I scheduled a cleaning months in advance and it was cancelled without explanation. I then got a request to fill out a survey on services that were not provided. When I called back to reschedule, I was told that the next appointment was in January (we are in august and I had already waited from March to July). I'm a health care provider and I can tell you that when I have to cancel a patient, my office staff picks up the phone, calls them to inform them, and tries to accommodate another appointment on the spot. Instead I got a text message and there was no follow up to try to accommodate me after canceling an appointment I spent MONTHS waiting for. read more

IF THERE WAS A ZERO STAR, I WOULD HIT IT. I have been mistreated by her and her staff which caused me further dental work, because she did not like my negative response to her office survey and she proceeded to terminate our patient/doctor relationship. Not only did she not examine me (as she was my "dentist"), but she allowed her colleague to pull a split molar out of my mouth. She then proceeded to terminate our patient/doctor relationship, and I was forced to seek other care to have the sutures removed from my gum. Because I could not go to Eagan's office for a follow up visit, my gum and missing tooth progressed to where the bone pushed against the interior of my gum and caused a bone "spure." I had to go to a periodontist specialist and had surgery where the periodontist cut my gum, filed the bone down and then sewed the gum back. If not for the termination of this dentist of our patient/doctor relationship, I would not have had to go through the excruciating pain and suffering. It is now October 27, 2022, the tooth was extracted on May 4, 2022, and I am still suffering with insurance issues and trying to get the money back from the surgeon that I had to pay out of pocket over $1,000 to get the surgery done. DO NOT GIVE THIS WOMAN YOUR BUSINESS. read more

Nobody enjoys going to the dentist, but dr. Eagan was very professional and most important: she made you feel very comfortable and relaxed, something I find extremely important when going to the dentist. I've had several really bad cases with dentists in Miami and I need to say that I am glad to have found Dr. Eagan. She explains in full detail everything that she recommends to be done, she appreciates questions and she is dealing with all your concerns (treatment and money wise). Another really important aspect is that Dr. Eagan, as opposed to several other dentists, recommended only what was necessary to be addressed and di not try to sell any extras. Her staff is polite and smiling, she was able to accomodate my appointments according to my schedule, she did a follow up after my procedure twice (once by phone and once live). I was looking for a well qualified dentist in my area and found Dr. Eagan was highly trained and after my visits, she has helped to reduce my anxiety of "going to the dentist". Her practice looks relatively new, but she seems to have so much experience and the best practitioner of dentistry that I have been, to have work done. Her staff is well trained and in sync with her exceptional treatment of each patient. The services provided are a great value, considering all the aspects of dentistry. I would never give any other dentist I have had over the last 50 years, five stars. She deserves the 5 stars in my book! My only suggestion would be, for GPS service, to inform the patient to use "1378 22 Street" instead of the Coral Way listing. read more

Lets face it, how many people enjoy going to the dentist. It is definitely not on my list of favorite things to do. I had gone to a dentist over a year ago on my insurance plan and although it wasn't a horrible experience, I wasn't overly impressed. I also felt pressured by her to get work done that I wasn't prepared to do yet. Therefore, I didn't go back to her and procrastinated on going to another dentist. My experience with Dr. Eagan and her staff was great. From my first phone call, I felt very comfortable. I spoke with Jenny who made the appointment. The appointment was far into the future and when i told her I was having a slight problem, she worked me in within a week. She even called a few days later to say they had a cancellation if I wanted to come even sooner. When I walked into the office, I was cheerfully greeted and given brief paperwork to fill out. After doing so, I was taken by Marilyn right away for a cleaning. She was very pleasant to deal with and explained a few things I wasn't aware of. After that, Danny came in to get X-Rays. He was also great to deal with. Dr. Eagan arrived within 5 minutes of my X-Rays and was AWESOME! She is very knowledgeable and professional, yet very down to earth and easy to talk to. She explained everything to me and it turned out the work my prior dentist said I needed to get done right away wasn't a problem at all. Dr. Eagan said there was one thing she wanted to keep an eye on, but as long as I was good about my 6 month follow ups, if anything was happening, she would be able to find it and it wouldn't be difficult to fix. I own two businesses, a real estate office and a medical office and consider myself to be a very tough critic as my standards are very high. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Eagan and her staff. If you are afraid to go to the dentist, give her a try; you will not be disappointed. I was a patient of Dr. Eagan when she was at South Miami Dental. I loved her and was disappointed I wouldn't be able to continue seeing her once she branched out (insurance reasons). Fast forward three years, I finally have a new dental plan that works with her practice. Despite having this new insurance for six months, I have not been able to see her. The issue is her front desk staff, they've placed me on hold for 10 minutes, dropped my calls or just flat out given me attitude when trying to schedule an appointment. The individuals I've spoken with lack basic phone courtesy and have completely turned me off to this practice, which is *extremely* disappointing as Dr. Eagen is a gem. read more

In general the office is nice and clean. However, the hygienists and administrative staff were not nice or welcoming. In addition, I left this practice because on two separate occasions the office called me less than one day before my appointment to cancel my cleaning for the next day. They told me I would have to reschedule because the hygienist could not see me for some reason (vacation, sick, etc.). They offered me times no less than two months later. When I asked to be put on a waitlist and called back, no one ever followed up with me to make a follow-up appointment. This happened twice within the same year. I emailed Dr. Eagan and received no reply. Suffice it to say I have a new dentist who is much friendlier and more respectful of my time. Let me preface this by saying I hate going to the dentist. I never get good news (probably because I never go) and I usually leave in more pain than I came in with. But I decided to go because I was in a decent amount of pain and in all honesty, chose this location because it was close to my home and they accepted my insurance. Walked in, and the office looked nice and professional, and the staff were as well. Because of the state of my teeth, I not only get to see Dr. Eagan but the Endodontist that works in her office as well, Dr. Knopf. Both were professional, courteous, and above all, didn't make me feel like a hooligan for not going to the dentist as often as I should. Overall, the office as a whole is great and I'm quite happy to have found a dentist that I actually like. I still hate going though. PS- prices are reasonable but it's probably a good idea to have insurance. It's totally worth it, but just a heads up. read more

I have been going for a few years and lately staff have been slacking on communication. Last time i was there i had an appointment for a filling and cleaning, I had waited for almost an hour for them to then inform me that they were only able to do filling only but not sure why. I had made a appointment recently and luckily I had called a day before cause I had found it odd they were not sending appointment confirmations like they used to do beforehand. When I had called and had given my information to the staff the way they sounded seemed like they couldn't find my booking. I was put on hold then the staff had passed the phone to another colleague to give me the news that they will be low on staff and that they were unable to assist me. It is ridiculous of the lack of communications on admins side. Doctors perform great but sadly front desk staff do not seem to empathize or respect the customers time they make to go to the office. read more

Let me just say... don't even bother making an appointment with this office. I was called 3hrs before my appointment to either come in early or reschedule (3 weeks later). Their excuse was that the hygienist had to leave early. since the hygienist was unavailable I asked to see the dentist for a check up without cleaning and another excuse.....oh the doctor is completely booked for today. This is pretty easy to figure out folks, they over booked me. Did I mention I was a new patient? I asked to speak to the supervisor to see if they can accommodate me earlier than march 10 since they but he was too busy to speak to me. There is no level of professionalism in this office. Generally a practice that accepts the HMO dental plans are not exceptional. This is the outlier. Dr. Eagan is warm, funny, knowledgeable and a really good and caring dentist. Her hygienists for the most part are former dentists in their original countries and know what they are doing. The office is stylish, clean and welcoming -- not words one would usually associate with a dental office, for sure! My whole family goes here now -- teen to husband. SCHEDULING however can be an issue, for general cleanings and that's the only reason I didn't put 5 stars. I have had to wait up to four months to get an appointment. But if there is something that needs to be looked at immediately (cap, broken tooth, tooth aches) they will fit you in. read more

I emailed 5 times requesting an adjustment to a quote and called 3 times to confirm receipt of this request and still never got a response. I wish I can give her a menus zero! This woman destroyed my teeth. I had a beautiful smile and wanted whiter teeth. She recommended veneers and destroyed my teeth to put horrible, fake venners on it. The sensitivity she caused was terrible. I was unable to open my mouth in the car because the AC was extremely painful and all was because of what she did. I spent more than 20 thousand dollars, 6 root canals fixing what she did. When I asked her to fix it she sent me a letter from her lawyer saying that I can not contact her again. She supposedly did two veneers without preparation and she lied. She prepared my teeth and lied to me. She put the veneers on top of the gum and new gun was growing under neath and saliva was acumulating and producing bad breath. Her job is poor and cheap quality and the worst part her answer was to send a letter from her lawyer threatening me. She destroyed my teeth. She is the worst "dentist" in the world. read more

Overpriced and eager to sell. Called for a consultation appointment and gave them my plan information to verify she was on it. Upon arrival first thing was to get me for full X-rays which I declined and explained again wanted a consultation to find out about porcelain veneers for my top front 6 teeth. She came in and was a very pleasant fast talker and suggested a panoramic film which was not needed in my case and I declined again. Upon request I received an estimate of the work needed which according to them wasn't cover by my plan and was given a $35 invoice, $10 for the consult and $25 for the panoramic that I had already declined and had been covered by my plan in the past. Paid my $10 consultation fee that I had not been made aware was to be charged with, (usually are complimentary) and left letting the staff know that I will not come back and will advise my friends and family to do the same. read more

I was offered to see her junior partner as the only alternative (he did well, but no points for her). Now I have to change an upcoming hygienist appointment due to an unforeseen conflict and I am told that there are no appointments for at least 4 months!!! I feel quite abandoned as a patient. She has been my dentist for over ten years, and I've followed her across town when she opened her practice with no regrets. I agree that it's not always easy to schedule a cleaning appointment (I take my kids someplace else now), but when it comes to dental work, I wouldn't go to anybody else. Dr. Eagan won't waste your time and money with work you don't need, she explains the procedure and the outcome, and she will make sure you are happy with it. She works closely with other doctors and the lab to make sure you are pleased with the end result (my bridge came back crooked from the lab three times until she finally got fed up and went there in person to make sure they did it right). First time client. Was very impressed with how the "billing" is handled. Someone comes in and shows you a detailed estimate of the services that are going to be done and you approve it all beforehand. And this happens for the exam, the cleaning, and I personally had a filling. Each time I had the same girl show me the estimate. Helps to be prepared for the bill afterwards. The doctor was very quick and brief in her exam which wasn't too personal. But she did a great and quick job filling my cavity and outside of her very fast personality she was very like able. This is by far the BEST experience I've ever had at a dental office. Not only was I able to get a next-day appointment but, I didn't feel a thing during my cleaning. I usually dread going to the dentist as I have very sensitive gums and this is the first time I wasn't in any discomfort after my cleaning. The office is clean and the dentists/hygienists seem knowledgeable and generally friendly. However, I have a BIG issue with having my appointments cancelled on me on more than one occasion. It is very frustrating when you plan your work day around taking time off for an appointment, only to have it cancelled because your hygienist can't be there (for example) and there is no backup. Shouldn't they have someone on call to avoid having to cancel appointments? At the very least, in such instances when the cancellation is not the patient's fault, shouldn't they prioritize those patients for a new appointment? Instead, you are lumped in the same pool with everyone else, waiting another 3+ months to reschedule for an appointment you were already waiting on for 6 months. The only other option is to be added to a cancellation list, which means you can't plan in advance and just have to hope that you are available whenever they call you. Lastly, depending on your plan, there are certain perks/benefits that you can't partake in if you skip cleanings, which becomes a risk when your dental office cancels your appointment and can't prioritize rescheduling you. How is this caring for your patient? Really disappointing. read more

My experience is similar to the review of Blandine C and some others. The office is nice and the treatments are fine, but the front desk staff is rude and dismissive and will not handle any other request than an appointment (they put you on hold and leave you there till you hang up). Along with that, like a lot of other dental offices in Miami, they add extra charges for things that are medically unnecessary (according to my insurance company) onto basic procedures like simple fillings, just to bump up the final bill. Stay away from this office of opportunistic dentists! Only after the money. We ended up paying 4 time more than what was originally stated on the estimate, with the office sending collection agencies after us... Not much we could do but pay - but we really feel cheated and the office was not understanding or helpful at all. All they wanted was $$$. So the least we can do is have other potential clients informed. Stay away! Here's the story: I transferred my kids to this office last spring; but then following front desk staff recommandation, waited several weeks before making 1st appointment as a specialist pediatrician dentist was going to arrive soon and it would be "better for the kids". Made 1st appointment in April, and dentist found a cavity. Also recommended applying preventive sealant on back molar for protection. Gave me an estimate for $176, and an appointment for May. During May visit, and upon completion of work (i.e. cavity treatment + applying sealant), I was presented with the $176 bill (which was expected) and paid for it in full. End of the story?? You would think. Me think not! Arrives September, and I start receiving letters from the office claiming that we owe them an additional $626??!! We genuinely thought it was a mistake (since I had made full payment back in May) and did not think much of it. I called to explain it was a mistake, but the office stars telling me that our daughter (who had turned 8 at the end of April) was actually not covered at all for the treatment she received back in May. Who's mistake?? Theirs of course. But then sure enough come after us the collection agencies (YES, THEY DID PUT COLLECTION AGENCIES AFTER US), asking for the $626. And here I hope you're seated while reading this: they were asking for a total of $802 (for a cavity + preventive sealant only)!! - Did a specialist pediatrician need to do this?? Absolutely not. Regular dentist would have done just as well. It was a routine treatment. - Would we have chosen to use a specialist pediatrician knowing it would cost $626 more? Absolutely not. - Would we have waited all these weeks (so my daughter would still have been under 8) if the staff did not insist that a specialist pediatrician would be better? Absolutely not. But even though it was 100% their fault and their mistake, who was presented with the bill? Us... And who are we to fight these kind of claims...? We did not want this to affect or credit, so my husband tried to reconcile with the manager. But the manager refused to meet with him (always busy on conference calls etc... No matter when we tried), and just had front desk let him know that he could settle this for an additional $350 (+ $176 + $626). Yes you read well. Because we did not have a choice, we did pay. REVOLTING!! In the end, through the collection agency we were able to settle for $469.50 (on top of the $176 already paid); better than $626 but still $469.50 too many... So this is what happened to honest people with insurance. So be aware, stay away, and SPREAD THE WORD!!!! read more

I wrote and sent to Dr. Egan the following email: Sent: Friday, October 06, 2017 4:29 PM "To: Jessica Eagan DDS Subject: CLIENT FIRED BY DR. JESSICA EAGAN Hello Dr. Eagan: I hope all is well with you and your family. Dr. Eagan, I selected you as my dentist in November 2013 and had my first appointment with you on December 9, 2013. I still have the receipt of services received that day which included Comprehensive Evaluation, Panoramic X-Rays, Vertical Bitewings (8), Cancer Evaluation of Mouth and Anti-infection Application of Gum Line. Since then I have been going to your office every 6 months for preventive dental hygiene, X-rays as needed and dental examination by you each time. To the best of my knowledge no cavities were found, observed or reported during this 4-year period. My last visit to your office was on September 27, 2017 for my 6-month cleaning, dental examination by the dentist, etc. You were not in the office and your back up dentist (D2) performed the dental examination after the hygiene part. D2 performed a very detailed and comprehensive examination and found a cavity on tooth # 11 (left colmillo) and an X-Ray was taken. What he explained to me left me totally cold. The cavity in tooth #11 is very large and one that has been in the making for a long time, like years and not weeks. He said, that the cavity is so close to the nerve that most likely after its removal there will not be much of a tooth left for a filling. He said that, most likely, I will need a root canal and a crown in order to save the tooth, which he said that functionally is a very important one since it serves as the cornerstone of the dental structure, force resistant tooth and it helps maintain your upper lips appearance. I could not believe my ears? I asked him how could it be possible with all the preventive services I have gotten from you and your hygienist for almost 4 years that such a cavity could be formed without being detected by the dentist pick or the many X-Rays that you have taken during this period. Dr. D2 found the cavity with the pick immediately on his very first examination ever of my teeth. I left your office in total disbelief of Dr. D2's report and decided to get an independent second opinion. I made an appointment with my previous dentist and he examined my teeth and quickly found with the pick the cavity in tooth #11. He had an X-Ray taken and said it was a very large cavity indeed that have gone unnoticed for a long, long time. He confirmed what Dr. D2 had told me regarding the procedure to be followed to save the tooth. He said that the hole into the cavity that you pick by the gum line is very detectable during an examination and the most probable alleged cause for the cavity to grow over such a long period of time is "negligence". The last X-rays in his files taken in year 2013 included tooth #11 and there was no evidence of any cavity in it. Dr. Eagan, I have made an appointment with you for October 24, 2017 at 11:30 am (first available date given to me) in order to discuss this situation with you and give you the opportunity to examine it and determine the best and most effective and fair course of action. Needlessly to say I am very disappointed about this totally unexpected finding. Thank you!" I arrived early to my appointment today 10/24/17 and I was escorted to Dr. Eagan's office by one of her employees. He remained present at the meeting as witness during the whole 10 minutes the meeting lasted. I had expected that Dr. Eagan would had offered some options to reconcile or resolve this situation of my lost of confidence on her services. My loss involves the potential permanent functional loss of my tooth #11 or the very expensive restoration involving a root canal and installation of a crown. She could have offered some options to fix the situation by the use of the services of her staff dentist D2 in order to save my tooth #11 and offer a discounted estimate for the repair process, etc. Instead, she became very defensive in defending her position as dentist in charge and not responsible for the decay history of my tooth #11. Very briefly she ended the meeting by telling me that she could not be my dentist anymore and for me to return to my previous dentist for the fixing of tooth #11 or find another dentist. As I was getting up from my chair she said that she would send to me (by email) all my dental X-Rays she had on file. I said Okay and that I was sorry for this conclusion. She said she was also sorry and I left her office. Definitely there is a process problem in this business. In my case, I am convinced there has been a progressive lack of attention to details by Dr. Eagan, as the business has grown. I have been to this office for cleaning once and had had a positive experience. I then returned to the office for a frenectomy with Dr Alvarez, a Specialist who works with Dr Eagan and that procedure was poorly managed. The procedure itself seemed fine, but the office and Dr. provided very little assistance and follow up after, even when I had a very long recovery period. For anyone familiar with this procedure, it cuts your gums open to detach tissue from the teeth, which meant open wounds for several weeks in my case and soreness for months after that. After healing and not improving my original condition, I researched some and found that results were indeed controversial. So fine, I should have done more research prior to having the procedure done, partially my fault. I decided to give the clinic the benefit of the doubt and planned to return for teeth whitening, a simple cosmetic treatment, the first time I would have that done. Because I had a procedure done on my gums before, I asked to be seen by dr. Eagan quickly before the whitening procedure, to clear some concerns I had with prior gum issues and sensitivity. I don't think that is an unusual request when you will pay $300+ to have the procedure done at the dentist office. The receptionist booking the appointment over the phone explained that was not the norm, but agreed to schedule me for a date that Dr Eagan would be in and could check on me. The day before my scheduled appointment the office called me to confirm, I asked if Dr Eagan would be there and they said she did not come to the office that day. I asked them to please cancel my appointment and explained again my reason for the request and that I was fine cancelling. The receptionist insisted to reschedule it, and to put me on a date that Dr Eagan would be in the office, I agreed. They called me the day before to confirm the second appointment, I asked again if Dr Eagan would be able to see me and all was confirmed. I made work arrangements and went to their office the morning of my second appointment. When I got there I asked if Dr. Eagan was in and the receptionist said yes. So when they called my name, I went with the assistant who would do the procedure to the room, where he explained it and had me sit on the chair. When he was about to start, with his gloves on I asked if Dr Eagan was coming to see me. He walked out to check and when he came back he indicated she had not arrived yet due to an emergency. I said I could wait if she was on her way, but he mentioned he didn't know when she would come back. He asked if I would be seen by somebody else or would like to do the procedure without the Dr. Eagan's visit. I explained that I had only made the appointment because I wanted to be seen by Dr Eagan prior. She had seen me before and would know of my condition and prior gum procedure done at her office. They then canceled my appointment and I left. Very unprofessional behavior to say the least. Would not have expected that type of treatment from any professional firm. A dentist clinic should take their services more seriously and go beyond the standard cleanings done by technicians. Respect for the patient's time and proper follow up are critical, so if you are reading this, please don't make the same mistake I made and choose a better practice. read more

Dr. Eagan was great but the office has cancelled on me on two occasions. I'm not sure why the cancel so often but that is a bit of an issue when you plan your work day around that time and take time off already.
