I recently purchased a 2024 pickup from Jerry Smith/Frontier Chevrolet in Anacortes, WA. While I like the truck, I was not impressed with the dealer experience. I found the truck on Car Gurus on line. I made contact with the dealer. Business on the front end was great. I was contacted by Fernando, we agreed to a price and trade-in value. It was easy. I drove 300 miles to pick up the truck. I was given an appointment with a salesman to complete the sale. The salesman was not at work that day so I was shuttled off to another salesman. I arrived about a half hour early and the designated salesman had another customer at the same time. I spent a lot of time waiting throughout the process, even after the other customer left. We took a short test drive and an orientation of this technological wonder. Then, I waited. Once the waiting was done I was told to sit in the truck with OnStar to sign up for my trial subscription. I spent a lot of time on hold as OnStar tried to figure out why I could not begin this subscription for a year. This is still unresolved so I am missing features tied to OnStar like hands free driving. OnStar insinuated that the problem might be with the dealer so I mentioned it to the salesman who sort of shrugged it off. I asked the salesman for a second key for the truck. No key, no offer to get one. They cost $850, when programmed, at my local dealer. Finally, after all of the WAITING was complete, I met the finance guy. I paid cash so it should have been just a few signatures and out the door. Nope. Apparently, the finance guy's number 1 priority is to sell me extended warranties. ($3700+. No.) At least there was no waiting. To recap, I drove 300 miles, had to spend the night, OnStar still does not work, and I have only one key. Not great. read more

I've purchased two used vehicles from Jerry Smith Chevrolet in the last 4 years. Both experiences were fantastic. The first vehicle I bought was an 09 Toyota Rav4. The car was in Burlington at the Kia store and I am in Anacortes so they had it delivered to the Anacortes location for me. It has been very reliable and the price was right. Got in and out in a timely manner with a good interest rate. The second car was a 2018 Kia Rio. It was within my budget and everything was arranged and ready to sign before I got there. The customer service has always been really helpful and kind and we bring both of our cars here anytime we need something done. Once they had my car torn apart, they informed me the sensors were not connecing to the onboard computer system and would have to use GM Parts. Bottom line? $472.98 almost $100 MORE than their high estimate of $378. BUYER BEWARE. Get more than one estimate and don't use Jerry Smith Chevrolet. I had a great experience buying a car with Joe. I knew which car I wanted, called him up, we negotiated price over the phone (3 calls over 15 minutes), they got all the paperwork ready ahead of time, and I drove up that evening to sign the paperwork. Took under 30 minutes on-site to get it all done. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is that the finance manager could/should have read the room when I clearly unquivocally said I declined the additional warranty coverage they offered, and tried to push through the first no, asking if it was a dollars and cents thing, if I didn't see the value in it, etc, then drops language like "*I* see the value in it, but it you want to roll the dice, that's on you." I get that he was just hustling, and the finance office is where the dealership makes their money -- if I'd waffled or used indefinite language when declining, I could understand it, but when I say "I'm going to decline all of these", that really should be the end of it. But one suboptimal interaction doesn't overshadow what was, as a whole, very smooth and simple. read more

Dropped off a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer on May 28th because it had a check engine light on and was still under warranty. Turned out it had an issue with the fuel tank and required a replacement part. Has been nearly a month with no updates despite dozens of calls and voicemails left with parts and services department. The only department that answers is sales and despite speaking to multiple managers, no progress or updates on our repair has been given. Clearly Chevy is far more interested in selling you a car than honoring their warranty. We've now carried a car payment for a full month with no use of the vehicle, no communications, and no estimated time for repair. Save your money, buy a Honda. They don't waste your time letting the customer sort out their poor quality control for them and sell you a false promise of warranty repairs. Chevy couldn't even bother to offer up a loner vehicle to make up for their delays. read more

Beware: Ethically and morally challenged dealership sending people sweepstakes flyers in the mail that are a "bait and switch," and a complete lie wasting people's time. Don't know how this is legal (probably isn't), but someone should spend the court fee and challenge them in court on their "guaranteed winner" flyer they send out that checks out with the code they give you, then lie to you at the dealership and wastes your time (deceptive practices). If this is their business M.O. you definitely don't want to give this dealer any of your business. And by the looks of their lot, they don't have anything to sell anyways. Looks like I'll take my ZR2 order to somebody else after they sent their scam out and wasted my and everybody else's time on here commenting. Took my vehicle here for A/C service on July 18th to which the service department charged me $300 to diagnose the problem, and $100 for the 3 bottles of R134a to recharge the system. They also lied to my face multiple times like I was an idiot. 1) "Jeep A/C components are different from other vehicles.": Dude, if your guys can't follow a leak through an A/C system of any vehicle they should not be working as mechanics! 2) After 4 hours: "We didn't find a leak, so it may be in the dash.": If there is anything coming through my dash it would be the electronics, or cold air. And it's not cold air! 3) "We recharged the system, so you should be good for a while.": The system was not recharged until I got to Oregon on a camping trip, purchased my own bottles of R134a, to which it lasted a full day of cold air before depleting. My lesson is now learned, don't bring your vehicle to amateurs whom take your money, and don't resolve your problems. read more

Because of tax laws they have to add taxes, I'm non-resident from MT. I'm exempt from WA sales TAX! They argue with me and say I'm just trying to skirt from WA sales TAX.... But it's WA own TAX regulations that say i am clearly exempt from WA sales tax. Is it the air in WA the water or is it since they've legalized weed everyone has gotten dumber. read more

We've use this dealership twice now for oil changes in both of our cars and we have no complaints. Staff is friendly, the sweet, golden retriever running around is a big plus and they seem to be very accurate on timing estimates. My only complaint is that I wish their Waiting area was a bit more hospitable. The spacing and placement is awkward and there are a little to no refreshments available. read more

I was told one percentage rate on a truck purchase, when it came out to be 6% higher than what I originally signed for, i came back to return it and the GM told me there was nothing he could do my trade in pay off check had already been sent out, and he would never sell a vehicle that had been in 2 accidents on his lot said it was going to auction (which was a lie because they sold my trade in to a woman 2 weeks later that they did not disclose to her that it had 2 accidents on it which I did not know about until they showed me when I was trading it in) When I quickly got rid of the truck that had issues (traded in at a different dealership) I canceled my gap insurance and it was like pulling teeth trying to get ahold of the finance manager to get my $ back. Every time I called it would go straight to voicemail. I went in person and they told me he was not working that day. I asked them when was the next time he will be in? They said they were not sure (yea fkn right!) and they would call me when he was in... I came in the next day and bypassed them trying to talk to me at the front door and walked into the finance managers office. Crazy! He was there with a customer... I told him give me my check. Oddly enough he had it right there next to his desk and said it had been there for a couple days waiting for me to pick it up WORST FKN DEALERSHIP I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. Mail scam alert. My wife received one of Jerry Smith's big sale announcements with a list of prizes that matches a digital readout that you have to activate. Ours matched a prize for $1000. Being cynical, my wife called their office and spoke with Tiffany who confirmed that all we had to do was come in with an appointment. She went so far as to use the phrase, "Sure, just come on in and we'll get you a check. It should only take a few minutes." We got up early for a 0900 appointment and were met by Jeffery, a salesman wearing a suit, sneakers, and a ball cap. Jeffery immediately launched into an aggressive barrage of con man jargon and, when confronted by the reality that we are not in the market for a car and were resistant to him, pointed out that the number they match on the flier is a little number at the bottom which pointed out that we were, instead, the winners of a $25 gift certificate to their service department. He went in the back, got us one of their mass-produced certificates and then walked away without a handshake or even the slightest glance. He openly admitted that they send out 40k of these fliers and that they are in a period of aggressive trade-in deals. When my wife confronted him with what Tiffany had said, he looked her in the eye with open contempt and told her, "Nobody told you that on the phone." Even if we are ever in the market for a vehicle again, we will never go here. read more

I went to the Anacortes location in 2023to purchase a used Chevy equinox. I had been pre approved by my credit union for a loan. as a senior woman who lives alone, I asked two of the salesmen if this was a good car. it looked good and had lower miles. They assured me that it was. They said that they could get me a better loan rate without a hard pull on my credit. they ran my credit and dropped my score by three points. The 2010 Chevy equinox is a lemon! lots of recalls, bad engine and transmission. Within 8 months the engine failed, I put $3500 to fix it. after 13 months, the transmission failed. I still owe $7000 on this car. I have sent them letters and no response. I put less than 10k miles on this car. Nobody wants this car as a trade in, so it sits in my yard, undriveable, while I still make car payments and insurance payments every month! They knew about this car and sold it anyway. read more

I thought it was strange and brought it back to them and they said, sorry all sales are final on used vehicles. I got an estimate of the repairs needed from the CEL diagnostic. Came to over $1400. Brought it back and said I want my money back and my trade. They gave me back my money minus $700. Dealer said it was for taxes and fees. What a load of Crap! Went to a fund raiser, won the bid for an oil change, got my oil change, it took 1.5 hours to complete. Two days later I'm checking my oil and noticed my oil filler cap was missing. I went down there to see what happened, they didn't have a cap in stock. So he put duct tape over the tube to keep the oil from splashing out all over the oil soaked engine compartment that was already from the lack of my cap being there. The service department guy said hey I'll order one and call you when it gets here. So about 8 days pass and I figure I had better call and see what's up. They tell me it's there and come on in and we'll get you a new oil change and we'll get that engine compartment cleaned up for you. So I take it in and they put the cap on, they didn't clean my engine compartment very well, and they splashed the detergent up on to my front windshield and wipers. We were experiencing the classic Chevrolet PASSLOCK failure with our Trailblazer. I attempted to repair it by replacing a few sensors identified in the circuit diagrams, as the Engine Control Unit was not presenting any diagnostic codes. As I lacked the diagnostic tools needed to actually determine what was wrong, we decided to take the Trailblazer to the closest dealer, expecting that the dealer would have the proper diagnostic tools and trained mechanics. As we lived on South Whidbey Island, the closest dealer was Jerry Smith. My wife made the arrangements with a towing company and the service department to have the car towed to Jerry Smith. They spent some time with the truck, then then told my wife over the phone that we would need to spend $4000 for a cylinder head overhaul. Their recommendation was to either have them do the work, or trade it in and purchase another vehicle off of their lot. All of these options were going to cause us to spend a lot of money and take a financial beating on our truck. So I called, and received the same story. It became immediately apparent over the phone when I spoke to them, that their shop lacked the sophistication to even connect the truck to any computer diagnostic equipment (if they even have any). Instead they put new spark plugs in it, and somehow decided that the head needed overhaul. I immediately arranged to have the car towed again to Anacortes Automotive (http://anacortesautomotive.com), who promised to work our truck into their busy schedule. Anacortes Automotive correctly diagnosed that the Body Control Computer was not outputting the correct RS-232 serial data, and replaced the computer. They also change the oil and lubricated the chassis, and we drove the car home several days later after happily paying the $1300 repair bill. I can not recommend Jerry Smith Chevrolet. I do not believe that they are either an honest or ethical business. read more

Our Chevy Astro van needed its 100.000 mile check-up. Both the Brake and ABS lights were coming on intermittently so that needed to be addressed before the Fall weather set in. We decided to go to a Chevy dealership because we wanted certified Chevy technicians working on our vehicle. We chose Jerry Smith Chevrolet in Anacortes to do the work since we live on south Whidbey Island and did not want to hassle with the ferries going to the mainland. Two weeks, five 110 mile round trips and $3,331 later the brake problem has not been resolved. The vehicle is now undriveable due to a problem with the engine: first misfiring on acceleration and after a second trip to Jerry Smith Chevrolet, a stuck valve. There was no engine problem until after the vehicle was in the Service Department's possession. The ABS repair went from a computer replacement for about $1,200 (which did not solve the problem) to an ABS valve replacement for another $718 without any guarantee that would be the fix. The engine misfired at speeds over 50 miles an hour after being in the possession of the Service Department the first time. After we were convinced to bring it back to calibrate the ABS computer to fix the brake problem we were informed the van was no longer driveable. The Service Manager suggested we trade-in the van for a newer vehicle. We had to pay to have the van towed 55 miles home. All this on top of the almost $2,000 we were charged for the 100,000 mile checkup, a nearly empty gas tank, 200 unaccounted for miles and grease stains on the drivers seatbelt, cab ceiling and between the front seats. I cannot begin to describe how happy my husband and I are with the service at Jerry Smith. We came in with a low budget, a mediocre-at-best trade in, and a toddler. So clearly we were a low-budget sale, but that was not reflected for a moment in the treatment we enjoyed from Taylor and Allen. We were shown a gorgeous blue car, and my daughter fell in love with it immediately... And I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I fell in love, too. The one problem was that my husband and I don't drive stick! But don't worry, Taylor is such a fantastic guy that he took the time to teach us how to drive stick shift, and we were able to buy the perfect car. All of the modern safety features are there and it even has some bells and whistles I didn't dare to dream of in our price range. The price for my car is worth bragging about, but I don't want to make anyone jealous. ;) I can't believe how EASY it was to walk in, talk to Taylor, learn a new life skill, and buy an amazing car! It took about 3 hours at maximum, and it was all so smooth and perfect. I can't recommend Jerry Smith Chevrolet or Taylor enough. I've purchased cars through dealerships in the past and I've never wanted to go back for a second time... But if I had the money, I'd go back and buy a second car from them tomorrow. What other dealership would take the time to pretty much TEACH YOU TO DRIVE!? Nowhere. EDIT, 5 to 3 and back to 5 stars. Taylor helped us with good advice and honesty after learning of an issue with the car he sold us. They hire good people here, and I can't recommend Taylor enough. I made an appointment online to get my truck serviced, or at least I thought I did. I have a screenshot that says what date and time I requested for my appointment and what service I wanted done on my truck. I even made the appointment early in the day so I can get it serviced before I went to work. Well, when I got to Jerry Smith, they told me that their website doesn't tell them when someone makes an appointment online.. I drove a half hour just to get to anacortes... so you can imagine how I felt. I also put more miles on my truck and wasted gas, time, and energy just for them to turn me away. How was I supposed to know their website doesn't let them know when I make an appointment online? They need to update their system, or at least get rid of the option to make an appointment online if it doesn't let them know that someone made an appointment!! Not happy! read more

During the week of August 24 2013 I put an ad out on Craigslist to sell my 2011 Chevy Cruze. I received an email (which I still have) from Mark Phillips of Jerry Smith Chevrolet telling me he would be able to get me into a new car. I emailed him back stating that I was upside-down on my loan, that we are looking for an SUV and payments under $500 a month. Also, that I do not have great credit. Mr. Phillips assured me he can help and suggested we come down to the showroom. He asked me to be there on Thursday August 25th at 4:45 PM. We arrived and no Mr. Phillips. In fact an employee called him and he said he wasn't going to make it. At the same time he text me and said he would be there in 20 minutes. Needless to say, he never ever showed. In the meantime, the credit manager took all our information, copies of our check stubs, and we completed the application. We did not hear from anyone until late Saturday afternoon, it was Mark Phillips. His email stated he could get us into the Equinox he just needed more information from us but to come down and test drive our new car. So we arrived at the showroom on Sunday. We were greeted by Taylor a salesman who said Mark told him to help us. We test drove a 2013 Chevy Equinox (but they wanted us to test drive a Malibu, clearly a small car). The price on the Equinox was $33000. We continued to do more paperwork and then the game began of payment negotiations. This went on for 3 1/2 hours. We ended up leaving as the credit manager said he needed more time because the banks were closed and that we needed a letter of employment for my boyfriend who just started a new job this week. They were trying to get us into a lease. Several days later we still had no new car and many emails and phone calls. Finally Saturday August 31st I contacted the dealership and told them we had the letter of employment. I was told to email this too Dustin and I did. We did not hear from anyone the rest of the day. The next day, Sunday September 1st, I called Taylor and said we needed an answer today. During the day we both spoke to Taylor and Mark to include text messages and emails and phone calls. Several hours later, I received a phone call from Taylor stating he couldn't get us into the Equinox and that it was sold. We were furious, how could you sell a vehicle that we were in the middle of negotiations? My boyfriend called the dealership and asked to speak to the General Manager. He said to my boyfriend that he, the General Manger, called me and spoke directly to me stating he couldn't get the payments under $500. He said I told him, to forget the deal. I NEVER SPOKE TO ANY GENERAL MANAGER THAT DAY. I NEVER SAID TO FORGET THE DEAL. I ONLY SPOKE TO TAYLOR. WHY WOULD TAYLOR CALL ME AT 4:30 TO TELL ME THEY COULDN'T GET THE DEAL AND 2 MINUTES LATER MY BOYFRIEND CALLS THE GM AND GETS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY? The GM then told my boyfriend he didn't have time for this crap and HUNG UP ON HIM. This dealership treats people horribly. My point is this, THEY CONTACTED ME. I have every email and every text message and voice mails. We are furious that we spend an entire week working with these people and still no car. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

the sales department are rude as hell! i got 5 cars from them in the last 8 years. every time I have been rude, by them. the attitude changes after I get my credit sore checked, and definitely after I sign paper's. i have excellent credit. I get free oil change and had some problems with my truck . felt like my truck was pulling left. they had one of their mechanics drive it and test it out and said there was nothing wrong with it even though it pulls to the left. my mom went to see them today. and wasted her time. i was helping her get a car. so my time got wasted too. pulled my credit sore, and tell her she would have to wait 24 hours to hear from bank. when I had no problem with a bank proving me with my sore. yes I waited 2-3 hours. no big deal. but 24-48 hours? wasted my time. i called the place and got cut off . talked over. and sure i got bullied by i spoke to the guy Rey the day before so this wouldn't happen. i don't think Rey knows what he's doing. he's a lair. i will never go back to jerry smith again. treated my mom wrong. and me wrong. poor Service. sure Business is going downhill. read more

Horrible unethical dealership! Quoted me $4000 above asking price for a vehicle (I had seen the price on cars.com). Asked if I was married, like a women can't buy a car! Called my honey etc.. They lost my business. read more

I called to get service done on my car because I bought a brand new vehicle from there other lot and they were just rude and hung up when I told them I thought when you purchased a brand new car and your having service done that your paying for they would lend you a vehicle while you car is being worked on. I would never recommend you taking your vehicle to get serviced here read more
