This is the very first time and hopefully the last time that I have ever had a bad experience with Jersey Mike's. I ordered my giant club sub on wheat like I always had. This time was a shocker!! The wheat bread tasted very different than usual. It was a lot skinnier, tougher and less crusty. I liked this anemic and poor tasting sandwich to the way Jimmy Johns serves theirs. Meaning they lack the size and portions on all counts thus tanks the enjoyability on all fronts. If this is how you make your sandwiches from now on, I'm going to have to find another sandwich shop to frequent and rave to everyone about. read more

After placing my order, I was directed to the register to pay. Everything seemed fine until I was told by a young employee (an African-American male) to move and not stand near the area where I usually wait for my sandwich. His words were vague -- something like "go more that way," which felt unnecessary and a bit odd, but I complied and sat down to wait. My sandwich took a bit longer than usual, which I completely understand due to the training. However, things became more confusing when an associate named William told me to go to the register to get my sandwich. When I went, I was told I needed to pay again, even though I had already paid earlier. The original cashier, who was standing right there, didn't acknowledge the prior transaction or clarify the confusion. What bothered me most was when I asked for clarity, the same young employee told me they don't like people standing near the register "because our tips are there, and we don't want them to end up missing." That comment felt unnecessary, accusatory, and left me deeply uncomfortable -- especially as a customer of color. Whether it was intentional or not, it gave off the impression that I was being viewed with suspicion, which was disappointing. I'm sharing this not to call anyone out personally, but in the hope that the staff can be reminded of the importance of communication, professionalism, and treating all customers with the same level of respect and courtesy. I have been coming to this store for several years and they have had consistently friendly and quick employees. I have never had an order made wrong and everything is ready on time or early when I do mobile pick up. This store is clean and well stocked. The food is fresh and good quality. I'm only giving this location 2 Stars because of the customer service. One of the gentleman that works there is so friendly and helpful and made me and amazing sandwich last week that I came back a week later for the same order but he wasn't the one that made it. Now on my visit yesterday I pick up my sandwich and at it home my 2 hour ride home that turned into 3 hour ride. By the time I got home my stomach was bubbling like a kid in a bubble bath with a bazooka bubble machine gun. That sandwich had me up and down all night and morning running to the restroom. The WORST. I ordered two sandwiches for delivery. One giant and one mini. EASY on the mayo. What we received was two mini subs both covered in globs of EXTRA mayo. I called and spoke to the very RUDE "assistant manager", Jacqueline. This woman clearly has ZERO customer service experience, she was rude and completely incompetent. We finally got a JM in Seaford, DE. I got a tuna sub. I could not believe the size of the sub and the price! I got the regular which is barely enough for 1 person. $9.00! crazy. Went to the Southington, CT Jersey Mike's It is horrible!! While waiting for my sandwich which is steak mushrooms and mayo ONLY! That is not what I got. It was steak lots of cheese and onions. While waiting there were 3 THREE others that returned the sandwiches because they were wrong too. There were no lines and only two people waiting ahead of me. So no mad rush just bad service! Extremely expensive and boring. Shredded lettuce and tomato are your vegetable choices. A razor thin slice of cheese (you can see through it) for even more cash can be added. Then they have the nerve to prompt for a 20% or more tip for a to-go order? Service is fantastic by Manager Leanne- friendly, professional, fast and efficient. A+ for service. I had a pastrami Reuben. And Italian sub which were also fantastically tasty, well crafted and with loads of meat and toppings. The Rosemary bread is also a winner. The premises are super clean and comfy with booth and nice sunny outdoor seating as well. After going to 3 Jersey Mikes; I have concluded they are the best sub chain in LA. Every dog has his day. I feel like I'm always sniffing around looking for some buried treasure. Sometimes I get lucky and someone throws me a bone--a good recommendation for a great place to eat or something. Most of the time, however, I'm left to my own to explore the world and hope that I find something great to feast on. Somehow, the planets all aligned such that I found myself at this mini advertising fair in front of my school's gym. A couple businesses around Westwood set up some tents with little giveaways, and I made sure to get in Jersey Mike's Subs line because I saw they had a little wheel to spin. Man, the odds on that wheel were insane. I honestly don't know how I happened to land on the "free sub" slot, but I did. I also got the last voucher, so everyone in line behind me was actually pretty upset. Enjoy your koozies (that was not nice; no one enjoys koozies)! Anyways, I had honestly never stepped into Jersey Mike's because I was fully aware that prices are slightly at a premium. They're not insane or anything--probably $8-9 for a sandwich, but I'm a student on a self-imposed budget, so I tend to settle for cheaper options. Thus, I've never felt the need to go. Well, when you have a free sandwich voucher, you GO. And so in the midst of some intense programming projects and preparation for the following week's finals, I made the trek to Westwood to redeem my paper gold. If you decided to skip all that, which I don't blame you for, READ THIS: THE SERVICE OF THIS PLACE IS CRAZY GOOD. I mean, just peruse the other Yelp reviews for a sec. Go ahead. I'll wait. The theme you'll see arise is that tons of people are saying how nice and friendly the employees are here. This is not an accident. I truly believe that the training they get here is primarily focused on customer service, and it clearly shows in the loose and fun atmosphere they have going on here. Let me go further into this rabbit hole (yes, I really am committing to this whole dog analogy). Basically, I'm just staring at the menu above because I have no idea what to get. I eventually decide on some Italian sub or whatever, and I go to the cashier and let him know. Well, apparently, you can pay in advance for a sub and then let the guy in the middle know. So I did. What happened next was pretty dang awesome. The employee was super nice and asked if I wanted to try his favorite sub. He told me he eats it every single day, and I could tell the guy was genuine...It's not necessarily something you lie about. I said sure, of course, he's the expert. So basically he starts going on about how good it tasted grilled. I'm like, oh yeah man, that sounds delicious. Then he says that he likes to get some mushrooms in there and GET THIS--marinara sauce. Marinara sauce! He basically offered to make his super secret custom sandwich for me, and I instantly took him up on it. Just chatting with him, it was clear how great of a guy this was. He told me stories of how he showed up to his first day of work wearing jeans, which is against uniform policy, and he told me about his work a little. He also really knew his sandwiches there, and the way he sliced the meat was pretty mesmerizing. At this time, the cashier came and said, "Ooh, the grill, eh? That's how you do it." Man, everyone in here was so easy to talk to and just seemed like old friends or something. My sandwich guy then handed off the marinara masterpiece and then told me to tell him how it was after I was done. Well, that didn't take too long, because I finished that thing in record time. Let me tell you: I'm not exactly sure what you have to ask for; I just know it had some ham cuts and whatnot, some lettuce, and basically everything good in life. The mushroom and marinara was insanely good--the man was not kidding. After letting him--his name was Sheldon (I hope it's an "o" and not an "e", and certainly maybe it could be a very rare "a"...)--know how right he was, I had to leave. However, I left with basically the happiness of a dog's wagging tail. It was really cool how the workers here didn't go off some lame corporate script and weren't confined to boring old sandwiches. They honestly cared about customer experience. I hate to say it, but this kind of genuine service where you can feel like you CONNECT with the person on the other side of your food...It's rare. It's really, really, really rare. And when you DO find it, you have to acknowledge it. You have to appreciate it. I'm serious. Check out Jersey Mike's. Very solid experience. Employees were friendly and helpful (I'm pretty sure it was my first time here.) We got one philly cheesesteak special and one pastrami reuben. Being hot sandwiches, there was no need to specify toppings. If I come back, it would probably only be for a daily special (sandwich changes each day of the week) as $9 for a medium sized sandwich isn't a great value to me. The special comes with drink and chips. Bruin ID got us a 10% discount, at least on the a la carte sandwich. Let me first start by saying, if you have a problem with this place, you have a problem WITH ME. And I'll fight you. I've been coming here for two years, at least once a week, and never had a bad experience. This is a well-run, friendly crew that legit sets the standard for service. Their sandwiches are packed (I see a few reviews here with pix that don't even LOOK like a JM sandwich) and are beyond delicious. To qualify that, I've only had cold sandwiches, but zero complaints. Yeah ok once in a while it's "sloppy" they often have to make adjustments with a packed house and full line, but they take care of it promptly. I'm not sure what six sigma blackbelt is running this place but I'll be back again. And again. And again. I don't work here, nor did I receive any free sh!t for writing this review. Went in yesterday June 20th between 2:30-3:30. The girl working was short with brown hair past her neck I believe, glasses, and fair skinned, either white passing hispanic or white. Her hair got into my food, will include picture below so obviously cleanliness is not a concern to this store. And she her service was terrible. I hate service employees who try to rush thru your order so bad they don't even listen to you when your telling them your instructions so they repeat the same question not realizing that if they had just listened to you and let you finish your sentences, they would know what the instructions are...and that is exactly what the girl did. That is very frustrating as a consumer please do not do this! She also tried to charge me extra for bacon even though I ordered a giant #8...which if you don't know comes with bacon already. First time I ate there got a cheese steak, it was good (pricey but good) , no napkins.....2nd time I ate there, I don't remember what it was called, but it's #2 on the menu, very little meat (bread was good) and one paper thin slice of cheese, literally dripping with vinegar and oil , and NO NAPKINS, just shy of $8 sandwich only, made a mess at my desk. Advice? Save money and get a large Pub Sub! Their large looks like about half the size of most sub shops but their prices are ridiculous for such a skimpy sub on what appears to be a glorified hotdog bun. I had the Italian which, although the toppings were scarce as well as the meat the taste was ok which is why I gave an extra star. Unfortunately my daughter had a Buffalo chicken sub with blue cheese and the chicken was shredded and she didn't like hers at all.
