I'm a fairly frequent visitor to this location on Westheimer, given its proximity to both my home and many other restaurants/bars. The 3 scoop signature is my go-to order, and I typically mix 1-2 of my familiar favorites (shout-out to the gooey butter cake) with a seasonal or limited-time offering (the chocolate blackout cake was particularly delicious on my most recent visit - do you see a pattern?) Do feel empowered to enjoy all the samples you can handle before finalizing your choices, the scoopers will serve you with a smile (as long as the line isn't super long). Once you've paid at the counter, either enjoy the crisp A/C or take your ice cream to the side patio; I personally prefer the sleek, cleanly kept indoors to the sounds of Montrose's eternal traffic, but you do you. This is the 2nd Jeni's location I've tried and it was just as good as the first. There's a small parking lot attached to the shop so if there are no spots available you'll have to try and find some street parking near by. The employees were friendly and had no problem letting patrons sample ass many flavors as they needed. I decided to go with 2 half scoops of each of the limited time offers which was a dark chocolate cake and wedding cake. Both flavors were delicious. I love when ice creams have bits of cake throughout. The wedding cake also had a berry swirl that was very fresh tasting. Idk what it is about that Gooey Butter Cake ice cream, but gosh darn it I'm addicted. Jeni..you have some explaining to do!!! No, but seriously..I'm hooked. Of course I've tried other flavors, but I always come back to this one. When you go there, if you can't decide what flavor you'd like to get, they don't mind letting you try samples. At least it doesn't seem like they do. The employees are nice and all, but don't over do it! The shop is decorated nicely, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy your ice cream. We ate our ice creams at the outdoor seating to enjoy the weather, and there a lot of seats and lighting! They went from 0 to several Houston locations. I do think this is a very popular national chain now which is really moving into the mold of all of the famous chains such as Ben & Jerry's or Cold Stone, Marble Slab too, which all to me are very different. This one is closer to the first one as in it's pretty good. I like the early locations and I love the one in Columbus. But now that it's massively franchised it definitely isn't quite as good. I know it's ice cream but I prefer flavors to be a little more subtle and less sugary-tasting. I'm sure I'm in the minority here anyway. I think my favorite flavor was bay leaf cheesecake since it was actually less sweet. All that being said, their flavors are constantly changing. They also let you sample until you find something you like. One of my favorite things about Jeni's is that they use reusable (metal) sample spoons! Ice cream shops must go through a crazy amount of plastic spoons so kudos to Jeni's for taking the sustainable route. Very friendly service. While their parking lot is small, we were happy that they even have a parking lot because parking in Montrose can be tough.
