He get busy sometimes, has limited space, and you cannot just bring your bike in and expect to get it back the same day (sometimes you can). What he doesn't have in stock he can usually have delivered in 2-3 days and at very competitive prices. So, definitely plan ahead. While I can do all the work on my bikes myself, I trust Mike to do things right on my bike. He has a great eye for detail and catches stuff I sometimes overlook.

I was trying to pick up a couple of Specialized Turbo Kenevo bikes and most everywhere was out-of-stock because of the big sale they were having ($9000 MSRP down to $5800). Eventually did get what I wanted - but could only have them delivered and was shopping around for a great shop to set them up, test ride and go. Well, found the folks at Siskiyou Cyclery. Usually I'm heading further north to Medford, but the plan was to also enjoy Oregon and take a visit to Crater Lake. These folks are conveniently located near middle of Ashland. They're on a main road so you will have an easy time finding them (and turning around if you miss). Parking is nice - there's two spots on the road in front of the shop, parking in the back and next door parking if you have a larger vehicle as well. Inside, it's a bike shop. Nothing fancy. What is nice is that while I was waiting, I saw one mom bring her kids (6?) bike in because of a flat. I saw another guy just wander in needing a derailleur. Very low-key and friendly in terms of "sure, drop it off and come back this afternoon" and no, I didn't feel I was being blown off while they got those folks in and out. When I was picking up the Kenevo's, engaged in light conversation and they knew their stuff. "What is the bottom bracket of the e-bike?" or "what is the largest chain ring I can run?" plus they got into the conversation of what e-bike rules are locally, which varies crazily for USDA and USFS along NP land. Grabbed a bike, after it being set up and went for a quick ride. You can go right out the door, and then right again to head towards Starbucks. You can stay on that same road the shop is on for a long and level ride. You can go straight out and head up some minor inclines (not 10 ring stuff, but middle cog, haha) Paperwork was easy, in and out basically. You're not going to be stuck there while they treat you like a baby explaining how the dropper seat post works, or how to charge up your e-bike - unless you want to be. Overall, because "Oregon" and "Ashland" convenience, this is a great shop to stop by, get repairs or parts, and enjoy the Ashland scenery!

Don's Bike Center is the best bike shop on planet Earth. I've only experienced like six of them in…read moremy lifetime, but regardless Don's is far and away #1. The last bike I bought here was over four years ago, and I loved it. Sadly it was stolen a couple weeks ago, and I assumed that there was nothing I could do about it because I had no idea when I bought it, and I definitely didn't know what card I used to buy it and wasn't even sure if I used the card. So I'm filling out the information for the insurance claim and I thought why not give Don's a call, the bike was the most valuable thing that was stolen from my vehicle so I wanted to try and at least get some reimbursement for it. Shockingly, Eric was able to find my transaction information and send me a receipt directly to my phone via text (within literally 1 minute somehow), so that I could properly note everything for the insurance claim. Eric was unbelievably helpful and very appreciative of my appreciativeness. I am so glad that I called Don's and spoke to Eric. I hate talking on the phone with anyone and it was not only a great conversation because I was able to get the receipt from him but genuinely he just sounded like an amazing person and was extremely kind the whole time. I was late to my reservation because I forgot sneakers and needed to make a quick purchase. They were very accommodating and adjusted my rental time and fee. Tory was such a help. She directed me to the Bear Creek Greenway and made a recommendation for a restaurant along the trail. I biked from Ashland yo Medford and stopped at the Phoenix Plaza Civic Center for an event and got some wings at the Phoodery. Theres a little bath from The greenway to Clyde's restaurant at Blue Herron Park. Easy access. Super fun day! So glad I rented from them. Great service :)
