banana with wooden middle. Not edible.

I have been waiting for this grocery store for a while. It has been a major let down. Everything is more expensive than HEB. The selection is limited to large chain products (salsa, cleaning products). The bananas i bought have a wood like substance in the middle. Not edible. I bought some potatoes yesterday. They have that horrible bad Potatoe taste. Not edible. The security staff is really rude. The cashiers are ok. Don't shop here, I am having to throw produce away from this store, that i paying a higher price than HEB.

Beef fajita burrito
Richard A.

Driving into JD's, my mouth began to water as I noticed the prominent Tacos sign on the building since the ol' belly was feeling a bit neglected. As I approached the counter, I was greeted affectionately by this very charming young lady who prepared one of the biggest and best beef fajita burritos I've had in ages, perhaps she couldn't resist my charms especially after putting on my best Spanish to order. For some reason she believed I was Columbian. Anyway, the burrito was packed with awesome goodness and indeed I shall return.

Ripped gas hose!
Courtney H.

Gas hose was torn and leaked gas all over my husband's foot and pants. He went in to tell the cashier and she said she already knew it was torn. How about putting out a sign? How about shutting it off so as not to possibly kill someone or blow up the place?

Great store but the staff here don't know what they are doing half the time. The people in the restaurant are incredibly slow. You'll be forced to wait 30 to 45 minutes for a burger. The cooks are also pretty rude. Only 1 cashier actually knows how to use the Plenti rewards function on the cash register. This store has great potential but this staff will drive you guys into the ass mud.

the location of a mobil gas station

I must preface that my review may be a bit biased, mainly because I live right down the street, within walking distance of this place. But I gotta say, I love having JD's here as it incredibly convenient. They have almost EVERYTHING & that saves me many trips to H-E-B. Staff is always knowledgeable and helpful and I know for a fact they work LONG hours...putting in the work. Love that I can get donuts and dulce bread and the tacos are surprisingly really good. Love the long hours, fresh produce, and great beer & wine selection as well.

Air Pump is $5 for less than a minute of air and the machine doesn't list the price. Didn't even fill up one of my mostly full tires.

Good simple tacos and Mexican pastries on the airport run. Inside a gas station but they have a few tables.

WTF...WHAT THE FUN!!! What grocery store's run out of ice. Well, I'll tell you. Two major…read moregrocery store chains and a retailer grocery in downtown Austin had no ice. How is this even possible? Could it be because we were in downtown Austin? One of my friends speculated that it was because they had a University of Texas game yesterday and they needed ice for tailgate parties. Really!? Seriously?' There is no empirical evidence supporting this assertion. If that was case, why could they not know the schedule. Well, I ended up buying ice at a higher price from a gasoline station...don't remember the name. Am I raging about the difficulty of finding ice? Nope! In retrospect, it is rather humorous that so many places were out of ice simultaneously. If all of the ice went to fun pursuits, I'm good with the icecapades (case of the missing ice). Lesson learned: Buy ice in my neighborhood before heading downtown Austin.

Apparently, not realizing this page already existed. Anyway, covering all my bases and doing a review here as well. Note: I've also suggested an edit for the duplicate businesses. Ok now that is out of the way. Review time: I really love this location so much. The store is huge with wide aisles making it easy to navigate compared to the smaller stores. Even if it's crazy busy on a Sunday afternoon you can still get to the items you need with ease. The store is still very clean and of course modern since the rebuild. Employees are friendly. The shelves are stocked fully 99.999% of the time. I live extremely close to the East 7th Street store (5 min away) and opt for this location time and time again.

Contrary to another review, they usually have fresh fruit on hand; bananas in a basket and prepared fruit cups. They have a fair selection of beer, wine, soft drinks and coffees. They have sandwiches and other prepared food (e.g. giant $4 burritos) in the cooler. One time I had to ask for toilet paper and the guy brought it out from the back room. I suppose it took up too much space on the shelf. This is the alternative to Royal Blue, which has even higher prices, although Royal Blue makes some food in-house. On the whole, I prefer Second Street because Royal Blue has a weird vibe and some weird brands and this place is a regular store.

Honestly unremarkable. An independent convenience store that knows it can charge more because of where it is. The staff were friendly enough, but the stock was kind of limited. That might be due to so many people being in town that week but they seemed to run out of drinks fairly quickly. It's also no fault of the store but it's worth mentioning right in front of their doors seems to be a popular hangout for Austin's homeless. I don't think we managed a single visit here without being asked for change. If you need a quick snack they are in a great location, just don't expect an overly pleasant visit.

I picked up a tea and a muffin, both of which were absolutely delicious. One of my favorite parts of the experience was sitting outside at one of the iconic blue tables and enjoying breakfast while taking in the atmosphere. While some items can be a bit pricey, the quality of the products, the cleanliness of the store, and the excellent customer service make it well worth the cost. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in Austin.

I enjoyed my burger and surprisingly well seasoned tater tots! The wait wasn't too long and the employee was nice. It is also in a pretty advantageous spot downtown where parking wasn't too much of a hassle and it wasn't too congested with cars when I went. There was a plethora of seating, mostly outdoors, which I also appreciated. Unfortunately the hours that this burger spot is open are limited so I probably won't be able to visit as often as I'd like but I could see myself coming back if I happened to be in that window of time.

There was even a hint of gooieness that you want from a cinnamon roll. For a dollar and some change it's a great size! As I noticed other people gathering around the hot food line, I couldn't help but decide on getting a plate. I picked up the ranchero bisteak and chicken Tinga and for my two sides, I decided on the plantains and nopales. Both of the meats I decided on were extremely delicious in flavor and the beef was exceptionally tender. I got red and green salsa and it appears that the red salsa is a tad bit creamy, which is not something I've had many times before. It was unique and extremely tasty. As for the green salsa, I have yet to try, but I am sure it won't disappoint. I do want to give this place praise because I have passed it up before, but it is not a place to be looked over. There's so many other goodies in here that you won't find at a regular grocery store so it's definitely worth coming inside and checking out especially if you just want something to do. The people were so nice exceptional customer service. There is seating if you want to eat inside and they were playing good music. I almost forgot to mention how exceptional the sides were. Often times people mess up nopales, but these were delicious.
