I've never had a root canal before, my general dentist recommended Dr. Berlin. It was out of my insurance network so the upfront cost was Hefty. I ended up not getting it done there and going somewhere else where they completely bled my bank account dry and still did not get the procedure done correctly. A root canal is never fun. Dr. Berlin and his entire team are amazing. I am not the best patient because I have a massive gag reflex related to x-rays. Dr. Berlin numbed me up enough so I could truly have x-rays taken (true to a root canal) during the process. During the entire root canal (an hour or so), he was focused and always asked to make certain I was okay. Brisna, at the front desk, is amazing. Not sure how I can give five stars for a root canal, but I am. Prior to Dr. Berlin, I had two root canals. They were both fine, but I was always extremely sore and tender for a week. At least. First, Dr. Berlin was friendly and welcoming. I felt very confident in his diagnosis (also a concern I'd had with others). The work was quick and smooth and he talked me through it the whole way. I was seriously done well before I thought I'd be. The best part was that he explained about taking Advil three times/day for two to three days. I was able to eat normally in the second day with no pain. If/when I need another root canal, I'm coming here. read more

I was referred to Dr.Berlin's office by my dentist Dr. Lebovicz, they were able to get me in with him the next day for a root canal procedure. When I arrived the office was clean and I was attended to right away. Dr. Berlin was welcoming as well as his staff. We started on my root canal within minutes of my arrival. He made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the procedure. I tend to need more lidocaine than the dentists anticipate so they usually keep numbing me until half my face is numb and droopy and I can still feel what they are doing. This did not happen with Dr. Berlin. When I let him know I was still feeling pain, he found the exact point where I was feeling the pain and I did not feel any more pain after. The numb sensation stayed in my gums and my lips without leaking into the rest of my face. The procedure was about an hour long and at one point I was nodding in and out of sleep. I have to say this was one of the best dentist experiences I have ever had in my life. This procedure was as easy as having a teeth cleaning and even during that I usually get uncomfortable, irritated, and antsy. His staff gave me 600 mg of ibuprofen after my procedure and aftercare instructions. It was said I may need otc pain medications for up to 3 days. Dr. Berlin called me that night to make sure I was doing okay and I let him know I felt great and I didn't need to take anything at all the rest of the day. My manager was even surprised I showed up to work the next day! read more

This is the same issue that multiple people have written about. The dental work was fine. When I went to the appointment they asked for me to pay an "estimate" (I have never been asked this before) before I was seen by the dentist. I paid over $700. I got my EOB from my insurance company and I should have only paid around $300. I called to ask why and they used the word "estimate" again. The work I had done was very straightforward and the amount should have been clear - I have asked people in other dental offices about this. They said as soon as they received the EOB I would be refunded. I called a week later and they said the EOBs were only opened on Wednesday and Fridays. I'm sure since I have called and emailed I will be refunded but I can't help but wonder what happens to patients who don't look at their EOBs. They spoke to me as if I was the only one to be annoyed by this and then I come here and see they have done it for years. Reporting to my insurance company now. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot speak to the doctors work as before I even went into the appointment both the front desk and the administrator admin, Lynn both had complete attitudes towards me asking about the insurance code which should of been explained and given in the first place. They were both rude and not helpful all because I needed an insurance code and help finding out that information for my consultation. I am not sure why the front desk assistants are pretending to be the gate keepers to the doctor, but trust me you do not want people like this handling your private information and paperwork and I hope that he knows he is losing patients due to incompetent workers that are supposed to help patients get appointments, not lose them. read more

AMAZING!!!! Today was the first time I've ever had a root canal. After the numbing - I just sat there and he did all the work. I should say first, I called his office at the recommendation of my periodontist who thought I might be needing a root canal. Turned out I needed two root canals. I had been running around all last week and the week before, made an appointment and then cancelled it, I knew I had to call back and get in there. My main reason for going was Lynne (sp?). I had to meet her. When I initially called there was a problem, like so many of us, not having the money up front to get the procedure done. She said to come in anyway and just have a consultation and see if you do in fact need the root canal. That would be better than just not coming in and not knowing. The way she put it almost sounded like she was urging me to come in and take care of myself. So, I went in yesterday for the consultation. As stated above, I needed 2 root canals and Dr. Berlin scheduled me for today at 8:00 a.m. He said he would try to get both done or that I would have to come back another day to get the other one done. I was fine with that. So, I sat back and let him do his magick. when I was through I went to the reception area to get my prescriptions and to pay and he came out and said he had done both of them and that I didn't have to come back. OMG!!! It felt like I sat there for just over 1 hour and Dr. Berlin had completed both of them. HE IS AWESOME!!!! I highly recommend going to this endodontist. It may be costly - one root canal cost me $1,700 but, it takes a lot of work to do a root canal. So, it is well worth the money spent and spent on this doctor. The numbing is not that nasty numbing that you start to feel tingly and creepy crawly on your skin. It wears off nicely too. I even felt badly that I wasn't coming to see him again for the second root canal. His manner and care is very comforting. Dr. Berlin is AWESOME!!! My regular dentist referred me to him because he specializes in root canals and has all the latest equipment, including a microscope to perform the procedure. Dr. Berlin is super charming, kind, sensitive (and very cute too). During the root canal he explained everything he was doing and made sure I was in no pain or discomfort. He was done in about 45 minutes. This was the comfortable and the most painless root canal I've ever had or anyone can ever have. His staff are also very kind and sweet and professional. I needed an emergency root canal, and I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Berlin got me in on the same day I called and did efficient and excellent work. He even called me at home that evening to check on my status. This is where my own dentist went when she needed a root canal, which is a pretty high recommendation. He's a super professional and capable endodontist, with a good bedside manner. His staff both in the front of the office and assisting him during procedures are also outstanding. This man is MAGIC!! as are the Magician's assistants, Lyn and Brisna. Let me start by saying that the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz is like Rambo compared to me. Ask any Doctor who's had the, "distinct pleasure", of telling me something NEEDS to be done that requires a needle and in this particular case, a drill. It was with great anguish that my poor sweet Dentist told me I needed a root canal on my bottom molar but he had a, "great guy", to do it and he'd explain my mishugas w the needles etc. (insert crying , shaking, hyperventilating, etc). I showed up for my consult and after a series of x-rays with Brisna it was time to meet the guy who's going to torture me like in "Marathon Man". Dr. Berlin came in and introduced himself. His relaxed warm demeanor and great sense of humor made me feel (not so awful) about having to do this and confident in his abilities. He was "warned" by my Dentist that I'm a handful and that my lower jaw has problems getting "numb". Dr. Berlin assured me that he's got "tricks" so not to worry. D-day came a week later and I was very well "medicated" an hour and half prior but didn't feel like it was working so out came the "gas" and it all kicked in. He actually tells you each step before he does it like, "topical gel" and "this tiny shot will hurt for a second but that's it". It took a lot to numb my jaw but all I felt was the first small shot and from there it was smooth sailing! Nothing hurt during, nothing hurt after, no bruising, swelling NOTHING!!! I didn't need to take the prescribed pain pills or even an aspirin just the antibiotics. Oh, he also calls the next day to see how you're feeling. Who does that?? If you're reading this, likely you're in need of an Endodontist and for that I'm truly sorry BUT there's no need to look any further, Dr. Berlin's totally got you!! He's one of the nicest coolest guys you'll ever meet. I hope I'll never need another root canal but if I do, I'll be really happy to see him and the girls, again. After receiving x-rays and a consultation it was clear I needed a root canal and antibiotics like yesterday. Several years ago I went to Dr. Andrew Frank's office; however, he had sold the practice to Justin Cohen who referred me to Dr. Berlin for 2 root canals in the front of my lower jaw. Dr. Cohen put implants on top of the root canals. Now, I have had to pull the one implant because it was badly infected around both implants. One implant had to be removed and the second one is too large and pushed a healthy tooth out of line. I am in the process of trying to redo the damage done by Dr. Berlin's root canals and the implants by Dr. Cohen. I had spent about $40,000 then, and now I've had estimates of $22,000 to fix my teeth!
