I returned to this massage place because every time I have serious issues of knots in my body, a therapist named Kim who is working here is able to fix them. Thus I only make appointments with her. She is the BEST. Hence, it took seversl times of sessions and mostly 90 minutes of sessions for 3 weeks as my issues are big but they were so worth it. I was able to sleep 5-6 hours after the first 2 sessions. After the last session I was able to sleep 8 hours! No more insomnia. My body was all sore, tight, and ache-y and Kim knew it. She asked when was the last time I had a massage? Lol. Well more than a year ago! She gave hard massages so beware of the pressure but I love this kind of massage since it will fix my body. I came out as a brand new person. This is the best massage you can get. I am also a 15-years customer of this place. There are so many other massage places but I keep going back to this one when I have issues. The business changed owner but the massages still have the same quality.

Unfortunately, for the amount I spent and the quality of the experience I received, I felt like I needed to share it. I came here as a birthday experience and had really high hopes. The sauna and ice bath portion was actually great and probably the best part of my visit. Unfortunately, the one-hour massage was extremely disappointing. My total ended up being around $319 after everything, which made the overall value feel even worse considering how unhappy I was with the massage. I booked a lymphatic/Brazilian lymphatic massage and expected a much more effective and intentional treatment, especially for nearly $200. Instead, the massage was so gentle that I actually found myself feeling more stressed than relaxed. A lot of it felt like very light surface-level rubbing on my arms and legs. I have had several lymphatic massages before, so I had something to compare this experience to, and unfortunately this was by far my least enjoyable one. My massage therapist was Brittany, and I personally did not feel that the technique matched the quality I would expect at this price point. The wooden rollers used during the Brazilian lymphatic portion were also applied so lightly that I barely felt like they were doing anything. The gua sha portion on my face was disappointing as well. When she was using two gua sha tools at the same time, the movements felt mismatched and uncoordinated, to the point where it did not feel effective at all. It came across as very minimal effort. At one point, a hot towel was placed on me that was hot enough to make my body flinch. I immediately said that it was too hot, and what bothered me was that there was no apology or acknowledgment afterward. It is rare for me to spend an entire massage wishing it would end, but that was honestly how I felt. If I am spending almost $200 for one hour, I expect to leave feeling relaxed and like the treatment was worth the money. Instead, I left disappointed and frustrated, especially because this was supposed to be part of my birthday celebration. What made the experience worse was being asked about a 20% tip even after I had expressed that the massage was not what I expected. I understand tipping is customary, but given that I had already communicated my disappointment, the interaction felt uncomfortable. The sauna/ice bath experience was enjoyable, so I cannot say everything about Wrens was bad. But based on the massage experience and the overall price I paid, I personally would not return for a massage here. I really wanted to love this place, especially for my birthday, but unfortunately it was a major miss for me.

I called this place and they were ready to take me in 15 minutes. when I arrived, they asked for payment upfront. this is highly unusual and nowhere else that offers any kind of service (spa, salon, etc.) takes payment upfront. this should've been my first clue that clients often dispute the charges, so this is why they take it before the service. when i entered the massage area, I realized that you dont get your own room, and your massage bed is not partitioned, so its. shared room with about 10 beds. what ended up happening is that the guy next to me fell asleep and snored very loudly the ENTIRE time of my massage. obviously this prevents any sort of relaxation. so, effectively my massage was ruined. I could not ignore it and it was so so annoying to have to listen to. as far as my masseuse, there were a couple issues there too. first, the entire time he focused on the center section of my foot, he did not touch the toes or the heel. this place advertises itself as reflexology, and the toes are a major part of that. so that was extremely disappointing and I could've really used that part of the foot massage. if youre going to have a one-hour massage focused only on the feet, you have to do the ENTIRE foot, I felt like this is just obvious. however, I couldn't communicate with him at all as he doesnt speak english. second, he used SO much lotion, my feet felt like they were swimming in a swamp during the entire massage. it was horrible, and he couldnt get any real traction because of the insane amount of lotion. finally, at the end I tipped him about 13%, because I felt like he tried his best, however the overall environment there, plus his skills, was lacking. as we walked out, he walked through the door into the lobby and let it close in front of my face rather than holding it open for me. when I entered the lobby, the receptionist asked me how the service was. I told him about the snoring. he did not apologize, but instead said he could discount my service but could I please tip the masseuse more, since that wasn't his fault. then I explained the issue with the masseuse. he sad he would talk to him about it, and didn't end up discounting my service. this is the first time EVER in my entire life i have had someone ask me to tip more. not at any restaurant, bar, salon, spa, etc. has anyone ever said that, because it's common social etiquette that you NEVER ask for more tip, ESPECIALLY when you're told that there's a problem with the experience and/or service. this blew my mind that the masseuse ran to the receptionist right away to complain about his tip. and still no one apologized to me! needless to say, I will never come back!!

I had such a wonderful and personalized massage experience with Jerrie! She's located inside Newport Body Works, so make sure you drive into the plaza to find parking. From the beginning, Jerrie was incredibly welcoming. She actually met me outside and walked me in, which was such a thoughtful touch. What stood out to me was how personable she is. She took the time to ask about the type of massage and pressure I like, my problem areas, and even my music preference. All those little details made the whole experience feel much more comfortable and relaxing. I came in with some really stubborn knots and tension in my shoulders and legs, and within the one-hour session, she was able to work through them so well. Afterward, my entire body felt noticeably lighter and more relaxed. I was able to go about the rest of my day and get back to my normal activities feeling refreshed instead of sore or exhausted. I get massages regularly, so I definitely appreciate when I find someone who can actually make a noticeable difference in how my body feels. When I need a great massage, I go see Jerrie Le at Zen Bodywork in Costa Mesa. I've experienced numerous massage therapists and Jerrie is still the best. What makes her stand out from everyone else is her ability to incorporate multiple massage techniques (Thai, deep tissue, Swedish, etc.) into one unique session specialized for you. She has this ability to assess her patient by a few touches and know exactly what you need. She not only makes you feel good and relaxed after every session; she also heals you from physical ailments. Her massages are exceptionally strong, so if you are the type to squirm during a massage, make sure to let her know so she can adjust her level of pressure. My favorite part is the stretching she performs on you. I tend not to stretch very often so this is very vital to me and my health. She is very accommodating and nice. Her professional attitude makes you feel confident in her abilities. Prices are great and there are occasional deals you can take advantage of. Her stomach was also growling right next to my ear for much of the massage, which wasn't her fault, but it made it difficult to relax. The massage itself did not feel like a deep tissue massage. My quads, IT bands, and core muscles weren't worked on at all, and at times it felt like she was just feeling around. At one point, she rubbed my arms back and forth with so much friction that it felt like a Boy Scout trying to start a fire with a stick rather than an actual massage technique, and it almost felt like rug burn. The massage oil was another major issue. It had a strong medicinal scent, left a mild tingling and burning sensation on my skin, and wasn't hydrating at all. I left feeling worse than when I arrived, which is the exact opposite of what I expect after a massage.
