The area it is in is gorgeous and was not expecting to feel like I was in a different world. Appetizers that were supplied for the wedding were great, but I thought the main meal was kind of lacking and kind of inconsistent. I understand it's hard to cater for that many guests though. Most staff were pleasant and welcoming but had a couple of experiences where we felt very rushed and herded around the property. Despite my concerns this is definitely a special place to get married and a gem on this side of Austin! Lalala, Bob B.

The hospitality is very nice and friendly. The cafe uses high quality ingredients and the food is really delicious. We were there on a Thursday' night which was nice for the half priced bottles of wine all day. Well crafted cocktails are also available too. For food we dined on: Cold pressed watermelon - cold dense watermelon packed with sweet flavor contrasted against savory cheese and nuts. Really liked this dish. Little gem salad - simple but perfectly balanced flavors. Fresh. Crisp. Refreshing. Heirloom tomatoes - ripe tomatoes simply dressed with olive oil and salt. Crab cakes - these were tasty with a great sauce and pepitas. Steak - perfectly cooked to temp and served with grilled tomatoes. We were hoping for the duck confit which I've heard is incredible but they were old out for the day. They are open for lunch as well and brunch on the weekends (that menu looks good!). One that the menu is seasonal so it will change over time.

Everything in the cottage has been painstakingly assembled. We surprised ourselves by playing 1970s Monopoly (U.S. edition) that was kept in one of the cupboards. Keeping with the 'keep it weird' theme Austin lives by, you'll find a magazines dedicated to chickens, chandelier hanging from the tree, an old camera on a tripod (manual hanging from it) being used as a lamp and much more. Every detail of this place is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I were married here in April 2024 and we seriously talk about this venue and all of its magic at least once a week since then. We wanted to have a small intimate gathering that had a very organic look. In the spring, this place really comes to life, the birds, the butterflies, the way the light shines through the windows in La Casa De Joy, everything felt like a fairytale. The venue is tucked away in a sweet lakeside neighborhood as well so the drive there in the spring is country roads lined with wildflowers and bluebonnets which was an added plus. We rented the entire venue and had some guests stay in the other houses on the property while we stayed in La Casa De Joy and everyone absolutely loved it. We heard nothing but positive things from every guest. Such a unique venue. Not to mention, Travis, the property manager was an absolute delight to work with. Really so so kind and understanding of our wants and needs and was truly there to answer any questions we had. We will definitely be coming back to relive our wedding day each year with a stay at La Casa De Joy. Truly such a gem of an experience. My highest recommendations to anyone looking to relax, reconnect, breathe and just be present. Go to this place!!

Our 2nd-floor room was spacious and comfortable, especially the bed, and a row of windows afforded a pleasant garden view. We had a lovely time and I wish we'd actually spent more time lounging around rather than spending our days on the town. The grounds are gorgeous and make you feel like you're in a little oasis. We stayed in the Lady Stephanie room, which was very pretty in the frilly vintage style that is the trademark of B&Bs. Our A/C *mostly* worked. It only got the temperature down to like 78 degrees, I'd say, so still a little on the warm side, but still a relief when it was 90 degrees outside. My one disappointment was that the bed was extra extra firm, which some people will like, but I found it too hard to be truly comfy. We slept fine, but would have preferred a softer mattress. Breakfast is fairly formal--a sit down meal at 9 am with eggs, biscuits, and muffins served on fancy china. Barbara and Co were very friendly, but gave us plenty of space so we didn't feel crowded. I was very impressed that they anticipated all the answers to our questions by providing notes posted in the room. Want to know the wi-fi password? It's on the sign! If however you are looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate away from the big city, there is no place better. Nestled in the hill country of Texas, Canyon Sunrise offers a place to get away from it all. The Mariposa cabin is secluded, comfortable and offers everything you need (and more) in a home away from home. Private pool, private jacuzzi, country setting, comfortable accommodations. I couldn't be more pleased with my stay here. The resident cat Bob is sweet and affectionate. The scenery and solitude while sitting on the deck is priceless. After this restful weekend I feel ready to tackle yet another stressful week of work. If I ever have the opportunity to come back to Wimberley Texas, this would definitely be my go-to place to stay.

Of course nearly $200 a night feels costly when you're making the reservation, but when you are looking at the stars from the private hot tub - or from the private pool - the pain on your thinning wallet will dissipate. Everything was very clean. The sheets, comforter and towels were very clean and well laid out. That said, there were a few tiny things that could be improved upon the inside of the cabin (like not putting clean towels next to the toilet), but I don't think this is the forum to note the majority of those issues. Most important for you, gentle reader, is that you'll enjoy a getaway from the big city in this cabin. You should note though: don't expect to get great access to Cypress Creek from this cabin. The beautiful creek that snakes its way thru Wimberley is not adjacent to these cabins. Also, the majority of the access points to Cypress Creek are on private property, so I wouldn't recommend going to Wimberley to spend time near/in the creek (unless you drop a ton of cash on a rental that specifically notes that it has creek access). This cabin is perfect for a couple that needs some special, private time! It's isolated. Quiet. Secluded. Romantic. Cosy/small. It has very good vibes!

Either that or the place used to be a lot nicer and better run than it is currently (which is i think the case). Judging by the beautiful pictures on the website vs what was the present day reality, I I think its the later. The house is nice, spacious, and comfortable. But it's not as nice as what the pictures make you believe. The rooms are cheaply outfitted and the decor is cheesy. The whole set up of the B&B is a bit weird though. Each room has a keyed entry with a private bathroom, balcony, a coffee pot, and mini fridge. Guest pay by the room they stay in. There is a huge common living room, kitchen, and breakfast nook downstairs on the bottom two levels. The top floor has to use an exterior spiral staircase to get back into the main living area part of the house. Luckily my family rented every room in the place for a holiday get together, so we thought we should have privacy and not be forced to hang out in the common areas with other guests we did not know. Well...this was partially true..... read on. So when we first get there, we see the sign for the B&B on the side of the major road and the house is WAY up on this huge hill and has a tiny parking lot that can fit two cars that was full. We park on the site of the road and climb up the steep and very ricketty old stairs to the back porch of the house, and then Esmerelda comes out and tells us we have to go around to the other side of the house, and gives us some directions that were partially coherent. We drive around, and find the other side of the house has parking at the entrance level, albeit very limited and cramped parking on the side of a narrow driveway. Esmerelda is waiting at the doorway and introduces herself and we asked for the tour. She walks us from room to room, not saying much, and was very unwelcoming. She's simply open the doors to each room, anounce the name (which is a color) and then go to the next room. We asked her some questions, and she didn't understand us because it seems that her english is not very good. When we got back to the living and kitchen floors, I asked what was behind a couple doors and was told "NO NO NO" so I shut them quickly and left that alone. Then, we started unloading our food into the large built in stainless steel fridge, and Esmerlda came over and kinda mumbled something as she hurried to grab up food that was in the fridge and take somewhere else. We were under the impression that there would be some food stocked in the house. The pantry area was well stocked with all sorts of dry food, and even liquor....but again we were told NO NO NO. The food that was for us, was in a TEENY TINY mini fridge smaller than even in a dorm room. It included bottled water, yogurt, a couple peices of fruit, and orange juice. So what was all the food in the fridge and freezer and pantry for? The fridge has all sorts of weird stuff in there...including fish marinating in an open bowl of juice. Yuck! And the freezer was stuffed to the brim with frozen foods, mostly meat I think. So, we go sit on the back porch to enjoy the nice weather and notice there is a jacuzzi being filled with water from a garden hose. Not sure why, since it is november and no one brought our swim suits and Austin is in a major water rationing drought. If they had asked, we would have told them NO please dont waste the water. The view off the back of the house was listed as a lake view...and in years where the lake was full, this would be true, as there was a dried up boat ramp at the base of the house. But, as is, we could NOT EVEN SEE THE LAKE. I'm talking at least a mile away or more. Lake Travis was depressingly low. So there is this old weather tattered bar outside that looks like it came from some closed down marina night club with the words "The Blue Fairy on the side" and also these outdoor bathrooms that resembled those at a public pool. Basically a shed made of corrugated steel with no lights inside. Nice. We notice this is the only communal bathroom in the whole house. So unless you want to go upstairs to your room, if you want to pee while in the living area, you have to go outside. Really nice. As we are commenting on all these unexpected and not pleasant surprises out comes this man from no where, with no introduction, no greetings, nothing. He is just walking around. He is probably at least 6'5" and is built like a line backer, is african american, and was wearing athletic clothes with no affiliation to the B&B (esmerelda wore a shirt with the B&B name on it). He had this perma scowl on his face and said not a word to us, but would appear throughout the trip at various points and just walk out...even in sweat pants...make himself comfortable at the other end of the porch, or in the living area, and then leave. We still dont know if he worked there, or was just a crasher?

I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!
