less next time! the fries were good too! the place looked clean, bathroom was clean..waitress was really nice and friendly..ide def go back but i would split a burger next time around read more

Yummy! Try the chicken salad...you can get fried or grilled, and they LOAD that salad up with chicken. It's so big, 2 hungry people can easily share, for under $10! It's such a cute little dive bar in the small Surfside community, but what makes this bar unique is that the food is actually good! read more

Nicest owners, fun little local dive, ordered the mushroom Swiss and it was wayyyyyy too cheesy and too many shrooms but still good. Probably just going to order a regular burger next time. If you can't stand cigarette smoke then this is not the place for you. I got a burger to-go and even in the 5 minutes I was inside I left smelling like an ashtray. We love the Jetty Shack! Awesome folks making Fantastic burgers! The quality and freshness of their beef, bacon and burger toppings was obvious in the product. I have to say, it's the best burger I've had on the island. What a great location too. We spend the day fishing the ship channel and drive the golf cart right down the road to grab an ice cold beer and awesome sandwich. The owners are often super friendly folks and will often greet you at the door. Highly recommended-(from a local). read more

Very good and cheap food. the service can be a little slow because not many people are working (2-3 people) but the service is fantastic and they are extremely nice people. Food is made fresh to order and comes out super super hot. Definitely will be returning anytime I come to freeport. read more

We came for Surfside beach & wanted a good burger for dinner. We were not disappointed! To the sweet couple running the place, you are doing amazing! It's a little town bar & the food is great! We ordered the Fried Mushrooms for an app, holy cow they were good! We ordered togo & the food was still fresh when we got back to our hotel. We ate every bit too. The sweetest thing was we did have to wait a good minute for our food, but they offered my boyfriend a complimentary beer while he waited & were extremely apologetic for the long wait. It wasn't too long though for just one person taking orders & the other cooking. SUPPORT LOCAL!! read more

Went here for the first time last week. It was the perfect dive bar with great food and great service. The burger was one of the biggest I've ever had and it was as good as it was big. I ordered the onion rings and they were amazing as well. It was just what I needed after a long day of fishing on the Pass. We were lucky enough to happen upon this place when we visited the beach recently. We ordered a chicken strip basket and a cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. The burger was generous in size and perfectly crispy on the edges. It wasn't one of those fat burgers that you can't take a bite out of but it was definitely a good amount of beef. The bun was fresh and soft and honestly, it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The chicken strips were very straightforward, however, the gravy that they were served with was absolutely delicious. I only wish we would've had more. This place is outstanding and I hope that they are thriving as a business. The people in the restaurant when I stopped in to pick up my dinner all looked like locals and so I kind of hope that this spot stays a hidden gem, so that their quality remains the same. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. Not a dive bar, a redneck bar. Food was not memorable, but it did take forever. Even at 5pm, there was a rowdy crowd cursing and yelling. Interior was embarrassingly dirty. To say that the staff is incompetent doesn't quite capture it; it seemed more like there was a lack of familiarity with how a restaurant is supposed to work. My friends and I decided to try out Jetty Shack on our way to the beach after reading all of the good reviews online. We saw that they allowed smoking indoors, so we decided to eat outside. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly throughout our visit. Everyone at our table asked for water expecting a free glass, but we were served bottles that we were charged for (and we were not made aware of this fact, or the cost, until we were paying at the end). I ordered the chili cheese burger. Our party was large, so it was understandable that the food took a while to come out. However, when it did, all of the orders were jumbled and some of them were messed up. The burgers were an impressive 1/2 pound for a decent price. My basket had a completely raw fry in it, which I'm not quite sure how it happened, but it wasn't a big deal. Just okay. We moved to Surfside 3 days ago and we were told my multiple people to go to Jetty Shack. So off we go. When we first got there the lady who started waiting on us was sweet took our orders right then. But the more people who came to the bar the less we were important. We ordered frito pie and fried mushroom as a "STARTER." My husband got the Jetty Deluxe and I got a party on a bun with fries. The food came out back to back. My mushrooms, my burger, his frito pie, then his burger. I was just confused on why the food came out as it did when the starters were supposed to come first then the burgers. The mushrooms were nasty, I ate 4. And I love fried mushrooms so got me not to eat them was big deal. My husband ate all his frito pie and most of his frozen patty burger. Being transplants from the great Northwest, we were looking for somewhere to eat after my husband and I rode our motorcycles down Hwy. 36 from Katy. I had read reviews on all of the restaurants in Surfside beach and had settled on the Jetty Shack. My husband and I arrived right before noon on a Friday. We both ordered an ice cold beer while we looked over the menus. The beer was definitely cold. I ordered the regular burger with American cheese and my husband ordered the Southwestern burger. While it took a few minutes to cook, the staff and locals there were very engaging and friendly. Our burgers arrived after about 10 minutes and they were absolutely delicious. Well seasoned with all the fixings. The fries were very hot and were seasoned very well. One thing to note, there is smoking allowed inside. This is new to us as you aren't allowed to smoke anywhere inside a business in Washington State. The good thing is that while there were some people smoking, you really didn't notice it at all. My husband and I both agreed that we would definitely make The Jetty Shack a stop when riding through Surfside. read more

Found this place by accident one after moving to the island and it has become our go to spot for many reasons!!!! The food is out of this world!!!!! Don't go expecting this to be a fast food experience, it's not!!!! The food is cooked fresh to order. And the staff!!!! The staff is amazing and all the patrons are welcoming and friendly!!!! Reading the reviews I had a lot of expectations for Jetty Shack. Walking in, I was unsure as to what to do. Do we seat ourselves or wait to be seated? It was difficult to tell what was going on with the dim/low lights and smell of cigarettes fuming the air. After standing there awkwardly, we were approached by the server, who was the only one working I suppose. She was a great server, she attended us and managed to work the bar. We ordered the Shrimp basket, Southwest Burger, and a BLT. When the food came out, we were very disappointed. The food was nothing special. Easily could make at home, but decided to pay $7.50-$9.00 for them. The food is pricey for what we were given, and the atmosphere is definitely not a family area. With the location, you don't have many options to eat from, but this one will not be one I plan on coming with family again. read more

This place has EXCELLENT burgers and really good fries! We recently spent a week in Surfside, as we do every summer. One day for lunch we chose to call in an order for take away. The burgers were fantastic - cooked and seasoned perfectly! One of the best burgers I've had in a loooong time and I'm pretty damned picky when it comes to a good burger! The fries were excellent as well. We also ordered the crab stuffed jalapeños - they were just okay. I wanted to love them, but they were just kinda like grease sponges. I would've given this place 4.5 stars, but 1/2 stars aren't a thing, and I only dock 1/2 a star because of the jalapeños AND the fact that they wouldn't answer the phone - so I had to place the order in person. HOWEVER, I'm not judging harshly on that because there was only one lady working, (cooking, serving, EVERYTHING) and it was during the lunch rush - so I doubt she could even get to the phone. And, ya know what - sometimes there are just days like that in the service industry. To be completely honest, I was actually pretty impressed with how she was juggling everything solo!!! SLOW and FILLED WITH SMOKE. So I tried this place with my two kids while visiting the beach in Surfside. "Shack" is a correct description. Run down and if you're a non-smoker, be prepared to be overwhelmed by the cigarette smoke. Not a great place for kids. On a Saturday at 1pm, they had one employee working - she was the bartender, waitress, bus boy and cook. Who could blame her for being stressed out and less than happy to serve us? It took 30 minutes to get our "to go" order of 2 hamburgers for $20. The burgers and fries were edible, nothing spectacular. Not a fast food fan but ... McDonalds would have been preferable in this instance, much faster, way cleaner, friendlier staff and a fair price for the food quality. read more
