I really wanted to like it, but the point of reviews is to be honest and kind. The staff, wonderful people! The establishment was very clean! Here's where it fell apart, the food. I have had Middle Eastern food so many times back in Denver. What I expected was a flavor explosion, what I received was a hint of flavor. Food was cooked to order but it was like they had never used spices to make the food explode. The desert was delicious, I do have to say that. But the salad and the kabobs were lacking in my opinion. In Denver my favorite place was Jerusalem's restaurant, and that is how I base all Middle Eastern food, this place may work for the mid-west but it wouldn't survive in a bigger city. read more

Nice chain franchise with decent Mediterranean food. My husband had a Gyro with fries/salad and I had Chicken shawarma with salad/yellow rice. Both were tasty. My only critique is the salad. It was 1 cup of Romain mixed greens with carrot and dressing with 1 kalamata olive, 1 cube of feta about 1x1', and 1 cucumber chunk also 1x1'. A Greek salad needs more than 1 olive and 1 cube of feta . We also got dessert "baklava" and Turkish coffee and both were delicious. Overall a pretty good Greek chain with tasty meats and desserts. Steer clear of the salad though. read more

We we're truly surprised when we walked into this restaurant. I remember it being somewhere else and the decor was a bit different. If this is the same place l, what an upgrade! I had the gyro with rice and Lentil soup. I forgot to state, sauce on the side. I'm not a big sauce person. Nonetheless, if you like sauce you will not need to ask for sauce on the side. I have always been a fan of all of the Jerusalem Cafe locations (Westport, Liberty... and now Independence). I have always liked their food and their amount of selections. Imagine my surprise when this location even had a few things the others did not (like Kunafa). But, I was also not able to find an extra Gyro meat option (like the Liberty location) when I ordered online. And, the hummus was slightly different (more "fluffy"/ less heavy). So, they are the essentially the same, but slightly different. All of them very good though. And, I recommend trying the Kunafa; you won't the disappointed. read more

I ordered a Greek salad. It was almost inedible because the taste of lemon was so strong, the cucumber slices were at least a 3/4" thick and the salad was swimming in the watery dressing. I couldn't eat the salad so I was glad I ordered the hummus. That was very good. I probably won't be back. This is not like the Westport location at all. read more
