On my way back home, I stopped for breakfast at Jean's Place, which is located on Route 67 just east of Route 22 in North Hoosick. The atmosphere inside is that of a very cozy mom & pop diner with stool seating at the long counter and table seating along the walls and front windows. Jean's Place is serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner (Wed-Sat). The menu offerings include the traditional breakfast dishes (served anytime-eggs, 3 egg omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, etc.), sandwiches, wraps, burgers, hot dogs, soups, chili, salads, comfort dinners (meatloaf, liver & onions, steak, chicken, ham steak & more), and seafood (scallops, haddock, clam strips, shrimp, fish frys). The prices are pretty reasonable (most items under $10) and coffee is 65 cents. I arrived here around 10:15AM on Monday morning and the place was really busy, parking lot almost full. All the stools at the counter were occupied by the local seniors. I sat myself at an open table nearby. Sorel's Diner up the road is closed on Mondays and that probably explains why Jean's Place was so busy on Monday. My waitress came over to my table within seconds and took my drink order. The hot coffee ($0.65) was just right. I took a few moments to decide what I wanted. I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes (3) with Sausage ($5.95) and a side of Home Fries with Onions ($1.95). The food came out quickly. The food was very good tasting. The pancakes were soft and very moist inside, topped with sugar strawberries and lots of whipped cream. The 2 grilled sausage links were very thick and juicy. The home fries with onions were grilled golden brown, but were very greasy. The portion of food was generous and I could not finish my breakfast (I got a to go box). Overall, Jean's Place was a good stop for a hearty breakfast. The service was good and prompt, though the waitress did not speak much since the place was hopping. I was also offered more coffee during breakfast, which I definitely needed for my drive across 3 states. CASH or CHECKS ONLY HOURS: Mon-Tues: 4:30AM-2PM; Wed-Sat: 4:30AM-8PM; Sun: 4:30AM-12PM

We had such a great time! The food was really good. I had the strawberries and creme Waffel. My husband had the chili cheese cheese burger so yummy. The staff members were so kind. They took the time to play with my son and show him around the restaurant. This is a family restaurant and the people that work there are really sweet. We will definitely be visiting Jean's again when we come back into town.

So hungry I forgot to take the pics first!

It was a very spacious restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio that had sweeping views of the greater Bennington area. However, we ate indoors... just too humid during the summer. They serve a nice, warm loaf of bread with maple butter, which was quite good. They have a nice salad bar, nothing standout, but decent enough that came with each entree, but they had just run out of Ranch dressing before I prepared my salad, so that was a bummer. Not their fault. However, the turkey dinner I ordered was not at all to my liking, and that was their fault. The turkey was too salty, and the gravy was waaaaay too salty. The mashed potatoes had no flavor, AND they were extremely dry. I couldn't even eat the stuffing because it was smothered in the overly salty gravy. The only thing I ate was the cranberry sauce, and that tasted great. I didn't want to engage in a conversation with the waitress about my dinner, so I just told her I was full from the salad bar and bread, which was truthful anyway, but I would've eaten more of my entree had I liked it. My husband was totally fine with his eggplant rollatini. I didn't taste it. I know they have other menu items, but I doubt we'd make our way back here, sorry to say. It was just average to me. The bread and maple butter were a nice feature but not enough to bring us back.

Ok first I love old roadside Americana when traveling. The Blue Benn was a pleasant find for lunch…read more The locals obviously live it as it was full and folks waiting outside for a seat as it is a true diner with little room for anyone not seated at the counter or the tables. The waitstaff was pleasant and helpful with my wife's allergy needs and the menu had something for everyone. My pastrami sandwich wasnt great as it was rather chewy but thats a risk anywhere i've ordered it. I just wasnt in a burger or turkey club mood. Fries were excellent hand cut hot and crisp! Lots of pie choices and it all looked scrumptious but we opted to drive off for a Maple creemee nearby. Yep i would stop here again. And get the pie!

We lucked out when we arrived and snagged the last open booth. Service was quick, with our drinks and food arriving fast, and I loved seeing a selection of hot sauces right on the table. Not pictured is the cinnamon roll we split because it was too good to wait for a photo. The Texas burrito and chili got rave reviews from my dining partner, and my omelette was solid, though interestingly assembled. The fillings were layered rather than chopped and mixed throughout. Once I cut it all together, the flavor came through nicely, and the home fries were great. We'll definitely be back, and I'm already eyeing a few other dishes to try next time.
