He's always so attentive, thorough, and genuinely cares about his patients. He takes the time to explain everything clearly and always follows up to make sure I'm doing okay. As someone currently in nursing school, I really appreciate how supportive he is -- he always makes sure I have everything I need, and it's extra inspiring knowing he used to be a nurse himself! He truly understands what it's like to be on both sides of healthcare. I'm a woman in my 20s, and he always makes me feel comfortable, respected, and cared for, especially during the more stressful or scary moments. You can tell he loves what he does and really wants the best for his patients. Also, shoutout to the front desk girl (I'm so sorry I don't know her name!) -- she's always kind, efficient, and welcoming every time I come in. If you're looking for a doctor who listens, follows through, and genuinely cares, Dr. Rokaw is the one. I can't recommend him enough!

I sought care from Dr. Joshua Rokaw, an endocrinologist, after my dermatologist recommended seeing…read moreone for my Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune condition). I usually rely on my GP for referrals, but this time I searched online and chose him because he was the only provider offering a relatively early in-person appointment. I arrived on time for what I had specifically requested and confirmed as an in-person visit. However, the receptionist (or office manager) greeted me rudely and unpleasantly, insisting it was scheduled as a Zoom appointment. No one called the day before to confirm, despite standard practice. When I handed over my insurance card, she thrust an iPad at me in a hostile manner to sign again, with no courtesy or explanation. Her tone and attitude were so consistently unpleasant that I wondered why someone so unhappy would remain in a patient-facing medical role, there are plenty of opportunities elsewhere in healthcare. Eventually, I was seen by Dr. Rokaw, who appeared to be a rather large, older physician (in practice for over 40 years). I mentioned I'd done some personal research on Hashimoto's to better understand my condition, and he responded dismissively with something like, 'If you already know the answers, why are you here?' His bedside manner felt condescending, abrupt, and uninterested--he seemed to go out of his way to make me feel foolish rather than addressing my concerns helpfully. Overall, the visit was unproductive and left me feeling dismissed. Given his long tenure, advanced age, and what appeared to be a sedentary build suggesting limited personal focus on physical health, it might be time for Dr. Rokaw to consider retirement. He could benefit from stepping away to prioritize exercise, improve his own well-being, and perhaps work on more respectful patient interactions. I strongly advise others--especially those with chronic autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's--to run the other way and seek a more engaged, compassionate provider elsewhere.

He proves that a doctor's visit doesn't need to be hours long to be thorough, thoughtful, detailed, effective, and--most importantly--to make you feel genuinely seen and heard. He is incredibly prompt and respectful of your time, while somehow never making the appointment feel rushed. He's kind, funny, caring, attentive, and has a way of immediately putting your mind at ease. I left feeling completely confident that my health is in very good hands. I'm newly postpartum, and he has been wonderful in helping me navigate the reins of this new chapter and come up with a plan for a truly healthy future so I can be my best self for my baby. He was incredibly thorough, provided me with excellent referrals, and made the entire process so seamless. I was able to have my labs done immediately after my appointment, received the results that same day, and he had already reviewed and addressed them with me. That kind of attentiveness and follow-through is so appreciated and, unfortunately, not something you find everywhere. He even went the extra mile discussing medication options and copays with me, actively trying to find the most affordable choices--definitely not something most PCPs go out of their way to do. Dr. Thomassian is the epitome of a doctor who genuinely loves what he does and truly cares about helping people. My husband and I both agree that we'll proudly and gladly keep him as our PCP until we're old and gray. Sorry, Dr. Thomassian--you're stuck with us for life! Couldn't recommend him more highly. Also, the staff was really great and super welcoming. I felt right at home from the first second I joined the clinic. Thanks for everything!
