    Pepperoni & Meatball Pizza
    Robert W.

** I felt compelled to change my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. We ordered the same items as last time, the pizza was just as good, but the fries were inconsistent. Unfortunately, they were oily and burnt this time.** Jeff's Pizza is dangerously close to our place and we just tried it, which honestly feels like a mistake because we shouldn't have waited this long. I've been searching for the closest thing to New Haven style pizza and I don't think you can get any closer than this. We ordered half pepperoni and half meatball. I loved that the meatball was crumbled instead of chunky and the pepperoni was just crisp enough. The sourdough crust was the real standout, cooked just about perfectly. We also got a side of fries and our immediate reaction was, "These are almost identical to McDonald's fries." So good. Next time we will have to dine in, instead of pick up. The fresh pizza coming out to the tables looked even better.

We easily found street parking at lunch time. You walk in, the counter has menus, the staff are friendly. You pay and seat yourself while they get to work. The pizza was delicious! We opted to share a 1/2 figgin bacon / 1/2 BBQ Grayson and we're so happy with the choice! We even enjoyed glass bottle ginger ale with the pizza. This place is great, the decor is unique, the bathroom clean, I even played the drop claw machine and actually won! We had 3 slices leftover to take home. Will definitely return to try other pizza combos and other menu items.

    Pepperoni pizza well done.

The 1st time we went to Jeff's we were not impressed, I thought the sauce was tasteless. The 2nd time was much better. Last night we ordered a take out pepperoni pizza delivered by Grubhub. We requested well done. The pizza stayed hot and was crisp even though it was in a box. I would order again.

What's in this photo? Sadness, that's what.

Ordered Jeff's after a little hiatus and the picture says it all. I get that pizza can have dough bubbles (pockets? balloons? puffiness?), but my pizza had the MOAB (Mother of all Bubbles) which basically ruined the pepperoni side except for one slice. If you ever want to see visually that sadness looks like, look at my pie. :(

They forgot our wings. They didn't address it but they did. A 22 minute order turned into 35. And then let's talk about this wings. They throw them in a to go pizza big and just dumped the Buffalo sauce on them. No toss. Just dumped. I had a wing with absolutely no sauce on it. The pizza... 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 buff-a-que. The pepperoni is thick but I did like this pizza. The buff had way too much going on. My mouth couldn't identify what flavors were being thrown at me and my mouth went on a journey. The place looks like a shop in NJ. I just think their 6 person tables were a bad idea for such a small space. Overall not a great showing. Pro tip: we took the food across the street to the Myrtle

My favorite New Haven style pizza! The dough is a sourdough made to perfection each time with a little bit of char. It comes out of the wood fired oven super hot! I ordered a pizza with pepperoni, mushroom, and cherry peppers...my favorite combination for my pizza. The crust was fantastic! It is a thin crust pizza that takes most of the credit for this superb pizza! It will crunch a little when you fold it, but won't sag on the end. There is a light layer of sauce topped with bubbling cheese, cupped pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, and jarred cherry peppers. The inside is very clean and comfortable with a few arcade games to play while waiting. The staff are really nice and go above and beyond to make sure everything is just right. In a perfect world, they would move closer to my house so I don't have to cross the bridge during traffic hour. The only change that I could possibly suggest besides moving their business is to cut the stems off of the cherry peppers. I don't know any establishment that cuts the stems off, but I wish they all did it. Overall, this is my favorite pizza and I will be back stems or no stems.

They have their own parking lot! Great slice for dinner. $6 cheese. I also got a draft beer. Over $15 after tax. Kind of pricey! Delicious pizza though. I'll be back.

Hate to give this rating. I wanted this place to be great. I heard so many good things. Start with the good: cool physical space, lots of hockey decor, old school video games, and pinball. The crust on the pizza was great and the ranch dressing was solid. The young lady taking the order over the phone was helpful. The not so good: sauce and cheese were essentially flavorless. We got a half pepperoni and half buff-a-q. The pepperoni lacked flavor throughout, just boring and not worth the hype. The buff-a-q was confusing and over engineered. Way too much going on and nothing tied it together. We ordered wings, when we got there the pizza was done, wings were not. Honestly seems like they forgot, but the didn't want to say it. Just tell us, mistakes happen. I could have had a beer while waiting. Waited another 15 minutes and got our cold pizza and wings. The wings although fried nicely were not very good. The buffalo sauce was pretty bad and the wings were pushed out in a hurry so only half had the bad sauce on them (a blessing in disguise). I may try again if in the area, pretty tough visit for a highly regarded place.

We recently got take out from here for the first time. They told us it would be ready in 15 - 20 min, and they were. The restaurant has a decent size parking lot, so pick up was easy. The pizza itself was very good. They only have one size of pie, which was probably close to 16". The crust was thin and crispy without being crunchy. The sauce and cheese ratio was also good, and the pepperoni topping was generous. I think we're likely to go again!

Been interested in going here since Dave Portnoy came here a couple of years back! Very Friendly front line staff, cute but small interior space. As for the Pizza I would give it an 8.3, The Crispy Crust is the Highlight of the show as I'm sure other people have said. Lets put it this way, I WILL GO BACK! I liked it and I think it's worth a try!

The pizza was good. They don't answer the phone and I was going there for my uncle that is elderly and handicap so he is unable to order on the internet. So how can the community support the local businesses if they are not available for the high elderly community ? If they answered the phone it would be less people hanging around waiting for their food. Too packed to be comfortable.

The ambiance is beautiful and classy, yet still kid-friendly. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and got a seat no problem. Business was steady but a reservation wasn't needed. Our waitress was young and sweet, but I'm guessing new. We had questions about the menu like "what's the difference between the tenders and fingers" that she wasn't able to answer. She did disclose that the menu had just been revamped but gave us the answer of "they are the same thing". That doesn't really makes sense since they are separate menu items but she didn't take the time to follow up with someone who did know. Once we got our drinks I let her know that my soda must have needed changing out because it's tasted like seltzer with very little syrup. I asked for a water as a replacement, which I never got, even after a second request. When I got the bill, the soda charge was still on there. She did remove it after I asked her to. Also, the straw that she brought me looked like the ink from a pen had leaked on it (see pic). Lastly, all the other tables seemed to have a complimentary basket of bread, which we never received. None of these things are huge deals, but someone more experienced would have been a little more "on the ball". Most importantly, the food was delicious and their was a good spread of desserts offered. The macarons we got were only $2 per cookie and came in a variety of flavors. Had the service been a little better, I'd give this a 5 star experience but we really did have a nice lunch and would visit again, for sure.

It came out looking like tomato soup, and the pasta was literally floating in a bowl of sauce so thin that it looked like a tablespoon of tomato soup cut with ten ounces of water. When I tried to cut the veal on top, the pressure caused the watery sauce to overflow the side of the plate. The waitress never came back to the table. I didn't eat the meal, and when I asked another waitress for the check, I told her the meal was unacceptable. The bill came, and I was charged for a meal that was unfit to eat. My wife enjoyed the spinach pie. I paid the bill in full, including a tip. Essentially, I paid $50 for a spinach pie! It was a bad experience, and I cannot recommend this place.

Came here before a concert at XFinity based on Yelp reviews. Provalone's is a very unpretentious little spot with a big menu, great prices and friendly service. Also, surprisingly fresh, quality and tasty food for what you might expect from the outside. Definitely a book that can't be judged by its cover. This is primarily a takeout spot and catering service. While we were sitting and enjoying our dinner they were loading up a large catering order for a customer and several people came and left with good sized orders. Clearly the locals enjoy it here. I went with the chicken parm sandwich. I expected a fried, formerly frozen patty and mediocre sauce Inna roll. What I got (for a very reasonable price) was real chicken breast, clearly hand breaded and fried, with a chunky, fresh, tasty sauce that ended up being a bit watery when put up against the cold provolone in the roll and made everything a bit uncomfortably soggy and messy. This may have been alleviated by baking the sandwich a bit before serving. Sandwiches come in one size here, which is a 12-in grinder. I would have ordered a slice as well, but the pizza in the case seemed to be pretty old and needed a refresh to be appealing. There is a very large menu, including pasta platters that include penne, ravioli or tortellini with meatballs, real veal or chicken. That's unusual for a takeout place with just a couple of tables. But it was among the many very pleasant surprises here. Good food, great prices and friendly service at a nice local spot with great menu variety. If you're nearby, I would definitely recommend giving Provolone's a try.

It's always dissapointing when a restaurant lacks consistency and leaves you wondering what happened? Is it the cook at certain shifts, carelessness, different quality products? I don't know, but this place may be worth a try if they could output the product I had during my first visit. The pizza was dissapointing, but the wings were good. It tasted fresh, very crispy and hit the spot. The wings definitely saved the overall meal which is why I gave them a 3 overall, but the pizza was like a 2.
