I had an initial call with Erika before I signed the contract and shared the concerns I had with my skin and hair to get recommendations. Leading up to the wedding day, they have an online platform to fill out details like the type of skin you have, hair type, and an option to include inspo photos for hair and makeup. They were always quick to respond via email and I thoroughly enjoyed my interaction leading up to the wedding. I requested 3 hair and makeup, 1 bride hair and makeup + trial session, and groom pampering. The services were expected to be completed between 9-12:30 pm. I had my hair and make up trial a few days before my wedding with Erika and it was a wonderful experience. I timed my trial and it took 1.5 hrs to do makeup then hair. I shared some changes I wanted for the wedding day after the fact via email and reminded them of the changes and feedback I shared during the wedding day. Fast forward to the wedding day. We drove over an hour with traffic to the venue, on my way there and received a call and text from Erika informing me that her hair stylist was running late. This is understandable, we are human and traffic is unpredictable so okay that's fine. They were expected to be set up at 8:45 am, with us arriving at 9 am. We all arrived at 9 am ready to go and make up started. However, hair was delayed and I could tell that they were getting stressed with the time. There were some comments made while I was getting ready that didn't sit right with me and I brushed it off at the time. After having a really good vibe during the trial, the wedding day felt off. I was also disappointed neither me nor my bridal party were informed they were leaving before doing touch ups and putting my veil in. I ran back after photos and they were gone :( After the fact, someone from my bridal party mentioned to me how they said they wished they spent more time on me and how they just ran out of time. They're definitely great at what they do and have tons of experience in the bridal industry. I think and hope I had an isolated experience. I shared my grievances with Erika after the wedding and appreciated her response and understanding.

She really took the time to listen to my expectations for hair and makeup and recommended Lisa Hollywood Waves and Ipo for makeup. I also booked a hair and makeup trial (with Lisa & Ipo) to ensure my vision was exactly as I imagined for the big day and to meet the stylists before the wedding too. Erika was very communicative and responsive for 6 months leading up to our wedding. She also helped me feel confident in the decisions we made and mentioned her goal for every wedding and for every bride is to make sure we feel beautiful and enjoy every aspect of getting ready. My experience was just that! Hair & MakeUp Trail & Wedding: Lisa and Ipo are such a wonderful team together. They are both so fun and hilarious, we laughed a lot together during the trial and on the big day. Lisa and Ipo really took their time to ask questions about how I wanted my makeup and hair while also getting to know me. It was such a delight. On the wedding day, Lisa, Ipo and a third hair stylist, Haunani were on time and did such an amazing job bringing my hair and makeup + my bridesmaids hair and makeup dreams come true. Our prayers were answered when we found May. This review is a bit long because it isn't fair to only describe her as amazing, because she is so much more! First off, May is so incredibly talented as a makeup artist. She has artistic vision and works to emphasize your features versus a "copy & paste" makeup style. Secondly, she is also very organized and professional from communicating before the wedding, to the makeup trial, to the day of the wedding making it easy to discuss and confirm with her. To start off, we are 2 brides, so that is double the makeup! My wife and I typically don't wear a lot of makeup so it was difficult for us to voice what we wanted and know what would look good on us. We decided to include a makeup trial which I HIGHLY recommend all brides do. My wife showed May some photos of the makeup look and up-do hairstyles she liked. May was so talented and gave my wife exactly the look she asked for. However, this is why the makeup trial is important because, my wife ended up realizing that she actually want a more natural look because it would make her feel more comfortable and that she actually would prefer her hair down. May was so understanding and had suggestions on how she can create that as she knew exactly what my wife wanted! With May's expertise, my wife felt so comfortable and beautiful with her hair and makeup on our wedding day. As for me, I shared a few images with May and described to her the feel I wanted to evoke with my hair and makeup. I mainly spoke about the facial features that I wished to emphasize and those I wished to minimize and trusted May to create the final vision. She did just that! May gave me the fresh faced look and styled my hair to matched the vision I had but didn't know how to voice entirely. May also went the extra mile for us to make our wedding perfect. On the day of our wedding, I suddenly asked if she could support us on-site at the wedding ceremony and for photos afterwards. This was because we did a small photo shoot on the day of our makeup trial, at the wedding location, the wind was insane and our hair was in our faces for all the photos. The weather also looked to be about the same on our wedding day, so for our wedding, we didn't want the same thing to happen, and I presented May with this last minute request. When I tell you she is kind and caring, I can't emphasize that enough. She told me that she had something already scheduled but she understood why and that she will try. She shifted her personal schedule around asking for her friend to help to take care of her personal errands, to be able to accompanying us to the wedding ceremony and photoshoot afterwards. I almost felt undeserving because this was essentially a stranger we met that week, but she has such a big and kind heart and was so caring that she was willing to go above and beyond to make us look and feel good on our wedding day. During the ceremony she was always watching to make sure both my wife and I looked our best. I really can't express or thank her enough for her talent, time, and kindness. She IS the best makeup artist in Hawaii!

Please keep in mind I booked a second separate company for myself and 2 of my sisters because I wanted to make sure I was 100% confident in my personal artist. The morning of the wedding was very stressful. Manda's team showed up late and did not begin until roughly forty minutes past the scheduled start time. My biggest issue is that hairstylist also told my mom the MORNING of the wedding that she HAD to wear her natural curls because straightening her hair type would not look good cause of the humidity and said there was no time for any other option (like a blow out, probably cause they had started so late), and she told my mom she could blow it out herself if she wanted and she could "maybe add some curls"). This really upset my mother since she is self conscious about her natural hair and wanted to feel her best for the big day. It created a really unsettling start to our morning and my mom was in tears. Thankfully, a stylist from the other company that I had hired for myself stepped in and helped calm things down. She was able to style my mom exactly the way she wanted and it held beautifully through the night and EVEN into the next day. Without her help the situation would have been extremely upsetting. Because of all this I cannot comfortably recommend this vendor, especially for those who have natural curls or want specific styling. Although Manda herself didn't do this, it's evident her team is not equipped to handle a situation like this.
