Was staying in town for a night while passing by back to LA. Had a bunch of bottles that were taking up space in my car. Seems like this is the only place to recycle in the town of Yreka. The local stores/markets doesn't do in-store redemption. Most of the people here are bringing recyclables by the car/truck load. Drive up through the gate and drop off. I only had a few, so I walked in after a truck. They do CRV value and happily did by count, so I got 50 cents back. They give you a ticket and then you go to the red shack to redeem for cash. Workers seems nice and friendly. They do recycle other stuff as well, scrap metal, paper, assorted glass, etc... read more

Since the last review, they decided that they will no longer accept "mixed paper" in the recycling bins. They say they used to get $5/ton for it down south, and now have to pay $10/ton to get rid of it. Sorry their associates raised the prices, but what does that work out to per household, like 50 cents a month? Raise the prices a bit if you have to, instead of degrading the level of service, and accept responsibility for your business -- don't try to blame America's trash disposal problems on China! read more

This review is regarding Yreka Transfer as a Moving Company: I called and received courteous service from a guy named AJ. He quoted me 3 men and a truck for $112 per hour. I thought the price was too high, but with three men, at least the job would be done quickly. Second time I called, woman (name redacted for privacy) was short with me and quoted 2 men and a truck for $140 per hour. No way on Earth! Even if the price had been the same, I was turned off by the second employee's lack of phone manners. I called a mover in Mt. Shasta that was much friendlier and gave him my business. read more

In a world where customer service is becoming extinct/automated, I am happy to say that these guys are so friendly and helpful. A big thank you for doing a great job, (nobody ever thinks of "what if my trash was not picked up?) I used to live in a house with a very steep hill to haul my garbage can up every week, and the driver was so kind to help when it was to heavy to get by myself. Had a man come to do a debris pick up after a moving company moved us. He arrived right on time, was curteous and even showed patience when my son joined him in losing his truck with our boxes. He ended up having to make two trips, but was quick and even welcomed our family to the area. Highly recommended. read more

My experience over the past decade with Yreka Transfer has been good. I've called countless times for unscheduled trash pick up and never any wait. Thought this was a great organization. Called and arranged a move and paid $140.00 per hour for two men and a truck. Have you ever arranged a move in the larger cities?, Fuel costs, 3-4 hour min, and sometimes they don't show. They were right on time, were very courteous, no damage to my belongings, no damage to the residences, and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. The man who comes to Scott Valley is the most rude, demeaning man I have ever experienced!! May 2016, I brought in approx 6 large green contractors waste bags of recycling that my kids had sorted. He began pouring out the items and we found ONE bag that had a few glass bottles mixed with the cans that I help pick out of his wire baskets. He blew up and brushed me off and went to help another customer behind me. He told me he didn't have time to deal with this "mess" and praised the other customer for not having a "mess" like mine!!! ALL of my other LARGE bags were sorted accordingly. At one point one of my bags broke on the bottom and he yelled at me as I was trying to correct the items spilling out!! I had close to $100 worth of recyclables!!! ALL the years I have been bringing recycling to Rays in Ft. Jones, (20+) I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect!! This man was tall, skinny, wore glasses & a ballcap, wore Wrangler jeans. Sorry, I do not have a name. read more
