Interestingly, within a week of receiving the shutdown email, their social media accounts, contact information, and website were all taken down, which raised suspicion among other practices. They wanted to understand the reasons for the sudden closure to avoid facing similar issues. What struck us as particularly strange was the timing of the email we received--Wednesday night at 9 PM--informing us that they were shutting down immediately. Why announce such critical news at night? It felt incredibly sketchy. I reached out to them, hoping for recommendations or at least an estimated timeline for a refund, but it's been nearly two weeks without any response. By the sounds of it no one really knew this shit down was happening and by the sound of other reviews the midwives where also caught of guard. I don't blame them, the owner needs to step out of hiding and give us a direct answer to our questions and refunds. Unless she planned on getting as many non-refundable deposits and leave the beginning of the year, switch pretty much looks like she did. I'm truly sorry for every single pregnant person that made the decision to get services here and then get ripped off as many of us either paid the full amount from savings / credit . California is already expensive to live in and then this happening is really shameful.

My hope in writing this is that no one else is scammed by her as me and many other couples were as she appears to still be offering personal doula and birth class services and lives in Long Beach. 2 months after paying Meredith in full for our birth services, we received an email telling us the center was closed permanently with no notice, no referrals, and no info on reimbursement. She hasn't returned phone calls or emails from anyone I have spoken to and apparently skipped out on paying employees. She also deleted all social media, the website itself, and access to our client portals with our medical records. It has been almost two weeks and none of us have received any word about the over $8,400 many of us paid despite many attempts to contact her. Please do not go into business with her!! She left women at 37 weeks pregnant with no notice and nowhere to go and not so much as a word since her email of closure! I, personally, spent almost all I had saved to give my baby the best start possible and trusted her to do that only to be left with nothing. Hard lesson learned.

This is the second birth I have had with Lorraine. For both births Lorraine was AMAZING! We had a…read morephone call and a one on one meeting where we talked about my goals and fears. We went over my birth plan and baby plan as well. In between we kept in contact via txt which is fine by me since I am a busy mom! I was able to text her and ask her advice and she was always incredibly knowledgeable and responded quickly. We were even able to chat the morning of my birth and try to find out if I was in labor or not. I was I am so grateful Lorraine was able to be with us for the birth of our baby. I know that I was able to have the birth I always wanted because she consistently advocated for us. My labor started that morning and she was able to help us decide when we should go to the hospital. I arrived at the hospital and she came within a few minutes of my arriving. All I wanted to do was labor in the position I wanted to labor in. She immediately started asking my hospital team if we could move have intermittent monitoring and was answering all of their questions about my birth. She was even able to give them our birth plan because (I forgot) and answer all their questions so I could focus on laboring. I loved hearing from my husband that the staff at the hospital were to the point where they just were watching my birth. Lorraine was guiding me the whole time. They came in last minute as I was feeling pressure to push and that was it. Even then Lorraine was helping me identify that sensation and that it was ok to push if I felt like it. I'm so grateful that I was able to birth the way I needed to on my terms and no matter what it felt like there was no other option. They had to follow MY lead and that made it all the better. I know there's so many times I felt like I was going to lose my focus on pressure waves but Lorraine's voice brought it back and reminded me I could do this. Remembering my cues and to relax between pressure waves. I gave myself permission to do what I needed because she reminded me that I could. I gave birth a a very healthy baby girl 9lbs4oz and 20.5inches. I am so thankful that Lorraine was that educated voice with the hospital staff. with us and always making me feel like my wishes came first. Lorraine guided me and reminded me to listen to my body and trust it. I have no idea how I could've achieved all of that without her. She has even been able to advise me Postpartum and answer all my questions. I couldn't be happier with my experience.

They have you fill out a "preferences" questionnaire that asks if you prefer talking, no talking or talking only if it's self initiated - which is a nice touch because sometimes you just don't have the capacity or desire to talk. My masseuse was good. I got a basic massage and the scalp oil treatment as an add-on. The massage was good but the scalp massage seemed a little short but I would get it again. The facility was clean, the only issue was the water pressure in the bathroom. The faucet was a tiny stream and the toilet didn't flush after several tries. I let them know and they said it was an issue with the entire LBX property. I didn't use the shower. Hopefully will be fixed soon. The price was good comparatively speaking. Overall, I will be going back!
