It had been years since visiting Jerry's. Surely there was something in there I needed. Very organized and easy to figure out the sequence of things. I spent some time in the paper section. Lots of pretty large scale paper to admire. Pastel chalks were out for sampling. Staff are very pleasant. As I was checking out, staff asked if I had a rewards card. I really could not remember but after giving my phone contact she found me in the system. For those purchasing any amount of items, it is a good idea to sign up for their card. Forget Michaels, where the selection is limited and spread out all over and poorly organized. For the true artist Jerry's Artarama is paradise! Their selection of everything is unbeatable, and for those hard to find items for art classes, such as spray finish for chalk and it is wonderful to have this place available. Even going online to Amazon I couldn't find half of the things I needed, but they had it all here. I've had great service here until today. Came in for water color paper. I was told "Its against the back wall". I stood there looking at cold press, hot press, 90 lb., 140 lb. with no assistance whatsoever. Older balding guy and older woman at the registers yanking each other's chains and gabbing. I picked one out but then checked Hobby Lobby on my phone. More paper for almost half the price. I left the store. read more

I went in a few days ago, and even with their, huge sale prices, I think hobby lobby, Micheals , or even Joanne's have much better prices. Some of there items are so overpriced. I miss the old Jerry's, I use to be able to trust them that they had the best prices in town, but not any more. My advice, look around at other places. read more

Their selection of bookbinding supplies was terrible. Over-waxed thread was their only option for bookbinding thread. I was in the store wandering for 10 minutes and not once did someone ask me if I needed help finding something. Been shopping here for years and always loved it, but the weird asking for a tip at checkout turned me off. Artists are already struggling financially as inflation increases the price of art supplies, along with basic living such as food gas and rent, so the weird passive aggressive way the cashier asks for a tip from behind the lockdown era plexiglass shield was, sorry to say, just gross. Maybe if they just had a tip jar sitting at the register, that would be one thing, but a loud girl aggressively asking for a tip while customers in line are staring at you feels judge-y and uncomfortable. Never again. I used to feel excited when leaving the store with fresh new supplies, but this time I walked out feeling weird and frankly, pissed off. Ew. read more

I've been shopping here for five years and it's the best art store I've ever been to. I'm in grad school for architecture but also just love making things. I love this place because they have tons of nice knowledgeable staff, who do stuff like teach me how to use gouache paint when my "color theory" teacher didn't know how. They've never treated even my most basic question like it's stupid. They know what all the stuff does and if they don't, they know who does. (Like they told me to come back at 3 because the gouache guy would be working he taught me more in 20 min than the community college teacher did in a semester.) They've opened pens so I could try them. The customer service is unbeatable. They also have reliably better prices than almost anywhere. Their prices are better than Michaels WITH the 40% off coupon, most of the time. I was there today because the watercolor paper on the website was half the cost of amazon- then I got there and it was cheaper than the website. AND they have so.much.stuff. I discovered everything you'd need for silk painting except the silk today, didn't know it was there, even though I love dying and have been coming in for five years. They have idye packets and mordants, clay and ceramics, all the painting, drawing and drafting, beautiful art papers, a decent section of kids stuff (my 5 year old love the store AND it's dog friendly), framing that cheaper than anywhere else, artists spray paint, calligraphy, water colors and water color pens, fun blank books, I'm sure I haven't even found it all. Plus everything is 10% off all the time if you register your phone number, they don't spam you and that means they can look up anything you've bought and return whatever. I've returned things more than a YEAR after I bought them. Despite all of this, I heard a staff member being cussed out today because the store is requiring masks due to the covid epidemic. If you don't have a mask you can wait inside while they get your stuff. They also aren't accepting cash. These are both nationwide company policies and are just the right thing to do. The staff member was unfailingly polite and just trying to do his job and keep people safe. I guess they're getting a lot of 1 star reviews for requiring masks. I wish more places in Arizona were doing the scientifically correct thing, like Jerry's. But all that aside it's just a great store. I'm so lucky that I could walk to this store from my house if it wasn't 110 outside. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. In 5 years I have zero bad things to say. Zero. read more

The store came highly recommended and so I went to check it out. I couldn't find the brush I needed and asked an employee for help finding one within my price range. Probably took them less than 5 minutes of their time. At checkout they got upset when they asked for a tip and I said no. Even if they'd not said anything, there are signs everywhere soliciting tips in the most passive aggressive way. That a retail store asks for tips for the most basic customer service is beyond absurd and says more about the management than the employee. I'd go online next time not to be harassed. Jerry's is probably one of the best art stores that exists in this country. I travel all the way from Tucson to shop here. They have a very wide selection of art supplies for all kinds of different mediums. They stock unique items, as well as the staples. This store has an ok framing department, not as great as other locations, but plenty good enough. I mostly paint with acrylics, but I spend much of my time at Jerry's with the drawing supplies because they have the best selection of top quality tools for it. I can't find the jumbo Faber pencils anywhere but at Jerry's, and I love them, so that makes every trip worth it for me. But back to acrylics.. They have a lot of different brush options at decent prices (online pricing is better, though, so if you have a big order to qualify for free shipping and don't mind waiting, I'd go that route instead). I like their house brand brushes even, as they do a good job and are reasonably priced, so I don't mind being a bit rougher on them than on the more premium Silver brushes. I also love that Jerry's sells Matisse (Derivan) paint. My only gripe is that I've gotten more than a few spoiled tubes of it from the shelf (and from their online store). It's hard to see the quality of paint before purchasing with Matisse because they're sealed, but luckily Jerry's customer service is very good so it's easy to get a replacement if this happens. And I wish Jerry's carried more Matisse mediums. The brand is fantastic so I'm glad they sell them at all! They have tons of canvas to choose from as well. I always walk out with at least a few. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The store is organized well so it's easy to find most things you're looking for. I wish there was a Jerry's Artarama in Tucson! read more

My wife is just starting to sell her handmade items and is branching out into new media - this is one of her new go-to places. The employees were very helpful and offered advice and the one time the answer wasn't know they went to look it up. Worth checking it out. Oh, Jerry's. I'm so disappointed. I've been a longtime shopper and always appreciate shopping in a brick and mortar over buying online, especially if it helps the art community thrive. That being said, the last handful of times I've been in their shop, the customer service was abysmal. I think today was my last visit there. The store was almost completely empty, and in spite of there being at least three employees wandering around, I was neither greeted nor asked if I needed help at any point. A couple of the employees stood at the register and chatted with each other for at least 20 minutes, oblivious of someone who was there to spend money. The few times I was in there before, the experiences were similar. An employee might give you a pointer if you ask for help directly, but they seem bored and bothered in the process. As much as I loved Jerry's in the past, I'm no longer a fan. I'd much rather go to Blick and actually be greeted, helped, and experience knowledgeable employees who go out of their way to help you find your art goodies and give suggestions on what to look for. read more

Long time customer until today. I paid over $200 for a product being sold by everyone else at, the same time of purchase, online for $99. Jerry' online store lists it at $99 and the regular price at $187. I'm a big believer in supporting local businesses but not to this extent. Jerry's online and in-store lost a loyal customer and easily tens of thousands, if not more. From now on, I'll worry about myself and shop online for the cheapest price. read more

Generally, I love this place, but when I needed an item framed I encountered an employee named Tara who was apparently very annoyed by my questions about purchasing a frame. Maybe she was having a bad day. I don't know. Her body language, heavy sighs, and apparent annoyance at every single question I asked left me feeling like I wanted to go somewhere else because she didn't have time for me. I hope that Tara improves her attitude with other customers. I also hope whatever is bothering her resolves positively. I did not take her poor attitude personally. I have some sports memorabilia that I have wanted to frame. The items are very special to me and I wanted it done as perfectly as possible. I have spent many hours looking for the right place to take it. I never felt comfortable with any place I walked into. For beginners, they do have sets you can purchase for painting, etc. For every medium they have several options for those that want inexpensive vs. high quality/pricier supplies. Lots of art supplies to choose from. Seemed like better choices than Hobby Lobby and Michaels when it comes to the type of art supplies they carry. I got a good sized sketch book that was priced at $19.99 for $14. The cashier was nice enough to match their online sale price. He said they normally don't do it but that he would this one time since it was my first time there. They have tons of different picture frames, pencils, markers, drawing books, ect.
