If ya know me, you'll be surprised that I tried a Jersey Mike's Sub. My families roots are in South Philly, we moved right over the bridge in the early 1970s to South Jersey, but I still frequent Philadelphia. We call Subs a Hoagie, and we make a compelling argument. I'll post the story below this review. I don't visit many chain restaurants because the local establishments in my local area are always far superior. I kept seeing the commercials with my Italian brother Danny Devito, and I trust Danny, so today I decided to give J.M.'s a try. Service and employees. 5 stars, these guys almost hit Chick-fil-A friendliness level! Cleanliness and appearance. 3 stars, not dirty but not spotless. I ate at the location. It was just "okay" as far as comfortable seating goes. The "Sub" 3 stars. First, let me say if I'm ever far from home and I'm craving a Hoagie and my only choice was a Wawa or a Jersey Mike's, I would 100% pick a Jersey Mike's I had tried Subway a long, long time ago, and in my opinion, Subway is awful beyond words, and I'm amazed they exist in Philadelphia or New Jersey. I had a Jersey Mike's Original, which is basically an Italian Hoagie. I asked them to hold the peperoni because I've never had a Hoagie with peperoni, and I didn't want the peperoni to affect my comparison and judgment as to what I personally enjoy about a Hoagie. The employee offered to add 1 slice of each meat since I didn't want peperoni. That was very thoughtful of him, and I accepted his offer. The taste wasn't bad at all, the meat was sliced to order, and the toppings were fresh. Look, if I lived in Alabama and never had a real Philadelphia Hoagie, Jersey Mike's would have received 5 stars. In my opinion, what Jersey Mike's could do that would make me enjoy their Sub would be, #1 If you have a location in the Northeast, then get the bread from a local bakery such as Liscio's. Even if it's an option to their store made bread. I understand because it's a chain. Every location has to be exactly the same, so that suggestion won't work. I'm not saying the roll was bad, but for me, it didn't have the slight crunch of a roll from a good bakery. #2 Don't cut the rolls completely in half. Cutting them completely in half makes for a messy Hoagie. I never had a Hoagie with the roll cut completely in half. It was a little bit of a fight to keep the ingredients in between the bread. I get defensive when I see restaurants that use the word Philly, Philadelphia, or Jersey in their names, especially if they are located in a state that's not PA. or NJ, but I think that Jersey Mike's does a good enough job representing the basics of a good Hoagie, so I give them my blessings to bear the word "Jersey" in their name. * History of Hoagie One legend of the origin of the hoagie sandwich is tied to Hog Island. Wawa who? I'm no hater of wawa by any means but if I ever want a good hoagie (sub), I'm making the drive here. They do NOT skimp on any ingredients. I went in on a Saturday at noon and the place was packed. I didn't order ahead, but with how busy they were I was expecting a wait. This place runs like a well oiled machine because I was in and out within 5-10 min. I got the club sub "Mike's Way" on white bread and my wife got ham and prov. Mike's Way is onions, lettuce, tomato, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and spices. It is delicious and everyone should try it that way at least once. The inside looks like a regular hoagie shop, but they make sure to keep the counters clean with each sandwich they make which is considerate. Everyone I encountered was very nice and accommodating. Like I said, these sandwiches are stacked with ingredients! Will def return. read more

My third visit to this store and I have to say, something has changed, and not for the better. Being from Philly, I know what a hoagie should be and this ain't it. Flavorless, not pleasing to the mouth bread with bitter tendencies somewhere in the Mike's way toppings, and a serious lack of cold cuts resulting in a Subway-like experience. Excellent hoagies. Get it "Mike's Way" and that oil/vinegar/spices concoction is just right on an Italian Hoagie! And since we often take-out from here, they accommodate my request to put the "Mike's Dressing" on the side so the hoagie roll doesn't get soggy on the ride home! Every sandwich we've ever gotten here has been tasty and good...bacon/chicken/ranch, Italian Hoagie, hot roast beef and cheese...all great! Choice of white, wheat or seeded rolls, as I recall. Some sandwiches come in a "mini size" too besides regular and large, which is actually quite generous since the rolls are WIDE, but some you can get in only two sizes, and not the "mini." Recommend. Nice kids work the counter. Pepsi products only is my only complaint as I prefer Coke products! read more

I order from Jersey Mike's fairly regularly. It's a bit of a drive but usually worth it. In the last few months I'm not sure what has changed but the service seems to have declined. I order through the app to be sure my order is correct but it has repeatedly been on the wrong bread or missing an ingredient and lately though the order asks for it, never has oil, vinegar, s&p, nor oregano. Today was no different. What was different was when I went in to get my order at the pick up time. It wasn't ready so I stepped to the side to wait. The employee at the register asked my name and told the other employee to finish my order - my sandwich was sitting waiting to be completed while the walk in customers sandwiches were made. As he moved my order to start adding toppings he looks at me at tells me "Get a Pepsi out of the cooler over there for me." The Pepsi was for my order so it's not a matter of me caring that I had to get the drink, it was completely how it was said. The employee that had been at the register popped his head up at the tone in his voice and told him it was my order. I guess the sandwich making guy must have thought I was a Door Dash or Grub Hub employee? No apology for barking an order at me, nor for my late order and then I get home to realize not all the toppings were included. I realize the employee may be new but it's not worth my drive out there for ingredients to be missed on my hoagie and then to get barked at by a teenager. I'll be getting my hoagies at Wawa for a while and hope that the service at JM improves with time. read more

Went last week. It's basically the same as Primo, made and sliced to order sandwich's. The guys working were very nice. The sandwich's were good. Ham and cheese and a special Italian. Strange and uninviting plastic separating you from them. How do you keep that clean? Change it every day? I've eaten here a few times . And more then likely I will again. So I'm comparing this place to Primo. It's about the same price, with a smaller selection. Primo also gives the advantage of making it very spicy, but sometimes it's a bit much for me. That's what I actually really liked about this place (not as spicy and smaller selection), they also cut the lunch meat in front you! My boyfriend had an Italian hoagie and I had a Baja chicken wrap. He loved his and I was crazy about mine too. We were pleasantly surprised by this place and will return. The chicken in my wrap had the texture and taste of real chicken (I'm lookin' at you Subway) and it all was very filling. I'm not sure if this place had sides other than chips though, but I guess that's what a hoagie place is like. 7/12/18- They gave my boyfriend and I a cookie when we told them exciting news (we got a new car). Situation : Myself and two co-workers grab lunch on a Friday. Observations : Same gloves worn while handling payments and making food, no plates for dinning in, the Italian hoagie did not contain proscuitto but was advertised to contains said meat. Evaluation : Sampled the chicken parmesan and the Italian, decent sized but pricey, acceptable taste, bread not overfilling, skimped on the chicken, bit too much vinegar on the italian, rosemary roll was good with the chicken parmesan. It was early Sunday and clearly a different guy. He couldn't get our order correct for starters. But the kicker was he blew a long raspberry across my open hoagie. Deliberately! When I caught him I asked for a means to lodge a complaint. He smirked devilishly and told me to go to yelp. So here I am. He's a young curly blond haired guy who should be NO where around food. I have gone to Jersey Mike's in West Chester for a couple of years now. The sandwiches my wife and I have ordered are great. Until recently. I pick up my orders and bring them home. A couple of weeks ago the Italian subs we ordered were made using the wrong rolls. Although disappointing, I just figured someone made a mistake and I wasn't going to worry about it. But this evening I made the same order and again got home to discover the subs were once again on the wrong rolls. Disappointing now became annoying. I decided to try this place out with a friend of mine. We call the order in, my friend goes to pick it up. When he shows up they claimed he didn't place an order and wanted to argue. My friend instead replaced the order. I ordered a grilled vegetable wrap. Which is peppers onion Swiss provolone cheese lettuce tomato and ranch. I open my wrap and the only thing in there is lettuce tomato and ranch. I call them and the person on the phone kept telling me what their veggie wrap is. The website is misleading when it comes to the catering. Make sure you add the correct amount of boxes. I thought I was ordering four boxes of sandwiches choosing the options that were presented to me when in actuality I was getting four sandwiches cut up into twelve pieces. Very misleading. When I called and questioned it even the employee said the website is misleading. Plus, it was way overpriced. I wouldn't recommend placing catering orders from here again. Really friendly staff making some truly classic subs. Very fast service, prices are slightly high but you get a premium sandwich. Highly recommend the turkey provolone with oil vinegar mayo. While shopping in the borough something caught my eye, a place that I did not remember, no matter how hard I dove into my memories. After short consideration, I decided to walk in. I pulled over and walked towards the establishment, full of the excitement deriving from a new adventure. I sauntered in, greeted by smiles and warmth of friendliness. I asked to receive a menu for the purpose of intaking new information. I scanned through the items, noticing a veggie sandwich. My wife is a vegetarian so this would appeal to her. I left with the intent of returning. Later that night, I returned with my wife and picked out sandwiches for ourselves and kids. We surprised them with takeout and they were overjoyed. We got a number 13 (Italian hoagie) and 17 (cheese steak). We got the large size which is 13 inches. The rolls were similar to primos but without the seeds. Both sandwiches were great & we would definitely go back. They were a little pricey at around $15 each. read more

I walk in for some lunch on a Sunday, and at first I was horrified by the prices. I get in line, and some lady in uniform, who was sitting on a laptop in the dinning section of the store, started yelling at the workers behind the counter to hurry up and move faster. The guy making my sandwich seemed pissed, and wasn't very polite for the rest of the transaction, and sort of grumbled his questions toward me. I hated how it then asked me to tip them on a card for a $15 dollar sub. Annoyed with the service so far, I sat down to eat and the lady kept yelling at the rest of the staff, which was great to listen to while I was trying to eat in the store. The sandwich was very good, and I especially liked the bread, but it was not worth $15 by a long shot, although it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had, which is the only reason why this is a two star review. I then go to leave, weave goodbye to the staff and thank them, and some of them said goodbye in a nice friendly way, but the same guy who served me was vaping in the back and could not be bothered.
