This place checked all of those boxes. There were large fridge cases with a huge selection of drinks but sadly no Aquafina. We were waited on at the counter promptly. Our food was out quickly. Now for the not so good stuff. I ordered a Capri panini, hold the hot peppers. It is pictured on the menu as being on toasted bread. It was served on pita bread that was not toasted and there was no sign of the spinach that was in the description. The salami mentioned must have been a beef salami and not what I was expecting. It was fine but not delicious. My friend ordered a Philly steak that she trashed as the meat resembled steak in no way. The ambiance is worn and pretty abused looking. The seating couches/chairs were grungy (not sure how they expected to keep white cushions clean looking) and accommodate only 2 parties if you want to sit at a table. The food is Halal so if you want that, great, but I prefer my Deli to also serve pork products which this place does not. We were disappointed and will not be back.

The sandwich is just as the store name suggests basic, if you like a classic simple sandwich then this is your spot. I would have like to have seen a slightly higher quality meat for a sandwich shop. The meat on the sandwiches seems like regular prepackaged deli meat, given the price point there's nothing wrong with that. Most if not all of the sandwiches start at 8$ so everything is decently priced. If you want a sandwich but you don't want a jimmy John's or subway sub this is a nice alternative for a little midday lunch. Original Review: The yelp page says permanently closed however it is not, the sandwich just moved locations. It is now located inside of the handsome biscuit restaurant. I was excited to try this restaurant. I have attempted to try it a few times however they're "closed" each time despite the neon open sign being lit. The business should clarify if they are only open until they sell out or they may need to adjust the hours of operation that they have posted across various platforms as it causes confusion.

It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.

The venue manages to strike a perfect balance between laid-back vibes and a lively, energetic crowd. You can tell from the moment you walk in that it's designed for great live music and a fun night out. First, let's talk about the space. It's open but still feels intimate. Mo matter where you stand, you get a good view of the stage. The sound quality was impressive; clear vocals and just enough bass to feel the energy of the show without being overwhelming. The lighting setup added a great ambiance, especially once the main act took the stage. One of my favorite things about The Annex is the full bar and food options. I started the night with a local craft beer (they have a great selection!) I didn't get food, but they had plenty of options. There's something for everyone: wings, sandwiches, sharable snacks. It's much more than just bar food. Prices were fair, cheaper than most concert venues I've been to, which I really appreciated. The staff behind the bar moved quickly and were always friendly, even when things got busy. What really set the night apart, though, was the vibe. Everyone from the security at the door to the other concertgoers was there to have a good time, and it showed. The Annex is a solid spot for catching live music, grabbing a drink with friends, and actually enjoying some good eats. I look forward to returning for another show in a few weeks.
