My only problem (not really a problem) is a tip jar on the counter. They take your order, look at you for a tip. The manager shouldn't allow it and the OWNER needs to give them a raise, not-guilt pass the buck. (Pun intended) I say that because for restaurant service, you sit yourself, fix/refill your own drink, pick up your own food at the counter, clean off your own table, etc.. Taking an order doesn't constitute a pay raise. My hourly rate is what it is no matter who I help. ‍

Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right.
