Good little market right on the coast. Gas prices were not bad considering there's nothing else anywhere near by. We stopped for gas and I browsed the convenience store. Good, if small, selection of snacks, drinks, dairy products, picnic supplies, etc. Fresh made sandwiches at the counter. I'd stop here again. :)

It's a small friendly country market. The owner did not have what I needed, but immediately offered to call the next "C-Store" up the road.

We were there for the beer revival festival at Stumptown Brewery and when we parked we were approached by someone from MD gas station who demanded $10 from me to park. He offered no credentials. There were no legally posted private property or tow away zone signs. I would bet my life they do not have a permit from the city to charge for parking, even if they do own the building in front of which people were parking. So, I told him to pound sand. He freaked out and said he would have me towed, took a pic of my license plate, pretended he was on the phone with the police, and stormed off ranting in some other language. I knew he was full of crap so we grabbed our things and went and had a good time. When we got back, he was sitting outside the gas station, glaring angrily at us. I laughed at him because our car was still there, just like I knew it would be. I feel sorry for all the other cars parked along the road there that most likely paid the $10 to someone that has no power to stop you from legally parking in those spaces. Bottom line is know your rights. Having a car towed in California, even from your own property, is almost impossible to do legally without having all the proper signage and markings. For the people who live in Guerneville and are stuck with these people as neighbors, I am sorry for you. I will be back next year, and I will park in the same spot, for free.

I live in a travel trailer and get propane (firewood, kindling, best Mexican hot chocolate ever). Then they started giving me so much grief because I asked them to put the 7.5 gallon tanks in my car when they fill them. At first it was tense but okay. Then they started arguing with me saying they didn't have to help me. I explained to them I have a handicap placard since my twenties due to a life long muscle issue. I told them I was in my seventies though look younger. So I showed them my drivers license. The older of the two younger owners sons or nephews was very kind at first and he said they'd help me. But since then there have been 4 times when they said they didn't have to help me. The most recent event was such a bad experience. The younger of the two young men at first flat refused to help me. I explained (again for the fourth time) my situation. And the younger one said to me. We won't help you again. Don't come back for propane unless you have someone to help you. It sounds silly but I was shaking because it felt like a slap in the face. I'm single, a retired social worker with a serious disability and in my seventies and live in a travel trailer where I have to haul propane sometimes twice a week when it's cold. I have granddaughters who are 9 and 18 and the18 year old isn't strong enough to help me. My daughter lives a distance and works out of town so she can't help me either. It was quite disappointing and disheartening. So I went down the road to Bridgeway Gas. They were so kind and said we got you. And are happy to help you. They are wonderful and kind people. It's such a relief to know u don't have to beg or fight for them to help me.

I am out of gas, I have 0 miles per gauge information, so this is my best bet. I jumped out and within 10 seconds knocked on the window, where all the lights were on and I could not see anyone. Then a woman quickly shuffles by and does not look at me. I knocked again, and she shook her head. I said "oh no, I don't need anything in the store I just need gas." She proceeded to tell me that it's shut down. I asked nicely and reminded her that I pulled in when the lights were on. She just told me it's shut down. I then pleaded a little bit to my embarrassment, please please I am out of gas, and I am in a moving truck as I am moving about three hours away. She turned away and walked, shaking her head and refused to give me gas. This is disgusting, it's ridiculous, I mean Sonoma County, the kind gentler place. This woman is rushing to get home and cannot even allow a customer a couple gallons of gas. She wants to argue that it's shut down and will not even listen to the fact that I was here when the lights were on. I won't say anymore, except that I will never ever come to this place again. This is an example of human sludge, selfish, nothing to give, worthless, low life, heartless, scummy, white trashy, did I mention selfish? OK, that's it, I'm just gonna go back to calling AAA and trying to get some gas. I did notice that she is afraid to come out. I'm afraid she might call the police on me, what do you think? She knows she's kind of a disgusting human and is ashamed. Maybe I'm taking this too far, but dearest humans, who are we if we can't help someone out? Especially when it's not going to even cause any inconvenience whatsoever? I'd be on my way by now!

I paid for my purchase and drove off to my next destination. Luckily I checked the food package before eating it. It was over two months expired. I wish I would've looked at it while I was still at the store. Needless to say, I ended up throwing away my snack and my stomach growled during my work visit. What a delightful market this is, a must stop during any road trip up this way. You can get nearly anything you'd ever need from toothpaste, milk, cheese, chips, detergent, on and on... they even have two gas pumps. They sell ice too. There's a small cafe serving incredibly good things, including hand made sandwiches (we had a 'Rocketman' and an 'Architect'... being an Architect I loved being so honored!). Both sandwiches were utterly fresh, delicious and tasty. They have several specialty type sandwiches, as were these two, or you may customize one. They sell coffees and other drinks too.
