My husband and I eat at the McAllisters in Owosso, Michigan. Foods always good, place is always…read moreclean, staff is always friendly. Just lately though when we've eaten there, always at dinner time around 6:00, we've been made to eat in one little section. They've already cleaned the other half. They don't close til 9 or 10 so it seems kind of early to be mopping floors and closing off half the restaurant. Maybe a silly complaint but when your paying for a meal you should be able to sit where you want

Saturday March 14, 2026 4pm ish... Went despite negative…read morereviews and previous experience at the Flint McAllisters. Asked what the difference between the nachos basket being gluten free and the other 2 nachos NOT being gluten free. The counter person had no idea and consulted with a cook. The response to me was the cheese in the other 2 nachos was not gluten free...but the SAME cheese they use in the nachos basket was. So at that point I can have NO faith in any employee or manager (they don't show their face just send the employee back out to deal with it). So I changed my order to a half gluten free McAllisters club sandwich and half chef salad. When the food came the bread on the half sandwich wasnt much bigger than the 2 oz souffle cup the dressing came in. On top of the salad we're croutons. So I asked the counter person why there are croutons on the salad when I asked for gluten free food. She said they are not allowed to "take anything off the food unless told by customer." So since the counter help isnt helpful for anything other than pushing a button and not knowing the menu well enough to be useful they might as well install kiosks to order from. When leaving i asked the counter help for the corporate office she said she didnt know and went to consult with 2 managers (who never once came out to see what was wrong) and came back to say that both managers said they dont have a corporate number. I took out my phone and found the number in 2 seconds. VERY disappointed in everything the Flint McAllisters has to offer. I will not be going back to that location and will spread word of mouth to avoid that loacation.

    The Bagel Brothers

    The Bagel Brothers

    $$

Nice bagel/sandwich shop, but definitely not as inexpensive as you might assume…read more Don't get me wrong- this is a nice bagel shop, especially for the mall. They're definitely doing something right. The bagels are incredibly fresh and obviously baked daily, plus the breakfast sandwiches are delicious, as well as their freshly baked cookies. It's obvious some TLC has gone into the mix here. If you expect stale bagels and a commercialized taste, you might be in for a surprise. The food is fresh. I don't think the staff would let a stale bagel leave in a customer's hands. No joke. The only problem is the price. I get that everything is fresh. Shouldn't every bagel shop be selling only the freshest of fresh goodies? I think so. The prices here at Bagel Brothers are a tad high, especially on the baked goods and treats, like cookies, muffins, biscotti, etc. Most of the baked goods are in the $9 price range. I think paying that much for a cookie, as good as it is, is a bit excessive. It's not made of gold. The bagel sandwiches are a bit higher than most of the competition, too, but I don't believe they're as out of line in price as the sweets are. It's just a little bit steep, especially for the area. Located in the former Cinnabon location at GVC, Bagel Brothers opened this year and since then, I have enjoyed their bagels and cookies a few times now. I was actually pretty excited to try it, but not so excited about their prices. Again, considering the area and the competition, it's a little high, but the quality is certainly there. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate muffins and their fresh bagels, which come in a variety of flavors, including pumpernickel, whole wheat and sun dried tomato (my personal favorite). Personally, I think the Lox bagel, with salmon and sprinkled with capers, is the best bet. I think it was about $7. Most of the loaded bagel sandwiches are in the $6-$8 range. Regular toasted bagels with cream cheese are a little over $2 (gourmet cream cheeses are extra, but the regular cream cheese suffices). If you want to spring for the gourmet cream cheese, get the dill. It's worth the extra money. They also have a large selection of sandwich wraps, as well as soups. I haven't tried the soup yet, but the broccoli and cheese looked pretty good. So far, service has been fine, but nothing out of the ordinary either way. The location is great, right on the first floor and away from the food court upstairs, which is occasionally a zoo. There is some seating out front, so you don't need to feel as if you're compelled to plop down on a bench in the middle of the mall to wolf down your bagel sandwich in a New York minute. I think they have a great product, but I don't know if everyone would be willing to spend that much for a few bagels and cookies or a muffin. Just saying. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me that much and I'm willing to spend a little more for the quality, but I'm not certain everyone would feel the same way. Like I said, excellent quality, but slightly exaggerated prices. Overall, I think it's worth it.
