On my continued search to find my favorite (not necessarily the best ) avocado toast, I found…read moremyself today at JWilson's Restaurant. As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

It was DE-LISH-OUS!! Our meal began with the Greek-Style Loaded Hummus -- an appetizer that's as beautiful to look at as it is to taste. The house-made hummus was smooth, creamy, and seasoned perfectly with traditional Greek spices. Nestled in the middle were fresh grape tomatoes, Kalamata olives, cucumbers, red onions, and crumbled feta. A must-try dish that's bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavor! For my entrée, I ordered the Roasted Branzino Fish (Sea Bass) -- a mild, white fish with delicate, flaky flesh and a clean, fresh taste. I had mine grilled, and it was absolutely incredible! It was beautifully paired with asparagus, red peppers, broccoli, and zucchini, along with a crisp, classic Greek salad . Every bite was as delicious as the one before. If you're craving a meal that's fresh, healthy, and budget-friendly -- all while packed with flavor -- run, don't walk, to Elsa's Greek Grill! They also have a fantastic selection of Greek sandwiches, pizzas, and so much more. Tell them Best Bites sent you!

Now it's open for business. People must have been waiting for it. The small parking lot was filled, except for a few spaces in front that couldn't be accessed because of the line of cars waiting for the drive-through window. Inside, 2/3 of the tables were filled. Now . . . is it any good? I think so. Service is with a smile. Early rock from the 1950s was on the stereo. Everything was clean (I hope so, this was its first day open!). And the prices are in line with other places. I had the double bacon cheeseburger. It's called a steakburger, and it does have a stronger beefy taste than most hamburgers. So, two patties, must be half a pound, right? No no no no no. These are FLAT, two thin patties that are thinner together than a usual quarter pounder. The taste is certainly there, but it won't fill you up. So yeah, it's pretty good, but I'm not rushing back to it. I love big burgers and I cannot lie, and they ain't at Freddy's. They are Hunny sized, though, so she'd probably like it. Good taste for those with a small stomach. Although, with four temples within a quarter mile down Crow Road, including one in the same parking lot, maybe they should have put a Church's Chicken here . . .
