Of course Ptown at 7pm on a Saturday is going to be hella poppin. We were able to luckily nab four remaining seats at the bar and were able to skip the 45 min wait. Since this place like many others in ptown are small, it's going to be cramped. But anyhow we waited a few and put in drink orders for great mixed drinks and $25 will get you a 2 liter das boot! Ordered various ocean goodies like scallops, lobster roll, mixed lobster pot etc. came out fairly timely for the amount of customers inside. The food was so-so and I ordered a Cosmo that didn't taste great. The service wasn't very attentive but the atmosphere was nice and they had clear separating walls up between tables for COVID which was nice. Wouldn't say I'd be jumping to go back there. Four stars for Cape Cod beer! Yes, they have it on tap and the Summer Ale is the best! And at a decent price too ($6). But there are several other beers on tap, just look at the large menu board. We stopped by here just for beer, and enjoyed sitting facing the railing so we could see the people on the street below. The service is ok, good enough to keep us happy. We were greeted, seated and orders taken in due time. We were there long enough for happy hour to begin, so we also ordered some shrimp and oysters from the Happy Hour menu. It was pretty good. This place is not what it used to be....staff changes constantly, food is very inconsistent. Have visited on several ocassions in the past and the food was good, my last visit this past August proved to be " 2 stars". The waitress was terrible, the food not good at all, how can you ruin pizza, it was overcooked on one side while the otherside was raw. New England clam chowder was like water, I should have asked for straw.....Will not be returning anytime soon. And it's not cheap for what it is. read more

My companion got the chicken fingers. We shared a cup of chowder which was very good. One thing I am absolutely loving is that they have a 1 L mug of beer as a draft option. The beer was actually very reasonably priced. The service was better than average, even though we came towards what appeared to be the end of dinner service and the beginning of transforming the space into a discotheque. We did not stick around for dancing, although it seems like they transformed the place into a fun place for young folks to go. Great happy hour prices! The place was packed during Memorial Day weekend and it took a while to flag down the hostess but we waited patiently and eventually got seats. The HH oysters are shuckers choice (we got Freeland Creeks), but you can choose your clams. We tried both and I liked the littlenecks better than the topnecks. Crab legs were a bit of a hassle so I would probably skip next time. I have had better seafood and accompanying sauces before, but you can't beat the HH prices. It was annoying that they were out of certain drinks because it was so busy, but since it was the first weekend of the season maybe they were still figuring out how much to order. We were lured in by the happy hour and didn't feel adventurous enough to try the sushi or pizza. The sushi display downstairs did not look great, but people were ordering and the actual rolls served looked decent. She began to argue with me and said that was her section, and she was there. Her section or not, the customer is always right, and for her to confront me was unprofessional. I come here often with my good friend for a drink while walking down Commercial street. The drinks are good at reasonable prices.. as some locations in town have marked up the alcohol so high, it's a bit unreasonable. In fact, its the only place in town I've enjoyed a strawberry daiquiri! JD's is attached to Saki - so you have the option of having sushi along with many of their other entrees. At night, the guests are allowed to smoke out on the deck. Granted, there are 8 pieces and the rolls are about 50% bigger than regular sushi rolls, but that just makes them harder to eat. For that price, I was expecting something very tasty, but it was very average. My fiancé's shrimp scampi at $29 was also very average. It's a fun outdoor patio to spend time at, and my fam enjoyed catching some of the Olympics on TV, but our food was terrible for the money spent. My son ordered a cheeseburger and he didn't finish. When I asked him if he liked it, he said it tasted funny. My older son then tasted it and said it didn't taste right, it was if the cheese had gone bad/ moldy. My younger son then told me had a stomach ache. I politely told our waiter that my kids could not eat the cheeseburger as the cheese was bad, and they still put it on our bill. Very poor service and experience at JD's ordering our drinks. When I approved the bar to order, the only question I was asked was "Where is your ID?" I ordered a frozen daiquiri and it tasted like nothing. Not taste of rum or strawberry flavor at all. The waitress was very rude, and after ordering my single drink, I chose not to tip because the treatment she provided was so unsatisfactory. She proceeded to come to my table and ask my why I had not tipped and if the service was okay. After expressing that the service was lackluster at most, she pressed us again about why I had not tipped. Mind you, I had ordered 1 drink and nothing else at this point. I have worked in restaurants for many years and pride myself on being a good tipper, but when someone provides particularly bad service I won't shy away from leaving no tip to signal the experience I had. The waitress made my friend, who did not order anything, so uncomfortable that she tipped her to get her to leave us alone. I will not be returning here because of what happened tonight, which is a shame for the because I am frequently in Ptown and am always looking for the best places to have dinner and drinks. Somewhere out of sight of land in Massachusetts Bay, the craving struck me: I want pizza for dinner tonight. We had just left the marina in Cataumet, where the only job in town restaurantwise was mediocre at best, and we knew that Provincetown would definitely hold a greater wealth of selection. iPhone Yelp recommended Spiritus, but the line there was daunting, and we really wanted to have a sit-down dinner. So, we turned around and checked out John Dough. The outdoor seating was nice enough, and we were given a table and some beers pretty quickly. They were out of Narragansett, which sucked because it was the only thing under $4. But whatever. It's vacation, and vacation's not cheap. They definitely pour you a BIG glass of beer, too. The pizza selection's good, and there was a good range of ingredient combos, from your standard pepperoni to more exotic fare. I grabbed the "Mediterraneo": goat cheese, olives, red peppers, oregano, and mozzarella. It was great, and they had no trouble substituting Greek olives for the standard black ones (I love all olives, but the Greek ones were way more flavorful.) The price is a little bit high, but not terribly so. Pizzas are about 10" in diameter, so if you're really hungry, you can kill it in one sitting yourself. The crust is a little bland: it's almost like cracker, but it was cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven. The temperature and consistency were both perfect. I haven't cruised all of the pizza establishments in Provincetown, but John Dough is definitely not a let-down. read more
