As much as I love the food at Schlotzky's, this location is always hit-or-miss. I never know what kind of food quality I'll get nor what kind of service I'll get when I walk through these doors. There have been times when the service has been stellar and the food comes out fast and delicious, and these are the times that make me want to come back. But I have learned not to expect the same situation every time I come back. I usually come on Sundays after church, so I'm mentally prepared to not always find a parking spot immediately in their small parking lot. My last resort is to park immediately across at the spots in The Home Depot's closest parking spaces, but I haven't had to do that in years. My go-to is a Pick-Two Combo: 1/2 Bacon Smokecheesy and a Loaded Baked Potato Soup. My partner always gets the Chicken and Avocado Pizza. There's something so appealing to me about both the taste and texture of sourdough bread that keeps me coming back for more. The location was renovated a couple of years ago but it seems that water leaks that plagued the restaurant pre-renovation still appear to be a problem, evidenced by the water stains on their ceiling. I enjoy the wide variety of different teas and sodas they also offer, and I like that they have a shaded outdoor seating area as well. The last time I was here in May 2024, they got the order wrong (ordered the largest size with extra meat, and got a regular medium). Also it tasted "off", and didn't smell right. Being diabetic I needed to eat but not even 2 hours later, it all came up! Should add this was about 30 minutes before closing time via the drive through. Called the next day, spoke to someone claiming to be the manager, took my number and said they'd tell the owner. Never heard anything back, so haven't been back. Been eating Schlotzkys since the 80s, they used to be the best sandwich in town. read more

Most restaurants are pretty normal looking, and seek to serve good food. And then we have Schlotzsky's. This joint has, well, character. Part of the reason is their heritage. They mention Austin a lot. And not because it's the state capitol, or because it's the favorite destination for California liberals moving to Texas. But that city's residents have a saying: "Keep Austin Weird." I'm not sure that's such a good thing to be proud of, but when you're in Schlotzsky's in Beaumont, the colors are garish, the furniture is steampunk, the music is alt-rock. Thankfully they don't demand that everyone wear an oxygen blocker and show proof that you got jabbed with a dangerous experimental serum. Going beyond that, I hope for good food. And we got it at Schlotzsky's. The Hunny and I both got the BB Smokecheesy, a roast beef sandwich with bacon bun, and the girl got a 10" pepperoni pizza. I found the roast beef to have a strong taste, with sauce that really added to the taste. Toasted bun with substance to it. Surprisingly, we found the Hunny's cousin there with her family, so we ate together. I forget what they got, but they liked their food too. Price is normal for what's between fast food and sit-down with waiter service, the BB Smokecheesy is $9. Bottom line: Schlotzsky's is different. But they don't use that as an excuse to make awful food. The food is also good, better than Whataburger, and worth a few extra minute's drive on Dowlen. And I hope it stays that way. Southwest Airlines once had great character, especially the characters who worked on the plane's staff (look on YouTube for a certain fast-talking blonde with a safety spiel that doubles as a comedy routine), but became dull and boring roughly 10 years ago. Schlotzsky's is a definitely a go-to restaurant for it's well-renowned sourdough. Schlotzsky's takes their work seriously and provide customers with their best work and the staff is really nice. All though there's not much ambiance, the food is brought to your table rather quickly. The food is really great, I would recommend the Chicken-Avacado artisan pizza for avocado lovers and for meat lovers you'd definitely enjoy the Turkey-Bacon Club. I'm a big Schlotzsky's fan and I've eaten at this restaurant multiple times. It's hit and miss. Sometimes it's fast and perfect. This time it was totally incorrect and they forgot my drink. I sat at the drive they until the server opened the window and then the drink was bad... tasted funny! The sand which was ok, but dripping grease. I had a salad too- but didn't eat it because they gave me the wrong salad. So this location can be good or it can be bad. If I go back and it's good, I'll leave a good review. Wow....been there twice in the past month and I am very impressed! The service is fast and the food is good! Kids pizza is ample and comes with drink and cookie! Soups are delicious. Tonight the manager on duty took our order. He beat on the counter the whole time we tried to decide what we wanted. While we were eating the manager went outside to puff on his e-cigarette brought the outside trash in shoved it in a trash bin by the cashier area with most of it hanging out. Then he went in the kitchen didn't wash his hands put gloves on and started making food,. All of the other employees had on hats, but manager wore nothing to restrain his hair from getting in food. This is my first time at this location but the last time I had Schlotzsky was over 15 years ago. I was welcomed as I walked in with my family. The young man who worked there answered all my questions. The atmosphere was nice. They also have an outside patio if you chose to sit outside. I was there with a party of 6 including 2 kids and our bill was around $35 which fed all of us. My parents shared a medium Angus Roasted Beef & Cheese with the side of some baked chips, I had the small Turkey Bacon Club with some baked chips, my husband had the pick two, Chicken Pesto Carbonara Pasta and Gumbo soup which he shared with my son, and my other son ordered a Chicken Alfredo 10" pizza. My sandwich was just perfect for me (maybe a little to much). My parents said they medium was just perfect for the two of them. The oven baked sandwiches was awesome. Been coming here for a long time. The food has always been good and the service has been fast. What impresses me is someone is always cleaning when you come here, even the owner. I decided to order Schlotzsky's for dinner tonight. I placed my order online which I thought was very convenient. I ordered The Original sandwich(large) along with the broccoli cheese soup, and a chocolate chip cookie. On my order I requested for them to exclude the onion on the sandwich. I sent my son to pick up my order. When he arrived home with my order, it was not right. I DID NOT want any onion on the sandwich and it reeked with the spell of onion that was on there. My son said they were out of chocolate chip cookies so I had to settle for a different cookie. I had already paid online(NEVER AGAIN) so there was little that he could do about that. I was upset about the mishaps but they always deliver on the taste and quality of the food. I can't blame the workers because when I looked at my receipt there was nowhere on there stating that the onion be excluded. Overall I would definitely order here again. My husband and I were just passing through Beaumont (we're from Austin) and we stopped by here for some food. I ordered a half sandwich and half salad. Sandwich was mediocre, kind of bland. Salad was horrid. It was just a simple garden salad but the mixed greens were slimey. If my salad looks like that in my fridge, that means it's too old and I just throw it all out. This place is awesome 90% of the time. Yummy food, patient staff... My favorite is the margherita flatbread pizza, but for some reason the staff forgets to put basil on it more often and not, and one time, they accidentally put cilantro on it, which made the thing taste like soap.
