I've been wanting to get into Archery lately to do some target shooting. I really didn't know too much about it beside some research I did online, so knew I needed some help. I live about 40 minutes from this place, but decided it would be worth the drive to go and check it out. I'm very glad I did. I got there and shortly after entering, Courtney greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I said yes and told her what I was interested in. She asked a couple questions and then proceeded to show me a full line of bows ascending in price. I picked out one of the bows she showed me and she had me try it out. They have a skinny hallway shut off with a target in the back good enough for test firing bows. She gave me some instruction on proper form and how to hold and sight the bow and had me shoot a couple arrows. It was a very cool experience. I decided to buy the bow and she measured me and got the bow tuned up to my measurements and had me try it out again to make sure everything was perfect. Courtney then recommended the required accessories she knew I didn't have yet since I'm new which was very helpful. By the time I left Courtney had taken great care of me and not rushed me to buy anything. At no time did I feel like she was upselling me as she gave me different prices points on stuff I was buying. I'm very glad I went here and had a great visit and as Courtney was helping me tune the bow or cut the arrows, the owner Chip Johnson talked to me and recommended a great local place to get lunch. Have been a traditional archer (recurve) since elementary school, then in Scouts, and later as an adult. Unfortunately, my group of archery buddies split up about 10 years ago, and I hadn't continued with archery after that. I retired a year ago, and wanted to take up the sport again. I knew I needed a new bowstring, new arrows, and a variety of other things. While going to a big sporting goods store or buying things online might be quick and maybe a little less expensive, I had the sense to know I'd be best off going to a place where I'd get personal service, proper custom measurements, and good advice from people who actually specialize in archery. While it was over an hour from my home in Rockville, I went to Jefferson Archery, and Brian did a fantastic job getting me completely back up to speed. He really took his time, measured me expertly for new arrows (and made them on the spot, no waiting!), replaced my bowstring, and sold me a target just right for my backyard. (I also dropped off for consignment sale an old -- but mint condition -- recurve bow for hunting that was just too hard for me to draw back now that I'm in my 60s.) I thought the service at Jefferson Archery was outstanding, knowledgeable, and very courteous. I felt the prices were fair, and the fact that I didn't need to go back to pick up the new arrows saved me 2 hours of travel. I would highly recommend this shop. There's just no substitute for good old-fashioned service from people who know what they're doing. read more

This is a small shop with a limited offering. That being said, I have purchased a bow, hunting blinds, broad heads, quivers, rests, salt licks, arrows, field tips and have had my bow tuned here. The service is good, and the people are friendly. I bought my daughters bow here and they took the time to set it up for her and made the necessary tweaks until it fit her. We need to keep the small, specialty shops in business. read more

Avoid this place. Sold improper equipment to a Junior Olympic Archer. They knew that the arrows were for competition. Turns out they specified the wrong size arrows and they are not allowed in competition. The store would not accept them back or replace them with the right size. They acknowledge their mistake but said "Oh well, no returns!". Unacceptable business practice. Go somewhere else. Take the trip to Lancaster. Very sad a business would operate like this. read more

Hands down, Jefferson Archery is the best archery shop that I have ever been too. The main reason I absolutely love Jefferson Archery is simple. The shop possesses a friendly atmosphere, and the employees truly strive to help the customers. Personally, I love that the employees are not condescending. Like most customers, I am an amateur archer; I am fairly experienced, but I do not know everything. The shop's employees are informative, polite, and never talk down to me. My first trip to Jefferson Archery, I bought six arrows and looked into purchasing a new bow. An employee glued inserts into the shafts and then screwed in the field points. Next, an extremely nice young employee gave me the low down on the two bows I was interested in. The time came for the shop to close, but the young employee stayed late as I tried out both bows. I was amazed with the young man's patience as I shot both bows several times to see which bow I preferred. I am sure the young man had better plans on a Saturday night, and his patience demonstrated great character. On my second trip to Jefferson Archery, my bow was in need of a simple repair. The peep sight was twisted at full draw, and I could not see through the sight. When I walked in the door, the young employee I mentioned above remembered me, which truly made me feel like a valued customer. He carefully worked on the bow while explaining his actions to me. He then tested the bow out in the small indoor range. After a few modifications, he let me shoot the bow to ensure I was pleased with his work. I was pleased with his work, so I asked him how much I owed him for the repair. He smiled and told me that I did not owe him anything because the repair was quick and simple. From my experience with subpar archery shops, a free repair is a rare occurrence. The bottom line is that JEFFERSON ARCHERY IS GREAT and WELL DESERVING OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. read more
