I honestly can't say enough good things about Looma Birth and its founder Elizabeth. I'm a single woman who got pregnant through IVF because I desperately wanted to be a mom and was running out of time. I met Elizabeth at the beginning of my first trimester in Prenatal yoga (she was my instructor). I loved Elizbeth's Birth Education Classes, I took all three. Empowered Hospital Birth helped me not only learn what to expect but also how important it is to advocate for the birth experience you want and to have others in the room ready to do just that on your behalf. In Empowering Postpartum Prep, I learned how to prepare in advance for what coming home from the hospital would be like - which was critical in my situation as there wouldn't be anyone there to take care of us or help me. Empowered Breastfeeding as you might expect taught me how to breastfeed, Looma also had a Breastfeeding circle that gave lots of support after my daughter was born. Elizabeth also matched me to my Absolutely AMAZING Birth Doula, Raylene. To say that Raylene went above and beyond for me would be an understatement, I never felt alone with Raylene by my side, she even taught the nurses new techniques. Looma continued to support us after my daughter was born. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I met my tribe through their New Mama Circle, the moms I met in that 6 week class are now family, we support each other through thick and thin.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I took their infant CPR class while pregnant, and then again after my daughter was born and brought her with me to make sure I knew exactly how to do each exercise on her. My daughter and I really bonded through their infant massage classes. And I started to heal my body through their Postpartum Bliss yoga classes which were taught by one of the mom's from my Mom Circle and where I met even more moms that are now family. I even found my daughter's phenomenal daycare/preschool (Little Sunshine House) through a session with Looma's Breastfeeding Doula, Brittany. As a first time mom, I was nervous and clueless about birth and how to handle a newborn. Elizabeth was both my birth and postpartum doula and she helped me achieve the exact birth experience that I wanted as well as (dare I say...) a newborn stage I actually enjoyed! I will always look back on my labor & postpartum experience with happiness because I felt so supported by Elizabeth and her team. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Elizabeth took away all the anxieties I had about labor and birth by talking me through my worries on FaceTime calls, texts, and in-person visits.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband and I also took the "Empowered Hospital Birth Intensive" course at Looma studio, which was 10x more informative than the free virtual one I did through my hospital. I especially appreciated that the class emphasized how to advocate for yourself at the hospital -- something I hadn't even considered that I could do. My birth ended up being exactly what I had written for my birth preferences -- Elizabeth helped encourage me through some intense contractions while I was at home and at the hospital, she was by my side until my sweet baby girl was born! In our first week home from the hospital, Elizabeth sprung into action to help me with breastfeeding -- she helped me with a better latch, taught me all the confusing rules that come with pumping and storing milk, and came up with a weekly plan to establish supply. Without her help I definitely would have struggled with supply since I had to use formula the first couple weeks due to my baby's jaundice. If you are considering getting a doula, stop considering and just do it! First time mom during the thick of the pandemic in 2021 and I had no idea what I was doing. Elizabeth was amazing. From the interview process till we met our son, she was there for us. She made sure that my husband and I had all the knowledge we needed going into the hospital. And she was super helpful in assisting with pain management. During my whole pregnancy, I had a "plan" on how I wanted the labor and delivery to go. My husband and I hired Elizabeth as our birth doula for the birth of our first child in April 2022. This review is long overdue, and I went back and forth on if I would share. Ultimately, my husband and I agreed we needed to share our experience for closure. Hearing great things from family and friends on the positive experiences they had with their own birth doulas, I was excited when we found Elizabeth to add to our support team. She was always kind and encouraging throughout my pregnancy and I was looking forward to having her support during labor as well. That excitement sadly turned into disappointment during the birth of our daughter. We hired Elizabeth with the expectation that she would offer support and assistance throughout the labor and delivery process. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. Elizabeth came to the hospital to set up the room with affirmation pages and tea light candles, which was wonderful. She was there when my water broke and when I had my epidural placed to offer support. Once I was settled, she stated she would be returning home to rest and would come back once things were further along. I had been induced and things were moving slowly so we absolutely understood her wanting to come back once things progressed. I had reached back out to her once things were moving along and I was experiencing pain, needing her support. She returned back to the hospital at that point. Shortly after this during the labor, which was a traumatic event for me, Elizabeth stated she needed to lay down. She laid down on my husband's bed the hospital had provided for him as I was in the thick of pushing. She started yelling faint words of encouragement with her eyes closed from across the room seemingly half asleep. My husband and I were shocked to find that she had indeed fallen asleep for about an hour and a half during this time. This left me without the crucial support I was counting on and which we had discussed extensively prior to the birth. My husband and I paid a significant amount for her services, believing that her presence and expertise would provide the emotional and physical support we needed. Instead, I felt abandoned during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. My husband finally stated that they were calling the doctor in and asked her if she would like to wake up. When she awoke there was no apology or explanation and she continued to sit in silence on the bed. Myself, my husband and the hospital care team were stunned. I want to emphasize that this is not written out of anger, but rather from a place of disappointment and hurt as I did not receive the same experience so many of you detail having. My expectation, based on our previous conversations and her professional assurances, was that she would be fully present and engaged throughout the process. The reality of the situation was far from what we had anticipated, and it added an additional layer of distress to an already challenging experience. We had paid in full for a service that was not fully rendered. I encountered a list of health issues and suffered a hemorrhage immediately following birth so we were not able to address the situation in the hospital with Elizabeth. I want to stress it is extremely important for birth doulas to communicate openly and honestly with their clients, especially when it concerns their ability to perform their duties. At no point did Elizabeth mention having any issues or conditions that could have impacted her ability to perform her duties on the day of the birth. I only wish that if she could not perform the services agreed upon that she would have called in a back up doula. We had been introduced to Aubrey a few weeks prior and would have been more than happy to have her step in. What ended up transpiring was unprofessional, unacceptable and ultimately left us with a negative impact on our already traumatic birthing experience. I just so badly wish our experience was different. read more

Engaging Looma Birth for birth and postpartum support was the best decision I made during pregnancy. Elizabeth was my birth doula and made the entire journey from pregnancy to birth so much easier. I know this is probably too long of a review, but I wanted any family to know if you are choosing Elizabeth and Aubrey as your doulas, you're not just choosing anyone. These women have dedicated their lives to serving their families and offer so much meaningful love and support while doing so. You will not regret choosing Looma Birth for your doula or postpartum doula services. I had met with Elizabeth on my quest to find the right doula while pregnant with my first earth angel. My husband and I ended up choosing another doula, who worked in my midwifery practice and at the time offered a sliding scale payment method for her services which aligned with our finances at that moment in time. Throughout the birth of my first daughter, I felt supported from that doula, but having the opportunity to reflect on it... I do believe something was missing. Having remembered Elizabeth and even having the opportunity to become a friend of hers through her yoga classes, I immediately reached out to her in my third trimester to ask her to be our doula for the birth of my second daughter. Elizabeth, having already had a previously planned family vacation, still accommodated our need of wanting her as our doula, with the good chance she would not be present at our birth and Aubrey would fill in. Elizabeth ensured that Aubrey and I developed a relationship and connection just as I did with her prior to Ellie Mae's arrival. Elizabeth checked in with our family with warm messages of love, created opportunities for us to meet to go over and actually practice different birthing strategies/techniques (I.e robozo), and even made herself accessible on her family vacation to us. Even though we only hired Elizabeth at the end of my pregnancy journey, I felt like she'd been there all along. Intuitively I knew Ellie Mae had her own plan and clearly wanted Elizabeth to be a part of it. Elizabeth always made herself available via text, emailed me postpartum resources, and helped to provide me with all my healthcare choices when I thought at 39 weeks I had COVID and would have to change my service providers. Elizabeth stood alongside me when I felt like the pregnant lady who cried wolf and got excited for my earth angels arrival on two occasions. The most incredible part of Elizabeth was that she just knew. She knew how to stay in her role, but yet offer our little family all the best love, support and guidance that we ever did need. Even when I didn't believe I was in active labor, she instinctually knew I was and immediately came to support my husband and I. Elizabeth's care didn't stop even though she was our birth doula but continued to support us as we journeyed into the sleep deprived postpartum journey. Our family does not live close by and to know that we had support in those first few weeks after Ellie was here was and is so meaningful. To say that Elizabeth became part of our family is an understatement. She was there when my daughters met for the first time, helping my husband and I document it so we could be present to watch the love unfold. We also used Elizabeth to make my placenta pills and tincture, which I had no aversion to but a rather positive experience. She also stood by my side and helped connect me to the right providers for my daughters tongue tie and breast feeding issues. Elizabeth has meant so much to me as I have become a mom. We picked Elizabeth to be our doula because I felt such a connection with her. Unfortunately since my son was born in March 2020 and pandemic rules Elizabeth wasn't able to attend his birth. But she provided so much loving care during such a crazy time. After both of my births Elizabeth encapsulated my placenta which I found immensely helpful during my postpartum recovery. Since Elizabeth came into our lives as our doula I've also attended baby and me yoga classes and prenatal yoga. Both virtually and in person Elizabeth is an amazing yoga teacher. Having Elizabeth as part of our birth experience was one of the best decisions we could have made when bringing our first baby into this world! As a first time mom, I knew I wanted extra support, and from the moment I spoke with Elizabeth she made me feel so at ease, so confident, and I knew that she was the doula for us! Elizabeth was the first doula we spoke with, and she genuinely encouraged us to speak with more doulas, just so we felt 100% confident in our choice. I really loved that she was looking out for our best interest above everything. After speaking with others, it only confirmed what I already knew, Elizabeth was our gal! Not only did she provide amazing support during COVID, which is a scary time for pregnant mamas as is, she also provided additional resources virtually to help us feel prepared. I took both the Prenatal Yoga classes as well as the Birth Prep class in addition to her doula services and both were phenomenal. She kept us updated on hospital standards for doulas every step of the way so we knew what to expect. Unfortunately, since our son was born at 36 weeks and came very quickly, we were not able to have Elizabeth at the birth with us. But I would not have felt nearly as prepared without her pre and postnatal support. I hired Aubrey as my birth and postpartum doula as well as Elizabeth for my placenta encapsulation and the whole experience was a dream. They are some of the kindest, most supportive and caring women out there. If you're looking for the best birth team around, they are it! Aubrey was available to me throughout my pregnancy and became a crucial element in helping me achieve my dream birth and VBAC. Labor was a week long process for me and she supported me every day. If you are able to book Elizabeth, you will be making one of the best Mom decisions of your life. I had her as my postpartum night doula for 7 weeks after my C-Section, and there is no doubt in my mind that she is the reason why my recovery was smooth and my breastfeeding journey has been successful. My first delivery was traumatic. It took me months to recover, my anxiety was was intense and every moment of breastfeeding was a nightmare. This time around, my biggest goal was to be able to still get time with my older child and have an established breastfeeding relationship with my new baby and she helped me achieve that and more. I also had her encapsulate and tincture my placenta, which I whole heartedly believe played a role in why I did not suffer from postpartum anxiety the way I did from my first baby. Elizabeth is incredibly nurturing, knowledgable and hard working. Many nights I just needed her to talk me through my worries and she would build up my confidence about what I was capable of and how to maintain my milk supply, while ensuring I was well nourished with snacks, food and beverages at all times. She went above and beyond what was asked of her and would make sure there were no loose ends before she left. A hot breakfast, lemon water, snacks and coffee would all be waiting for me (often with a sweet note) and would help me start my day off right. If you're like me and a first time mom who feels scared and clueless on what to expect then I highly recommend working with Elizabeth. I first met Elizabeth when my partner and I took her empowered hospital birth, comfort cares, newborn basics, and fourth trimester success classes. We walked out of those classes feeling extremely knowledgeable on what to expect. I knew my medical right, terminology, and most importantly what is happening to my body. Once I was actually in labor the hospital medical team told me that they were impressed on my knowledge with all that was happening and that is thanks to Elizabeth. Elizabeth is the reason that I had such an amazing birth experience! My husband and I got pregnant in the start of the pandemic which means we were due right in the middle, September 2020. I knew I wanted to try to have a natural birth but there were not many options when it came to child birthing classes and having a doula in person with you during your delivery. We weren't even sure if my husband would be allowed in the delivery room with me! With all of the uncertainties and scariness of COVID, I began to panic upcoming our birth. Three months prior to our delivery date we met Elizabeth and we instantly felt more comfortable and supported. We did the virtual doula package with her and it was amazing! We had multiple (virtual)  meetings that were broken up into introduction, pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. Before each meeting, she would send over hand outs and reading materials that would educate and prepare us for the meetings. So when it came to the meetings it just felt like we were chatting. She also is certified with Hypnobirthing and walked us through the whole process. She also sent over a cute delivery day care package before our date including essential oils, lactation cookies and tea, and a crystal. After all the meetings with Elizabeth, I felt knowledgeable so it was really easy to write a birth plan and feel really confident about it! When it came to our expecting time, we kept in constant contact through texts, facetimes and phone calls. She taught us about the whole labor process and even massages and pressure points my husband used to ease the pressure during labor. When things would come up that were not according to our birth plan, we discussed my options and either proceeded like the doctors has suggested or went with what Elizabeth had recommended. Everything turned out great! We had gotten the natural birth that we wanted and I was so relaxed throughout the whole process that I went into the hospital at 8cm dilated! Even after the birth of our son, Elizabeth checked up on us to make sure that we were doing alright. She sent over articles and videos that helped with breastfeeding troubles that I was experiencing. During the first week I started to feel a shift in my hormones and immediately started taking my placenta pills, a few days later I felt completely normal again! I've had the pleasure of working with *almost* everyone at Looma: Elizabeth in prenatal yoga, and Aubrey and Kayla as my postpartum doulas. Each interaction is warm and filled with care.
