Rafael's Auto Repair - Before I allowed them to "fix my car"

Rafael's Auto Repair

I love Rafael!!!!!!!!!!!!…read more So after a cross country trip, my family noticed I have a small leak, thought it was oil. I'd gotten an oil change during the trip, and it was speculated maybe the oil cap needs to be tightened...? I'd gotten my oil change at the Take 5 Oil Change in Arkansas (loved them, too!), so I went to Take 5 to have them take a look, and an amazing woman let me know it's not oil, it's transmission fluid leaking. I started praying. Anything transmission related to me spells $$$$$$. So via CarAdvise, I'm sent on a wild goose chase: everyone they referred me to let me know right up front that they do not do transmissions. So after hours of my day, I find myself at Mr. Transmission who tells me: come back in a week and a half and be prepared to leave your car. That's not totally convenient. I give them a call on the day of and leave a message, hear nothing in return. And that's when my research led me to Rafael. I stopped by, he gave me a free diagnostic (someone between Mr. Transmission & Rafael told me it's $100 just to diagnose the issue!). Rafael and I agree on the date I should bring my car in. I was running late that day. He called me (which told me he cares, remembers me, scheduled me!). Also during the diagnostic, he let me know exactly how much it would cost (which was totally reasonable!). So I get to the shop, he tells me it will be done same day. I know he closes at 5pm, so I was hoping for 4:30pm, but it only took two hours (just in time for lunch)! And, he called me "honey". :) Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Rafael!!!!!

A recent complete brake job was done improperly. As a result my car sustained close to $4,000.00…read moredamage to wheel, axel and caliper. Not to mention they did not tell me the car was unsafe to drive when I initially brought it back. They would not take responsibility or fix the damage with no cost to me. I had to get it towed to another shop where the damage was diagnosed. Multiple attempts to get the owner of the shop to contact me went unanswered. Unable to find out who actually is the owner of the shop now? Office staff / management very defensive and unhelpful. I am having a TERRIBLE experience here and now have NO vehicle to drive.

The transmission went out on the largest truck that we rely on the most, so I took it to Albert, the owner of Mr.Transmission to get it repaired. It took $1,500 AND about a week to get the truck running again, but it broke down a week later. The work was supposed to be guaranteed, so I took it back to him to get it repaired. I picked it up 6 weeks later and it broke down again after driving one block. He had it for another two weeks but could not diagnose the problem. I finally had enough of him and his lies, so I wound up sending it to another shop. The moral of this story is DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF ALLOWING ALBERT OR ANYONE AT HIS SHOP TO TOUCH YOU CAR. HE IS A LIER, A THIEF, AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR STEALING PEOPLES MONEY.

My husband brought his truck here for a second opinion on a transmission issue he was having. First…read moreplace we took it was horrible and told us he needed his transmission rebuilt for 2 grand. Long story short after all the bullshit, we bring it here and they were great and friendly. They test drove it and knew almost instantly what the problem was. The sun shell needed to be replaced and after researching on the internet we were positive they made a correct diagnoses and had confidence in them. They saved us a lot of money too from the idiots that wanted to rebuild the transmission. There's some crooked people out there but I think these guys have your best interest. Only thing that sucked was that there was hardly any parking. Otherwise a great place to go for transmission issues!

Even though I've only been to Barry's once, I would definitely go again for work on my car. It's a…read morelong story but the Midas on White Bluff totally botched a catalytic converter replacement. 4 times I had it back to them to fix it but they never could. I came to the conclusion that the "technician" I got stuck with was incompetent. Not to sound like a jerk or be judgmental, but the guy at Midas had ALL gold teeth. Very unprofessional looking in my humble opinion. I took the car to Savannah Tire on Abercorn where I explained the series of events to the service writer (he was a big guy), who I found to be very rude, told me that they could not fix it there because it involved welding but he did give call Barry's and give them a heads up and told me to go there. Not only was everyone at Barry's very nice but they fixed my car up good ! Sounds just like it did before the cat gave out. By the way, I think it was Shane (?) told me that the weld job that Mr. Goldteefs at Midas did a horrible job, to the point that he said (paraphrasing) that the guy shouldn't be welding at all, he was that bad. Jim from the Midas on Ogeechee Rd had read the comment I put up on Midas' comment board and he did offer to fix it but at that time I had already taken the car to Barry's. Thanks Jim , I appreciated the offer and that you cared. So Barry's gets a big 5 star from me. Good solid work that has lasted well over a month and I expect it to continue to last for a good long while. Oh, and the price for the welding was more than reasonable considering all the aggravation I had gone through at Midas.

Competent workers and they did a thorough job. They fabricated parts that were needed.read more
