It was our last night in Paris and I wanted an AMAZING dinner somewhere at a Michelin rated restaurant. I found this place on Yelp and got a table early because we had tickets to summit the Eiffel Tower that evening. I figured if we were going to do the chef's 6 course tasting menu, then we would definitely need 2 hours.
Some words come to mind when I first walked into this restaurant: clean, elegant, not pretentious. We were greeted by a handsome fella and we were the only ones in there so we got to choose our table. We chose one by the window.
After much deliberation, we did end up getting the 6 course tasting menu even though my friend wasn't hungry. In order to get the tasting menu, all parties at the table had to order it. I would've been perfectly fine with the 3 course pre fixe meal. Eh, it was our last night in Paris, why not???
I'm going to royally eff up the names of the dishes we had so I'll just describe what we were given:
Amuse bouche - two little falafel balls with hummus and two chips with a sort of whipped avocado topping on it. The falafel was delicious! Probably the best falafel I've had.
1st course - tomato gazpacho. This was just ok for me. The flavors were wonderful (I could taste lots of garlic), but I'm not a huge fan of gazpacho.
2nd course - white fish ceviche. Yum! The white fish was very delicate and it paired well with the cabbage, radish, and that same whipped avocado topping. It was very nicely done.
3rd course - shrimp with onion in pea sauce. The shrimp was pretty big, almost like the size of a prawn. I felt like the shrimp could have been infused with more flavor though, but the pea sauce and tender onion really made this dish.
4th course - chicken breast and peas. My short description does not do this dish justice. The chicken breast was very moist and tender and the sauce complemented it very nicely. It felt like a fancy version of comfort food.
5th course - truffle cheese. I love truffle cheese and it was a great way to cleanse my palette for the final and most favorite course... dessert!
6th course - Mille-feuille with caramel sauce. Yes!!! This was the dessert I wanted to try while in Paris and it did not disappoint. It was, by far, my most favorite dish on this tasting menu. It was light, airy, not too sweet, and the caramel sauce was perfection!
Overall, I gave it 4 stars because the food was delectable and the service was wonderful, but when I think of a Michelin-rated restaurant, I'm expecting more complex flavors and food that would get me to say "mmmm" more. I would come back here again and try the 3 course menu. It's a steal at €55-€65! The tasting menu was €85. read more
