You're only a patient/partner in the Hospital until you get one of these!

When I first saw Marisol, the first thing that came to my mind was "This is a Mexican version of the superhero STORM!" She even has the same super cool white streak of hair. To be honest, at first I was kinda whatever about going. I think a lot of us guys have this initial feeling. I thought, how complicated can having a baby be? Then when my wife told me how long the class would be, I was like whaaaaaaat?! But once everyone breaks the ice, this class becomes very informative and fun. I learned a lot of things that I believe every dad and mom should know. I especially liked that Marisol teaches you what options parents have for having the best possible natural birth, and if it's not going to be a natural birth what you can expect with other options. She has lots of hands on experience and can give you examples and scenarios she has personally experienced, which I liked a lot. Nothing like having a person that has been there and done it. She is very knowledgeable about a lot of different aspects of the pregnant/birthing process, and she gladly answers all questions she is asked...even if it pertains to guys wondering if they can latch the baby to their nipple to sooth the baby if mom is not around to do so! LoL. I would highly recommend this course to any one that is about to experience pregnancy and all of the beautiful moments of the entire process. Btw, make sure to do your weekly HW or else....You should def read everything, lots of good information. I can legitimately say I am an OFFICIAL COACH. Definitely will be adding this to my job resume for the future. Marisol you are my hero. -Chris O "You're barely crowning"

I am so happy to write this 5 star review for Together In Birth. Marisol played a major role in the birth of my son and without her we would not have had the knowledge and confidence to advocate for ourselves not just at the birth but also during pregnancy. My husband and I took Marisol's Bradley Method 12 week childbirth education class and it was worth every second of our time and every penny. This class not only educated us on all things pregnancy and birth, but also taught us how to advocate for ourselves and each other. Taking this class with my husband brought us closer together during my pregnancy. It helped us keep our communication open with each other in what we each were wanting out of this whole experience of pregnancy and childbirth. Because of this class my husband and I were able to confidently walk into our prenatal visits with our list of questions for our care provider. We were able to make time each week to connect with one another as my husband lead me into relaxation techniques we learned in class. Marisol's charismatic personality and passion for her work made each class so much fun and left us excited at the end of each class every week for the next class to come. We also hired Marisol to be our birth Doula. Marisol's calming spirit and maternal side helped support me emotionally during my son's birth which is exactly what I needed and what I was looking for in a Doula. Because we had already spent 3 months in her Bradley class, our Doula prenatal visits went so smoothly. In our prenatal visit Marisol incorporated a beautiful intention setting ceremony. I didn't know how much I needed that until it happened. During this prenatal I set intentions for my birth and for my baby's life. She led me into a meditation where I let go of any fears or concerns. She really helped me prepare mentally, physically, and spiritually. During the birth Marisol and my husband made the best team together. Each by my side at all times providing support in the way I needed them to individually. I'm very stubborn and don't like being told what to do (especially if it's coming from my husband lol), but Marisol had a way of connecting with me in the moment and encouraging me to get into positions that would help me get baby down and out. Immediately after I gave birth Marisol stayed by my side to make sure we were settled. She literally hand fed me as my midwives were tending to me and the baby. She also made sure baby was fed too. I was able to get baby latched on but since Marisol is also a lactation educator and counselor, I asked her if she can check the latch to make sure we were breastfeeding correctly. She assured me we were. Before she left she made sure I had all the snacks and drinks within arms reach. If I did not have Marisol there by my side guiding me and supporting me I think my birth would have turned out very different. It was her guiding voice and maternal touch that was a key factor in me having the homebirth I've always dreamed of. I can't thank you enough Marisol. Love you!

I really wanted to know everything I possibly could and I was also looking for a little community as I was feeling very alone in those first weeks of pregnancy (and overwhelmed with what I didn't know). AND THESE CLASSES DELIVERED! My husband is also a knowledge seeker so when I told him these were the classes I wanted he was all in. We learned so much. We joke that he didn't just learn about the natural birth process he learned how to be my "daddy doula". We still enjoy talking to people about everything we learned and how to support each other and how to speak to your doctors or the hospital nurses. Even if you aren't considering a natural birth these classes should be taken by everyone expecting a baby. You learn about the body, you learn about the different stages of labor, how to prep your body and your mind. There is even a class on breastfeeding which was invaluable those first 3 days postpartum. Lia is also an amazing teacher. If I have another I would definitely also hire her as my doula. She is a person you want in your corner during birth.

Danellia was our natural birth educator thru @LaFuente and I highly recommend her class. For those…read moreof you worried about cost, you get a lot of bang for your buck-- she really is providing you 3 services for the price of 1. Here's the breakdown: +Birth Educator She is super knowledgable and passionate. I watched a ton of videos and read a ton of articles, but she helped synthesize the info so it wasn't overwhelming. Her descriptions of the stages of birth gave me a clear roadmap of what to anticipate. She made abstract and complex concepts easy to understand. (Here's looking at you Effacement Balloon exercise) Compared to 3 free Kaiser classes, this HANDS DOWN was more valuable. Those classes were redundant, with little substantive info. One of her 10 min videos on lactation clearly presented info that took more than 2-hours in the Kaiser lactation course. (Read the KP workbook available online to get the essence of the info.) +Pre-game Doula She gave us an outline for a birth plan. She discussed possible interventions and methods to advocate for yourself. If you don't have a doula this is INCREDIBLY helpful. If you do, it is still valuable. I came into my doula sessions more informed, like I had a second opinion, and I could hone in on the areas of specific concern. Plus, I knew what to expect and ask of my doula Stevie Merino @solandrootsdoula (who I love and also recommend btw). So in essence, Danellia optimizes the value of your doula services. Her real world experience with local hospitals let us get into the nitty gritty and ask real specific questions. I used some of her pain management technique (with my doula and partner), an adaptation of her breathing technique, and her ice exercise in the labor room and for the surges (contractions) before hand. +Counselor She was the counselor that we didn't know we would need. I vacillated between being a ball of anxiety, rage, and ease and my partner was real worked up as well (more so during pregnancy, than postpartum). I'll attribute that to not knowing what to expect, internalized pressure, and hormones I figure. But for me Danellia greatest strength was in holding space where you could share your worries and ask ALL your questions and even frustrations. She held it compassionately, non-judgmentally, and normalized what was happening. And unlike another paid program we did, it was beyond mental/logical support, it was that AND she was a settled and calming energy. In summary, just do it. Sign up for her class. Check out @LaFuente. I hear it is available virtually too now. Birth and postpartum is challenging, especially these days. So get all the support you can get! Regardless, may you have a pregnancy and birth filled with ease.

I was so pleased to have received Danellia's placenta encapsulation service. Danellia is very kind,…read moreprofessional, and knowledgeable. You can hear the passion for her work in the way she speaks about it. She explained everything thoroughly to me as to what her encapsulation service entails and how pick up and drop off would work. When it came to being in labor I didn't have to worry about a thing. Danellia and my birth team were able to communicate with one another to make sure she knew I would be giving birth soon. The day after I gave birth Danellia was able to swiftly pick up my placenta and take it for processing. It was important to me to have a photo of this beautiful organ that my body grew to keep my baby alive all 9 months. Not only did Danellia take a photo, she made sure to make it extra special placing beautiful herbs next to the placenta for the photo. A couple days later my placenta was already encapsulated, made into a tincture, and ready for drop off. So we coordinated a smooth drop off where I received my entire placenta package which included placenta pills, placenta tincture, placenta print, and umbilical cord keepsake. But of course with how caring Danellia is she went a step further and brought along some soup for my husband and I and a traditional Mexican postpartum drink for me called atole. This meant so much to us as we were only 3 days postpartum and had 0 time or energy to cook meals for ourselves. My placenta print came out so beautiful! Im so excited to frame it and hang it in my son's room. The placenta pills have been super helpful in giving me energy, establishing my milk supply, and stabilizing my hormones which in turn stabilizes my mood. In fact my placenta pills gave me so much energy I could only take them earlier in the day. If I waited until the afternoon to take them I would be up late at night! Aside from that I loved the way the package was put together and presented. Danellia gifted me some herbs from her garden and had a card in the bag that explained how to take the placenta pills and tincture. I am 6 weeks postpartum now and can now start taking my tincture which I'm so happy to have! I chose to have a tincture made because it will last forever since it is an alcohol extract. Overall I was so happy I made the decision to have this sacred organ encapsulated by someone who has so much respect for it and for birthing people. The energy that went into my capsules was important which is why I specifically chose Danellia and her grounding, calming, loving energy. Thank you Danellia for supporting me during my postpartum journey.

Working with Tabare was one the best decisions we made for this journey…read more Tabare is humble, knowledgeable, and has amazing communication.(We are "i" person ).But beyond that, she's like the "mom" you didn't know you needed--caring, supportive, and with a heart of shining gold. For example , she actually called the numbers from the brochures the hospital gave to us and identified some confusing information. When my wife's water broke at midnight, Tabare responded to our cellphone msg and offered advice.we went to Hoag Irvine at 4 AM, and Tabare was already there waiting for us. While we are waiting In the triage room, she massaged, reassured, and tried different techniques to keep my wife comfortable. Honestly, she was the busiest and most calming person in the room. Tabare is positive, responsive, and down-to-earth. Working with her felt like having the world's best wedding planner--but for your baby's birth. We prepared together, learned together, and teamed up with the midwives for an amazing, joyful experience. As a first-time dad, I can't thank her enough. Now I'm telling every expectant parent: if you can, work with a Doula; If you made the decision, I recommend Tabare. You'll laugh, you'll feel supported, and you'll look back with the joyful and wonderful experience and memories. Ok, let's talk about the cons: 1 The telephone operator - The OCWM 24/7 response line that night was disappointing. The operator didn't seem to care, made several basic mistakes, and wasted a lot of my time. I eventually had to hang up and call another number for help. 2 Nurse issue - We probably came in during the night shift change. While Tabare and I were outside in the lobby doing paperwork to gain access, my wife was in pain and left alone in the triage room with one nurse. Later, my wife told me the nurse was pressuring her to make decisions and struggled with something as basic as a blood draw.(I just cannot believe how amateur it is for a blood draw) Husbands, NEVER leave your wife alone in the hospital!

My first birth was during the pandemic and resulted in a traumatic emergency c section so my anxiety was through the roof. Taba's sense of humor, confidence, relationship management style, incredible experience/knowledge, and her amazing ability to download my information made me feel so comfortable. She never left my side when I needed her. She supported my partner in helping him understand when he could step in and standing in when he couldn't. Pregnancy and giving birth was one of the most meaningful and empowering experiences of my life,…read moreand Holly played an extraordinary role in making it that way. Working with her from pregnancy through postpartum was nothing short of transformative. From the moment she took us on as clients, I felt deeply seen, cared for, and empowered. Throughout my pregnancy, she provided a wealth of resources -- from dietary guidance and exercise tips to ways to promote the growth of my baby and prepare for labor -- and helped me process and make informed decisions for myself. She anticipated questions before I even had them and ensured I felt knowledgeable and confident every step of the way about all the decisions we faced. Holly made the entire process beautiful, spiritual, informed, and deeply connected. She helped me get in touch with my own needs and empowered both me and my husband to feel confident and capable throughout. During labor and delivery, she was with us every step of the way -- whether on the phone or coming to our home to assist me in labor and guide us on navigating the transition to the hospital. In those moments of extreme intensity, Holly was so in tune with me; she knew exactly what to say and how to help me navigate each wave. It felt like she, my husband, and I were in a shared trance, and I felt completely held and nurtured. I wanted a natural labor, and Holly championed that goal every step of the way; I truly believe I would not have been able to achieve a natural birth in a hospital without her. Immediately postpartum, Holly continued to be an incredible presence during the intense and sometimes overwhelming adjustment to life on the other side of birth. She listened deeply, advocated for my mental and physical health, and again never imposed her opinions. Instead, she helped us think clearly, process our emotions, and understand our own decisions and feelings, giving us confidence in our new roles as parents. What's incredible about Holly is that she ensures you are informed, know your rights, and understand all your choices -- while always advocating for you -- yet she never makes decisions for you. She is non-judgmental, full of positivity, love, and light, and makes the journey feel sacred, grounded, and empowering. Holly is an exceptional doula and guide -- she truly transforms the birth experience. She is absolutely incredible.

Review #1017 -…read more Kudos to Holly...seriously we really enjoyed having her on our birthing team. My wife had called and wanted to interview a variety of people and within a spectrum of birthing paths. We chose Holly and it was a very good experience. First off, my wife had a wonderful phone call with her...and she was available and willing to answer all things. We then met her locally and had a face to face interview. Holly was respectful of the birth path my wife wanted, she offer advice and her experience. While we were interviewing her at a local coffee shop she was approached by another client with her recently born baby. We got to see the level of interaction between that new mom and Holly. Very impressive to see the happiness of another parent with the person she chose. So as a Dad to be, there was also the need to convince me...i wanted to make sure my wife had every person and resource. So the expense of a doula was justified pretty easily. But i wanted an active role in the birth plan and birth experience. Holly was great to me. Attentive. Gentle. She was okay with me being there in the delivery stuff and an active part of it. She did not shrug me off or anything, I was able to feel very close to my wife and newborn in the moment. My wife really loved all Holly did for her when the time came to start the birthing process. Once we knew it was go time...we planned to stay home a while and Holly came to our place and worked the first 12-15 hours with her. Then she perfectly timed the "when to go to the hospital" and as that progressed she was very preset and active with us. She was awesome and seeing how well she'd coached my wife was incredible. We got a healthy baby and my wife came through it amazingly. Holly was a very good resource and served us well as the "Offensive Coordinator" calling the plays and helping us through the game plan. Holly is super. Follow up and coaching didn't end with the hospital. She's been so good at checking in and keeping us in the learning and adjustment. Easy 5 stars!!

We went over my birth plan and baby plan as well. In between we kept in contact via txt which is fine by me since I am a busy mom! I was able to text her and ask her advice and she was always incredibly knowledgeable and responded quickly. We were even able to chat the morning of my birth and try to find out if I was in labor or not. I was I am so grateful Lorraine was able to be with us for the birth of our baby. I know that I was able to have the birth I always wanted because she consistently advocated for us. My labor started that morning and she was able to help us decide when we should go to the hospital. I arrived at the hospital and she came within a few minutes of my arriving. All I wanted to do was labor in the position I wanted to labor in. She immediately started asking my hospital team if we could move have intermittent monitoring and was answering all of their questions about my birth. She was even able to give them our birth plan because (I forgot) and answer all their questions so I could focus on laboring. I loved hearing from my husband that the staff at the hospital were to the point where they just were watching my birth. Lorraine was guiding me the whole time. They came in last minute as I was feeling pressure to push and that was it. Even then Lorraine was helping me identify that sensation and that it was ok to push if I felt like it. I'm so grateful that I was able to birth the way I needed to on my terms and no matter what it felt like there was no other option. They had to follow MY lead and that made it all the better. I know there's so many times I felt like I was going to lose my focus on pressure waves but Lorraine's voice brought it back and reminded me I could do this. Remembering my cues and to relax between pressure waves. I gave myself permission to do what I needed because she reminded me that I could. I gave birth a a very healthy baby girl 9lbs4oz and 20.5inches. I am so thankful that Lorraine was that educated voice with the hospital staff. with us and always making me feel like my wishes came first. Lorraine guided me and reminded me to listen to my body and trust it. I have no idea how I could've achieved all of that without her.
