I was pleasantly surprised that this general store had such high quality merchandise. The children's section had unique toys and wonderful books. For such a small store, it was packed with wonderful finds for all ages. Their T-shirt and sweatshirt selection was well stocked. This was a cute little grocery store. I was thrilled to see a selection of gluten free and dairy free food, though I confess I didn't check the prices. They had lots of Christmas decor at very reasonable prices. Some fun clothing and gifty items. We ordered hot cocoa, one with almond milk and one with oat milk. Both good. Seemed reasonably priced. This general store! Wow! Modern/beach-chic, clean, and well-stocked! It may be the only option near by, but it's a great option! We went in to grab a few drinks for the drive home from the beach and will definitely be back for pre-beach snacks and drinks next time. See my photo of the freshly baked galettes - it took all my willpower to resist them! Shhh...don't tell anyone else but I heard that the galettes are cheaper at the store than they are at their adjacent restaurant! In true general store fashion you'll find a little of everything. They sell general grocery items, a variety of local and gourmet snack options including pre-made cheese plates, eggs, ice, wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, sunscreen, beach blankets, towels, clothes, cards, mugs, stickers, candles.... Boards and wetsuits are available for rent. They also offer soft serve ice cream and made-to-order Equator coffee! Walking up to this old fashion licking store I wasn't too sure what I was in for and as I walked in it had a small parlor area similar to what my dad told me they have in Canada as they would remove their boots and then go into the actual Fourier of the rest of the house! I'm not too sure if this building was originally a house or just a general store, but it's very iconic, and Old fashion with a modern twist! There were at least two people working behind the counter, and a handful of eclectic local items on each counter, as well as grocery and specialty items! I have a number of food allergies, and I was surprised to see they actually had some gluten-free and vegan boxed items! Not to mention a huge assortment of local wines, as well as snacks such as meats, cheeses, and fresh fruits! The coffee looked delicious, and there was ice cream!! I wish I could've spent more time in there, but as we walked in a group of maybe 20 people came in after us, and I was just overwhelmed by too many people, so we left. But I love the store and it's ambience!! They also had some beach building toys for the children! We ended up going to the restaurant next-door since it was outdoors and see my review on that! We stayed at lawsons landing and came to the store to purchase some items morning of 1/22. The day before we spent about $100 in the store. We were getting breakfast items that morning and my son asked to use the restroom and we were told we had to go down to the beach which is a $10 entry fee to use the restrooms. We were the only ones in the store and he couldn't wait so we just left to head back to the campground. Wasn't worth driving all the way back. Been coming here for years and was disappointed with the employees snobby attitude. This place has gone downhill despite their "farmhouse" makeover. Was better years ago. Maybe new owners, I'm not sure. An establishment like this should have a restroom for paying customers. Get supplies in town before coming to the Dillon Beach. read more

Living at the beach is great except when you forget an ingredient for dinner. Nobody wants to drive 30 minutes into town for olives. Thank god for the Dillon Beach Resort Store. Staffed by nice local folks and stocked with stuff you might need for a beach picnic or a cooking emergency. The deli-style green olives that I purchased were fresh tasting and delicious. I managed to resist the unique local soft serve this time but I'll be back soon. If only they could get the Buffalo milk one like they have in Point Reyes. read more

The owners of this place should be ashamed of themselves. They take advantage of their customers. Not like the previous store. Gone are the staple items people need when they are far from town, replaced by boutique-y type things you can buy on Amazon for half the price. My kid went to the store today and bought an ice cream, a single bag of chips and a lemon aid. He was charged $22. Thanks for taking advantage of my kid and obviously countless others. Loved the beach but wasn't a huge fan of this store. They didn't have much stocked in terms of food for the beach. The items I did buy were expired and I had to walk back up and get a refund. I think they should have more fairly priced beach food in stock. read more

Cute remodel but beware of the expiration dates and condition of the items you purchase. On my first visit I noticed a woman was talking to the person at the register as she was trying to get a refund/exchange for a jarred item she had just purchased because it had an expiration date that was a year past the present. They did not give her a refund. On my second trip, I went to purchase a bag of chips and notice bite marks on the bag, in fact a few of the bags had been tampered with and the person at the register traded out the bag I thought I had selected carefully for that reason. Then when I walked out, I noticed I had been overcharged $5 for the beverage I had selected but because I didn't request a receipt, I was out of luck. Buyer beware in the shop; it's cute, convenient so you'll be lured in but just be cautious. read more

A beautifully laid out, quaint and homey store for the remote haven of Dillon Beach. Prices are higher than Safeway, of course - it's a half hour away from the closest freeway, so logic says that's the right call. The prices of this store are absurd. A bag of chips is 7$ and a crappy sandwich that was soggy was 14$. The customer service is always terrible the employees are just on their phones. No restrooms. My 17-year-old son just got back from taking the dog to Dillon Beach. He stopped here to get something to eat. Sees a turkey and cheese sandwich all wrapped up really nicely in paper wrapping. He thinks "Wow, $14.00, but hey it's probably a really good sandwich with the way it's all wrapped up, etc". He just got home, shows me the sandwich and we were both blown away. American or Velveeta cheese, horribly processed chicken/turkey meat, and mustard on wheat. Check out the picture. My family and I hadn't been up here for a while and I was stunned by the changes they've made to this store. The renovation is nice and modern and the place needed it but everything else sucks !Inventory has completely changed and is overpriced. if I ran out of basics like sugar, milk or eggs, this was my go to store but now I might as well consider it closed because I'm not gonna find anything I can use here. Most of the store is filled with fancy expensive beers, wines and very little spirits. The young ladies who work here are not welcoming and don't greet customers, if they greet you it's really fake and forced. I've been coming to Dillon Beach for over 45 years and have seen the many transformations of the store. Maybe some of you remember the coffee/hot chocolate vending machine and photos of sharks that greeted you as you entered the store in the 70s. A lot of the complaints I have read on Yelp are petty. It's the only store in town. It's going to be more expensive than what you're used to and if you're surprised by this, maybe you should should stick to not venturing far beyond your local Applebees. I've have never been treated rudely---past or present. The store stocks a lot of basic essentials and more. Be grateful that it exists and provides the convenience of not having to drive back to Petaluma because you forgot to pick up charcoal or a bottle of wine. read more

40 years of shopping here, in the beginning it was ALL about candy and souvenirs- just like most kids! Over the last 20 years or so, at LEAST one visit annually. This past October Family Vacay, new lighter weight hoodies! Love them! Family is purchasing/renovating home up the hill (Kona).....so many more shopping stops to come! Board wax, skim board, and sunscreen every summer. Hoodies in fall. Love our "Other Fam" here at the store. This place has everything. And not just any run of the mill general essentials. They got nice high end organic items. Killer wine selection. And great selection of local craft beers. Good eggs good organic milk. I loved it! If u want cheapo stuff drive to the nearest gas station. If you want organic soft serve or a mean pour over this is your spot. I'm a bit of an SF Bay Area snob so this place was heaven. It's pricey so be prepared to pay for quality. The service is friendly and fast. bought a pint of frozen clam chowder that they make in the cafe there for $16. young lady who sold it to me says its the best around. it was a runny broth horrible fish soup with more rock cod in it than clams. so bad could not finish it. so i did my usual and went to spud point in bodega bay for clam chowder, always awesom we there. i go to lawsons landing frequently but not stopping at dillon beach store no more, as prices are vefy high better to go to lawsons store read more

We love Dillon beach. Been coming since our boy was a babe...24 years. Grateful for the family that has stewarded this land for all these years. That said, the experience at the general store has changed dramatically. I should say that I myself wear a Dillon beach beenie with pride :). What I cannot tolerate is the snobby service of one blond barista. THAT is the change that tips the scale for me. That the wine prices are jacked up for tourists...along with most other products...that is tolerable especial as we are a wine family from Napa. We bring our own, but for those that don't know...I'd highly recommend packing in your own stash from a nearby Whole Foods (15-20 min max). As for the blond barista that looked down on me for needing more milk that 2 oz in my double shot/10oz cup/$5 Capp, maybe it's time to move on? Your attitude shines through and is seen by all. Not what anyone wants on a lovely Sat morning... And...I agree with another reviewer. For those who are shopping, visiting, a public bathroom is paramount. If you don't try the soft-serve ice cream here you are really missing something. It is so good and from a local dairy. The espresso drinks are fantastic. I also tried kombucha for the first time here. And love it! The Pinot Sage is my favorite but the Original Oak is also outstanding. I love that they try to keep fresh produce options and nice organic eggs and dairy for us. This whole store just makes me happy the moment I walk in. Love It!!! read more

Huh, I can't believe that no one has reviewed this place! Well...given that many of my fondest childhood memories were spent camping in Lawsons Landing and lumbering up the hill to eat ice cream bars while sitting on those nice benches overlooking the beach, prices (which can be sort of steep) and parking (which can be a nuisance sometimes) really doesn't matter as I write this review - and I suspect that's true for more than a few folks. This place is a community treasure and a part of the local fabric - 5 stars is justified and appropriate. read more
