Switching from a traditional OB office over to Long Beach Birth Center was the best decision I could have made for my pregnancy journey. This was my 2nd time as a client of the birth center and I'm forever grateful for their care and compassion. Appointments at LBBC are never rushed and always thorough. I never felt like I couldn't call or text the midwives with any questions that arose and they were always kind and supportive. I truly loved getting the opportunity to get to know everyone at the office and their patience did not go unnoticed. The facility is clean and the birthing rooms are so intimate and calming. I loved being able to labor in the tub. Yes, it can be expensive to pay out of pocket entirely, but ultimately it was a decision I would make again. The level of care is unmatched. Having your birth plan respected and carried out to the best of their ability was priceless to me. Someone was always there for me when I needed them during pregnancy, labor, and in those first couple months postpartum. To reassure me, to listen to my thoughts and concerns, to care for me. I could go on and on but just know they wholeheartedly care about their patients. Ray, Jen, Kim, Genevieve, Rachel, Meredith, everyone at LBBC, thank you! I highly recommend LBBC if you're looking for a holistic, full service birth center, where your birth plan will be respected and honored.

I gave birth to my second child at LB Birth Center this past July. I had such a great experience. My first child's birth was in a hospital and there were a few things I hadn't liked about that process. I knew this time around I wanted both my prenatal care, and birth to come from an environment that would support and encourage my decision for a natural birth. At the birthing center, the entire team was really helpful and supportive. Each team member, in their own uniqueness, added to my enjoyable experience. Jennifer was so easy to talk to and form a relationship with from the very beginning. She truly makes everyone feel comfortable when they walk in. She also encapsulated my placenta which was so awesome! Meredith lead my husband and I in a useful birth prep class that was included in our care. Genevieve was so sweet and fun to chat with in our appointments. Kimberly delivered our boy and I felt so safe in her care. Ray, who is the most gentle human being in the world, provided me with most of my prenatal care. Forming a relationship where I felt comfortable and secure with them throughout the duration of my pregnancy was so great. I also had to take my toddler to all of my prenatal appointments with me and Ray was so good with him. Having a space where everyone was kind to my son, and there were toys and books for him, not only made it so much easier for me while I was pregnant, but it also made me feel like he was really welcome there with me. Our birth went really well and it was so nice getting to have who I wanted in the room during the birth, having the option of a tub, and being released soon after the birth (especially because I had a toddler at home waiting for me). The rooms are also so inviting and comfortable. It just felt like I was delivering at home instead of in a sterile hospital environment. Our labor was pretty fast so my only negative was that I wish I had more time to get settled in at the birthing center before pushing, but if a fast birth is my only complaint about the experience then I'll take it! Overall everything was great and if we have another child I definitely look forward to reaching out to the midwives again.

Me and my partner received care at the Long Beach birth center from about 12wks pregnancy through birth (March 2023) to 2mo postpartum. I cannot say more beautiful or wonderful things about everyone on staff, the environment, and just the peace and joy that overwhelms me when I think about having my second baby. My first was born in a hospital, and while I had a doula, the moment we left my home, it was an anxious experience. That is not the case with my second baby who was born in the Long Beach birth center tub, my partner holding my baby underwater and passing him to me with the support of the experienced and non invasive care of our midwives. My doula was respected by staff and mostly the entire experience was one driven by my needs and the needs of my baby. When I wanted to move things along, options were offered to me, when I wanted to pause and rest, I could. No one every forced me to push, to take meds, or to do anything. And this was all in the comfort of a space that looked like my bedroom, essential oils, dim lit electric candles, absolutely no crazy fluorescent lights. And! After giving birth, I could eat my mothers home cooked soup because I wasn't restricted on what I could bring. If I could and was blessed enough to have a third baby, I wouldn't hesitate to work with be Long Beach birth center again! Finally, if you are a new pregnant person, the Long Beach birthing center includes various classes (virtual and in person) in the package. So, we did some refreshers of breastfeeding, postpartum support, managing labor or pains (breathing etc.). Look no further!! Don't believe me?!? - my joyful photo says it all

We had our first baby at LBBC and had the best experience. I was able to give birth to my daughter in the tub and it was such a beautiful experience. The midwives & and team were all so amazing throughout my pregnancy, giving me the support I needed. We will 100% be going back if we get pregnant again.

I had an amazing experience with LBBC throughout my pregnancy, labor, and birth. I gave birth to my first daughter in March 2023. I had an incredibly long, difficult labor (28 hours at the birth center) and Genevieve and Jen were there for 24 of those. They were steadfast in their support, they empowered me to be in control of my birth (I delivered her myself! Which was my dream), and they brainstormed with me and my partner for new things to try when I was discouraged. They were so encouraging and they believed in me and my body when I did not. They got along very well as a team with my partner and my doula which made the environment very peaceful, and they always knew when to step in or when to give us space. I felt very comfortable trusting them with my health and my safety, as well as my daughters during such a vulnerable time. They handled every complication and every setback with positivity and discussed things with my partner and I thoroughly. Their office was always communicative and flexible for appointments and rescheduling to accommodate us, their front desk staff was friendly, and their midwives were medically and holistically knowledgeable. Their birth center rooms are well stocked and very intimate, they allowed us to set up string lights and bring our own essential oils during labor to create our optimal birth environment. My partner and I are so grateful for this team and could not be more pleased with our experience here.

    Birth Team!

This review is long overdue seeing how my bad girl is 9 months old now. However, I can't tell you how much I loved it here and all of the wonderful humans who work there. I had a hard but magical birth experience here. I had amazing support throughout the whole thing. I never could've done it without my amazing birth team.

From the very beginning, we knew we did not want a hospital birth--both because of the high costs and the increased rate of C-sections. Finding the right midwife felt urgent and incredibly important, especially since this was my first pregnancy. That's when we found Laura. From the first conversation, my husband and Laura connected very well, and after meeting her in person, we knew she was the right choice. Laura made me feel truly welcomed, cared for, heard, and supported--something that meant everything to me as a first-time mom. At every appointment, Laura took the time to explain how our baby was doing, confirmed that she was positioned correctly, and walked us through what to expect at each stage. She guided me on workouts, nutrition, and overall prenatal care, always making sure I felt confident and informed. Anytime I had worries or questions, Laura reassured us that our baby girl was progressing beautifully, which brought us so much peace throughout the pregnancy. When the big day finally arrived, labor began early in the morning but didn't turn active until the following day. At around 3 a.m. in June, our little girl decided it was finally time. Labor was long, but Laura and her team were absolutely incredible. They supported me every step of the way--offering water, snacks, encouragement, and constant reassurance. They regularly checked our baby's heartbeat to ensure she was doing well and never made me feel rushed or pressured. I had planned on a water birth, but my body had other plans--and Laura was so supportive and adaptable, honoring what my body needed in the moment. By morning, our baby girl arrived (quite literally popping out!), and Laura guided me calmly and confidently through delivery. Her presence made me feel relaxed, safe, and completely cared for. Laura and her team handled everything with such professionalism and compassion, allowing me to focus entirely on welcoming my daughter into the world. I also can't say enough great things about her lactation consultant, Chelsea, who was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Laura even recommended our pediatrician and doctor, which made the transition into postpartum care seamless. Because of Laura, I was able to spend extra, uninterrupted time bonding with my baby girl, and that experience is something I will forever cherish. I am beyond grateful that Laura was available when we needed her most. If I am ever pregnant again, there is no question--I would absolutely return to Laura without hesitation. Thank you Laura for all the support you have given us!

I moved to Redondo Beach at 30 weeks pregnant, searching for a midwife for a VBAC after two…read moreC-sections. Despite warnings, I hired Laura because she had experienced a VBA2C herself, which made me feel confident in her abilities. I paid $7,000 before 37 weeks, but from the start, red flags appeared. Laura frequently overshared personal issues- venting about her husband mistreating her and why recent clients were transferred to the hospital. She described one transfer as a mother "refusing to get on her hands and knees despite being in pain." It felt like more of her clients were being transferred than successfully giving birth at her center. Additionally, she and her children were constantly sick, making me worry about exposure as a pregnant mom with toddlers. As my due date approached, she had me sign paperwork with business names from other midwives, clearly copied and pasted, which felt sloppy and unprofessional. When my water broke, she gave me swabs that were supposed to turn bright blue if it was amniotic fluid. Even though I knew my water had broken, the test initially didn't change color, so Laura dismissed it, insisting I had urinated on myself. It took days for a proper swab to confirm it, delaying care and increasing my risk of infection. When I expressed concern, she casually asked if I "wanted to go to the hospital," then told me that legally she'd have to transfer me after three days- completely disregarding the fact that I had been telling her about my water breaking all along. At one of my appointments, she introduced another midwife, Amy, which made me uncomfortable because Laura had previously vented to me about how Amy "wouldn't stop touching her" during her own labor despite being asked not to. She even called Amy the B-word and said Amy walked out on her during labor. Knowing this, it felt extremely unprofessional that she brought her in to assist with my care. Later, Laura accused me of avoiding check-ups, which was untrue and upsetting. I lived three minutes from the birthing center and was always willing to come in. Despite her personal struggles, I had even offered to support her. During labor, Laura's birth assistant, Haika, was the only good part of my experience. She was kind, gentle, and truly passionate about birth work. If you're looking for a midwife, I highly recommend skipping Laura and going straight to Haika. When Haika was present, I was progressing well, reaching 7 cm. But when Laura took over so Haika could rest, everything changed. Her cervical exams were painful, rough, and intrusive. Her energy was intimidating, and I stopped progressing. Eventually, I had to transfer to the hospital, and honestly, I was relieved to leave. At the hospital, I received an epidural, which allowed me to relax enough to fully dilate, but during my stay, I was also sexually harassed by a doctor who is now under investigation at Cedars. After birth, I discovered that Laura had taken several photos of my private areas without my consent. I asked her to delete them, and while she agreed, she never did so in front of me. She also failed to complete my postpartum visits, using her constant illnesses as an excuse, but never reached out to reschedule or check on me or my newborn. Seven months later, she sent me a Mother's Day text, but by then, I had nothing more to say--she never followed through on the care I paid for. It took me a year to write this, but it needs to be shared. My experience was the opposite of the glowing reviews I read before hiring her. Every time she gets a negative review, a friend posts a five-star one, but those of us who've actually worked with her know the truth. I've since connected with other former clients who had similar experiences. If you're searching for a midwife, please reconsider working with Laura. This is a warning from one mother to another- there are far better options. ** and just like i said, immediately after Laura gets a negative review, she asks a friend (or it could be her behind a fake profile) to give a 5 star review. She's extremely toxic and if you work with her- you will 100% see how accurate the negative reviews are. Hire at your own risk!

Our home birth in water -- in an inflatable pool -- was as comfortable as it could possibly be, and that is largely thanks to your professionalism and the love with which you do your work. It truly inspires admiration. Thank you for enabling us with the knowledge and tools to help create our space for the portal between worlds. A special thank you for your team -- having a second professional midwife there doubled our sense of confidence and peace. My wife and I received exactly the experience we had dreamed of. With Tasha and her team's help, we brought a new soul into this world in such caring and trustworthy hands. We highly recommend Tasha for anyone that is interested in safe home birth and who wants to create their dream birth experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Choosing Tasha was one of the easiest and best decisions we made during my pregnancy. She was the…read morefirst midwife I interviewed, and I immediately felt that no one else would compare. She is incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate. From the very beginning, I felt genuinely cared for-- something I hadn't experienced prior to transferring my care. Prenatal visits with Tasha were never rushed. We would often spend over an hour together because I always had questions, and she always had thoughtful, thorough answers. She approached everything holistically and helped me navigate a few bumps in my pregnancy naturally and confidently. I always trusted that she would help me figure anything out. My labor started slowly, with contractions coming and going for a couple of days before things intensified. By Thursday, I had gone an entire night without sleep, dealing with painful and unpredictable contractions. Tasha came early that morning to check on me and guided me through next steps. When things progressed, she returned and calmly began preparing for the birth. At around 10am, I was half way dilated and 80% effaced. She helped guide positioning changes when baby needed to shift, and throughout everything, she remained calm, grounded, and reassuring. Labor was the most intense, overwhelming experience I've ever gone through--I was exhausted, in extreme pain, and at times felt completely consumed by it. But Tasha's presence never wavered. Even when I felt like I couldn't handle it, she reminded me that my body was doing exactly what it needed to do. I had planned for a natural home water birth, and while I was extremely determined, I also trusted that if anything truly required medical intervention, Tasha would guide me to make the right call. Throughout labor, she continued to monitor the baby and reassured me that everything was progressing safely. When it came time to push, I followed my body's lead through the contractions. With one final, deep push, my son's head was born, followed shortly by the rest of his body. My husband was able to catch him and place him directly onto my chest--an unforgettable moment. After the birth, Tasha stayed for hours, helping me recover, supporting breastfeeding, and making sure both baby and I were doing well. She also supported me through postpartum anxiety at our visits, talking me through my fears and reminding me to take care of myself, too. I am so grateful I had Tasha guiding me through my pregnancy and birth. I felt safe, supported, and deeply cared for every step of the way. I would not change a single part of my care with her, and I cannot recommend Tasha enough to anyone looking for a midwife who is both deeply skilled and genuinely compassionate.

Are you kidding me????…read more Sarah was in the top three of the best things that happened to us during the birth of our daughter!!! I've told her time and time again she under charges for her services, since she comes to your house more than once, she is there for the birth and does a follow up. She is the reason my wife was able to go through labor drug free and almost pain free (ask my wife she actually says its not that painful) plus she helped our cousin with a natural birth in a hospital too. Sarah is a certified Hypnobirthing doula, I should add which worked really well for us. So if your flavor is a home birth, birth center or hospital birth she is the one to call since she can work in all scenarios and without getting in the way of the Doctors, Nurses or Midwife. She is respectful of your wishes and your birth plan. Everyone should know she works all over the southland so if you are in Pasadena, OC, Westside, you name it she will likely do it. I'll happily call her for the next baby....if the wife lets us have one ;-)

To say I had a difficult pregnancy would be an understatement... We still wanted to have the most natural birth we could and Sarah patiently walked us through all of our questions and concerns. Any time we had a question come up she was right there to walk us through it and if she didn't have an immediate answer she would point us in the right direction. We had an emergency induction and were incredibly scared. Sarah was right there with us every step of the way... This sweet woman slept in her car so she could be there the moment it was go time. There's no doubt in our minds we would have ended up in a C-Section had she not been there in my face keeping me going. She was an amazing support to my husband as well as we were not prepared mentally for what we were going through. After 33 hours of induced labor we still had the natural birth we had so desperately wanted. This woman is a god send. Why doulas arent covered by insurance is beyond me, but our investment in Sarah was worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and hire Sarah, I promise you that you won't regret it.

Working with Tabare was one the best decisions we made for this journey…read more Tabare is humble, knowledgeable, and has amazing communication.(We are "i" person ).But beyond that, she's like the "mom" you didn't know you needed--caring, supportive, and with a heart of shining gold. For example , she actually called the numbers from the brochures the hospital gave to us and identified some confusing information. When my wife's water broke at midnight, Tabare responded to our cellphone msg and offered advice.we went to Hoag Irvine at 4 AM, and Tabare was already there waiting for us. While we are waiting In the triage room, she massaged, reassured, and tried different techniques to keep my wife comfortable. Honestly, she was the busiest and most calming person in the room. Tabare is positive, responsive, and down-to-earth. Working with her felt like having the world's best wedding planner--but for your baby's birth. We prepared together, learned together, and teamed up with the midwives for an amazing, joyful experience. As a first-time dad, I can't thank her enough. Now I'm telling every expectant parent: if you can, work with a Doula; If you made the decision, I recommend Tabare. You'll laugh, you'll feel supported, and you'll look back with the joyful and wonderful experience and memories. Ok, let's talk about the cons: 1 The telephone operator - The OCWM 24/7 response line that night was disappointing. The operator didn't seem to care, made several basic mistakes, and wasted a lot of my time. I eventually had to hang up and call another number for help. 2 Nurse issue - We probably came in during the night shift change. While Tabare and I were outside in the lobby doing paperwork to gain access, my wife was in pain and left alone in the triage room with one nurse. Later, my wife told me the nurse was pressuring her to make decisions and struggled with something as basic as a blood draw.(I just cannot believe how amateur it is for a blood draw) Husbands, NEVER leave your wife alone in the hospital!

To say that Taba stepped up to the plate is an understatement. As I was sobbing on the phone full of anxiety trying to impart my entire story to her she ended it with clear direction - "it sounds like I need to be there with you when you go in" - I can't tell you the amount of weight that lifted off my chest when she uttered that sentence to me. My first birth was during the pandemic and resulted in a traumatic emergency c section so my anxiety was through the roof. Taba's sense of humor, confidence, relationship management style, incredible experience/knowledge, and her amazing ability to download my information made me feel so comfortable. She never left my side when I needed her. She supported my partner in helping him understand when he could step in and standing in when he couldn't. Without Taba I wouldn't have felt confident pushing for more options, making it clear what I consented to, etc. this birth was my redemption birth and I owe a lot of it to Taba.

Faith and her team were so helpful during my appointments, helping me make sure my body and pregnancy stayed healthy. She guided me in improving my nutrition and keeping my blood sugar managed, and she connected me to a maternal fetal medicine provider for extra monitoring since I had an IVF pregnancy. Faith took my birth plan seriously and knew how important it was to me to have a water birth, so when she let me know my labor wasn't progressing enough and told me I needed to transfer to a hospital, I was able to trust her judgement. She remained available over text message for questions as well. Then in our postpartum visits Faith was so kind in hearing me as I processed the birth experience I had in the hospital and how it really wasn't what I had wanted/envisioned. She offered me a rebonding session in the birth room where I could basically redo my golden hour. It was such a healing experience. Faith and her team also helped me with filling for disability and completing that paperwork, which was super important to support me on my maternity leave. I'm grateful for the support and treatment I received at Mind Body Birth.

I felt supported every step of the way. I chose a home birth and felt fully prepared, informed, and confident because of them. I also have a pelvic pain condition and had real doubts about whether I could do this. With my first child, I wasn't able to have the birth of my choice because I couldn't tolerate cervical checks. That experience stayed with me. This time was completely different. My midwife--Faith did not check me one single time. And for the FIRST time in my entire reproductive health experience, I felt completely seen, heard, and believed. My wishes were 100% respected. Our family is forever grateful to the whole MBB family. We love you Tam, Faith, Tchalla, Ellen, Tahira and Dr. Sarah! TK,

There was an instant connection and we knew she would be the best fit for our growing family. Not only is Sue warm hearted, trustworthy and reliable, she is extremely good at what she does. Here are some numbers if you are more of a factual person. Sue has attended over 700 home births and out of those her hospital transport for c-section rate is about 3%. Hospital rates are about 35% or greater. Holy smokes isn't that incredible. That is a ton of healthy babies that she has successfully brought into this world providing not only the mamas but also the families with a tremendous amount of love and support. An added bonus is Sue is always accessible via text or calls for any questions or concerns that may come up. Also, I highly recommend the documentary( the business of being born). Extremely informative and was another added bonus on why a home birth was best for our family. I can't forget to mention I had the most caring and supportive doula Tessa alongside with Sue. I know I forever have a friend and am over the moon thankful for everything she has done not only for me personally but also for our family.
