This is another store ive been to in Wheaton, Maryland . This is JC PENNY . ITS INSIDE THE Wheaton Mall at one end if the shopping mall area . It's mostly 3 to 4 levels high . 1 area is for baby's kids tortlers alike department, Men's women's department and kitchen and home good another floor ither is sportswear and school clothing goods . They have huge jewelry department as well . I used to come there fir mens clothing like pants shirts, Good clothes for business and church . Plus new belts too . I love stretchable spandex type pants that are flexible love the different shirts there even sports ones. Plus a few times me and my family had to get kitchen appliances there such as toasters , Pots and pans oven dish plates and oven mits . But the only thing that bothers me is that They make their jib applications more difficult than it has to be these days I dint like . I wish they make them.sime for people like me to eaily apply for the jobs there . I love customer service and sales floor help to better to arrive the community and customers that shop there . I love cashierand customer relations to learn off each other and to better ourselves than we were before the pandemic struck. It was our Americans faults what happened in the pandemic fir our inexcusable unreasonable and unlawful behaviors tgat wec hedx to rebuild trust again without ourselves the management's the teams and communities. I've had some god experiences but nit to the full effect of being a patron there yet . This was my first return in so many teas there . I think irs been at least 5 years or more. I hope tobreturn there agajn soon to sjop or habe a job there someday if they let me . If you love this store as i do , This place is fir you . First off I took my now 9year old son here when he was 3 months old and it was literally a DAY & NIGHT experience. However, that was 9 years ago ...his pictures came out GREAT I still have them framed till this day. The photoshoot was never timed or rushed we got to do several outfit changes and props. This is why I was so disappointed with my recent experience. They were very diligent in confirming my appointment. I had told them how I wanted the shoot to go ahead of time and was really excited at first. The day of the shoot-I thought I would be running late due to traffic so I called to say I maybe running late. They immediately suggested rescheduling. I let them know that my eta was still before my exact appointment time and that I didn't live close so I really would prefer not to reschedule -they said they would check with the manager to see if I could still be seen. That was not an issue for me but they let me know for the first time my time slot was only 15minutes. Like who has a photoshoot for a 3month old for only 15minutes. So I arrived there exactly on time. Literally like 5min early. But I was greeted with an awful smell! Someone did pet photos And it smelt like straight DOG SHIT! Awful smell I felt like someone should have lit a candle or something. The space is fairly small so it made it worse. Anyways the gentleman I spoke to when I walked in was very nice but it seemed a bit chaotic. Mind you this is holiday season so I was expecting them to be busy. However, atp I am filling out paperwork that I already spoke with someone over the phone about I.e background theme etc. I am noticing I am waiting for the people before me to finish up. So I change my baby clothes to his outfit and they were ready for me. Wrong theme , ( I had said no Christmas themes because I don't celebrate) wrong background, ( I said white) they had grey No 3 month old sign they said they would have -and they are rushing me telling me to pretty much hurry up. I brought all my props confirmed my theme before the appointment (twice) they made me fill out paperwork when I came in: they still anit have the right backdrop or let me decorate they kept saying I had to hurry up and that they didn't have enough time for anymore photos because of other appointments. My baby boy was NOT happy at all gave me no smiles ( not their fault) but they got the nerve to be charging $300 for packages. If you offer baby or newborn photos you should understand how babies are and give more grace so that the photos come out better. It was horrible being rushed since they wanted to overbook appts. The photographer seemed like he was trying his best to help but you could tell he was def under a lot of stress. The manager was constantly telling him to hurry up. She was never unpleasant and always professional she also tried to help me but it just wasn't anything like I expected and wanted I just didn't like the experience in general nothing against the staff themselves just the lack of preparation and the rushing. Lastly I had a Groupon that they just could not get to work. The person helping me was brand new so he also didn't know a lot and was learning. He was super nice and friendly - but after 45min she finally put in her manager override and applied the discount. After the 4th attempt it would have been nice if she did it earlier- it was super packed and I had a newborn and was trying to just leave. Unfortunately, I paid a little over $150 for my package and the actual photos did not come out as nice. I'm not sure the quality looked a bit fuzzy and of course cause I got 0 smiles from my LO. I was better off using my cell phone and that is exactly what I did for my son's 3 month old pictures. I went home and used my ring light a back drop I created and took my own photos that came out way better so I used those to post and share with family. read more

- PORTRAIT CENTER REVIEW ONLY - My friends and I had the best time getting those akward JCPENNEY pictures taken. Our photographer, Susan C was so friggin awesome, made sure we looked great and even helped us get some great photos with a 2 year old! We were late (and if you're late they will make you reschedule - which I was told during my confirmation call) but fortunately a group who was there earlier allowed us to swap spots (so it worked). When we were at a loss for poses, she guided us to truly make the experience memorable. Susan - 10 out 10. There should not have been no reason I had to wait over two hours for an appt especially after being asked several times before to arrive early. This ruined my son's birthday pictures! I planned my morning accordingly for him to be well rested and energized for picture unfortunately that was not the case. I had to wake him up from what should have been his nap time and we barely got 2 somewhat decent photos. I wish someone from the studio would have gave courtesy calls the same way they ensure to ask you to be early to let you know they are running late. I could clearly see upon arrival they had at least 3 people waiting however I was told the wait would be 20 mins. (Clearly was NOT) I had a whole day planned out instead it was wasted waiting in a basement for photos. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reschedule giving it was my only free weekend for another month. I really wish JCPenney do better with the booking system in the near future, or even offer something for such inconvenience. I HATE the way I had to settle for photos. Arrived 5 minutes late, the employee who claimed to be a photo center manager arrived one hour and 10 minutes later after her break. She asked us to leave because we were 5 minutes late. She was so unprofessional and kept referring me to read the "late policy". I have used this place for many years before and there we're always nice photographers except this time. I am writing this so hopefully management can see how their employees and poor judgment on hiring can impact peoples beautiful day. So unreal, so heartbreaking we couldn't take professional pictures for my daughter second birthday. Btw, I tried to call while I was running late and no answer. However she didn't take time to call me like always in the past they did. Her excuse was that another family is scheduled for 5:00 but no one was there by 5:15. ***Portrait Studio Review*** Five stars - I'd give 10 if I could. Desperately needed a 'real' (i.e. - not a selfie) business headshot, and saw a great deal on Groupon for a three-shot digital/one standard print album, and booked away. I came in on a Friday afternoon (lunch time - 1PM) and enjoyed an empty studio session (because the families of 5, 6, 7, and 11 usually come on the weekends). The photographer cracked a few jokes and made me feel at ease :) What was even better, was that his work blew me away! He was super quick (I did an outfit change) and did an amazing job. The photos made me look like a CEO (hehe) and like not like the fresh outta college kid I looked like in my old LinkedIn photo. *** Review of Store Improvements and Internet Desk*** This store has made a lot of improvements in how it presents visually. I was last in it probably 5-6 years ago. Loyal JCP customer of 30 years. The intimates have been moved up from the basement (yay), all sales floors looked neat, clean, and organized, and all clearance items were either hung decently on racks or folded on sets of shelves. Lighting is better, too. Way to go! Cons: (1) The one dressing room for females in the store (2nd floor, Liz Claiborne) was neat in its lobby and the rooms. That's progress. However, 1 star off for a mature male being in the DRooms' hallway and then one of the DRs with a couple of females, maybe wife and daughter? It made me uncomfortable. No men should be in the rooms or hallways! Please post signs at both ends of this DR hallway: admittance is for WOMEN ONLY, have cameras, and patrol. Also, a male in late teens was sleeping on the one chair in the DR lobby. Put some more chairs in there (men can wait there), patrol, and remove anyone sleeping or clearly not doing business. It looks crummy! Good selection of classic but pretty/cute types of styles for adult women, in natural fabrics, are included and a good selection of petites (also online). One star off (I considered two) for your nasty longtimer in the Internet Dept. on Floor 4. Rude. If you come to this store be ready to bring complete paperwork on every Internet item you are returning (even an item JCP sells but is shipped by another vendor) or pull all the order deets up on your phone. My receipt in the shipping bag from the vendor was no good to her. I was treated rudely and dismissively, loudly, while I was 100% polite. I'll never go back. JCP, please train your managers and staff, JCP, on how to treat customers (of ALL demographics) well and what Corporate expects. Many staff here seem to act cold and not care. Try blind shopping. Customers have LOTS of choices of other places to shop. I'd rather drive 45 mins. to a smaller JCP (nicer staff), but I applaud that you have been making changes. read more

The mall is always crazy busy, and it's quite difficult to get in and out of the parking lots because of so many people walking and driving, even during a weekday afternoon, though JCPenney isn't to blame for it. There has been recent waves of crime near and around the store, so safety is a concern, though again JCP has nothing to do with that. It's just a developing neighborhood and a densely populated area. The store itself is clean, well organized, and adequately staffed. The signs for the online order pickup, however, miscommunicate that the pickup location is on the ground floor but in fact is on the 4th floor. I only learned this after being lost and asking a team member. There is an elevator, thankfully! The team member at the JCP.com desk, Samantha, was extremely friendly, patient, courteous, and personable. She was eager to help and was efficient and effective. She acknowledged the other guests waiting in line and assured them that she'd assist momentarily. The interaction was really pleasant, and I wish more associates were as enthusiastic and friendly as she was. read more

AVOID customer service if possible. Very understaff. Came here 2 separate days to pick up an online order. When I arrived at the customer service on the 4th floor, there was only 1 person ahead of me. At the time, there was only 1 person working at customer service. Took me over an hour to finally talk with the customer service representative. Seems like this place is very short staff. Wished they would hire more staff to help with customer service. Other than that, this place has decent sales items here. However, good luck coming here to pick up an online order and or returning an item. My wife and my daughter (5 years old) went to JP to buy Fathers' day stuffs at the Wheaton MD location and in between my daughter ranaway into the food court and her mam tried to get her at the gate but the alarm made a sound. The security guard disrespectful hold my wife and daughter. My wife tried to explain the situation, but they mistreated my wife and 5yrs old daughter, SAD. I really despise this JC Penney location, but it was the closest one near me in an emergency. If I had time, I would have visited a different department store (see Macy's, Nordstrom). Where do I start? The purpose of my visit was to buy my stepson slacks and a tie. When I arrived, I went to the men's section, and not one representative was in sight. It took 20 minutes for someone to assist me. When he did arrive, I told him that the slacks that I needed were not on the floor, and the last pair was on the mannequin. The representative told me that he needed help to remove the slacks from the mannequin (no problem). When help did arrive, I was greeted with an attitude, no greeting--actually, I felt invisible. I was treated this way by the supervisor, Melissa. She told her employee to remove the slacks from the mannequin, and she left without a word. When I said, "thank you," I still didn't get a response. I ended up purchasing the slacks and tie, but I will not forget this experience at this particular JC Penney. Going forward, I will make sure to go out of my way not to patronize the JC Penney at Wheaton Mall. read more

This review is primarily for the Portrait Studio. It's great! My wife was totally blown away by the professionalism of the photographer. He was AMAZING with our 3 year old; got him to smile and laugh non-stop and posed him in some great poses. We had about 12 excellent photo shots to chose from! As for the buying process, it's pretty standard; the sales staff are ok (though the place can get crazy busy before the holidays). That being said, it's kind of strange b/c the Portrait Studio keeps longer hours than the store, so if you're there before the store opens, be prepared to call the portrait studio and have them come meet you and escort you. Also, note that you can go onto jcp portrait's website to make an appointment; and they almost always have coupons on there, so check those out before you go! As for the store in general, it's ok... has the normal JC Penny merchandise, but it's a little run-down and is on three different levels and is a bit large and confusing. read more

Would give ZERO stars if possible! They have ONE (1) dressing room on the entire women's floor. The clothing selection is good but in total disarray and nowhere to try them on! Total MESS And if you finally get a dressing room - they are complete garbage. So OLD school, terrible lighting, no benches - look to never have been cleaned -disgusting. The manager on duty in women's clothing was rude. She refused to come to the register to talk face to face when asked if I could use a coupon that expired yesterday (less than 12 hrs). The clerk was super nice he tried to explain to her that I had traveled quite a distance to shop specifically at this store yet she said "no" and that was that. Even the clerk was upset about it. He was very helpful and patient with me, suggesting I look online for other coupons and even offering to order the clothes for me online and ship to my home so that I could use the online coupon. They handled the madness of Black Friday in a calm, cool, and collected manner... and I got a great deal on Bali and Maidenform bras and $5.88 mock turtlenecks to prove it! I was in and out in under 20 minutes including the madness of finding parking! Good signage made it really easy for me to find my bargains in a hurry on that Black day. This review is for the JC Penney Portrait Studio... Yeah, I was at Wheaton mall...it was under construction, I did find my car unharmed and got back without getting carjacked! Minus 1 star for taking my 2PM appointment and not letting me in until 3:20PM because of the screaming child before my appointment. +1 star for the wonderful girl that definitely has a patience of a saint by allowing that horrible screaming child calm down and still had pictures to sell. +1 star for the great customer service person that took my appointment over the phone and directed me to a 50% off coupon from the JC Penney website. +1 for the price I paid...under $55 for a ton of pictures 8x10s, 5x7s you name it, I had it..and to Lifetime touch that charged $54 per picture....come on...the quality at JC Penney was just the same! +1 star for delivering the pictures as promised Good job JC Penney! read more

My review of this JcPenney location is for the Portrait Studio. I wanted to get a professional photograph taken and had been procrastinating for a while. While looking on Groupon I stumbled upon a deal for $25.99, which included a high resolution digital image and 8 sheets of photos ranging in various sizes. My appointment was at 3:40 and I think I arrived right at 3:52 pm ish (Yeah yeah I know lol). I was greeted by Susan who checked me in. Of course standard procedures for redeeming the Groupon were followed. My signal was bad, as the Portrait Studio is located in the basement, however I was able to connect to the store wifi. I choose my background (I recommend a grey background for professional head shots) and waited for around 15-20 mins, they have a dressing room and mirror if you need to change outfits or get your hair and make up together. I think the photo shoot went really well. Susan was my photographer and was very easy to work with. She also let me change my top too. After the shoot my images loaded on the screen and I was able to select the ones I wanted. The checkout process was seamless and easy. I was very satisfied with the photos too. My digital image was emailed to me about 2 hours or less after my photo session along with all the photos that were taken. The digital image was very easy to download and save to my desktop. I will have to come back and pick up the actual photo sheets, which will be ready in about a week. I give my experience at the Portrait Studio a four. Overall, the ease and availability of scheduling my session was great and I love my pics, but the wait time brought the rating down just one star. I would definitely come back in the future even if I didn't have a Groupon because they Portrait studio always has promotions and coupons. I highly recommend for a nice and affordable photography session. read more

Not the greatest JC Penny I've ever been in. The place always seems to be crazy with stuff and people everywhere! I went in to find a pair of men's pajamas and the signage was not clear on what was on sale and what was not. As there were so many different products all over the area. There were also no representatives anywhere to be found to ask a question. When going to checkout there were two cashiers but they moved slower than molasses. I lived a long time in the south I understand moving slow, but these two had them beat and during the Holidays! Oh well, I made it out but probably won't test my chances again! read more

Well...why dont we start with the good. - New and clean layouts -Decent pricing - A few new clothing lines that will satisfy the fashionista within me. the Bad - I had to search far and wide for a sales rep, and sometimes I could not find them at all. I was wondering "Where are the employees, is this store running it self?" - Not enough cashiers, the lines become overwhelming because the check out stations are not organized. The stations are bulit to have 4 cashiers, but they only had 1 or 2 on the days I went, which were somewhat busy days. -The customer service should be seperate from check out, I could not find a sales rep that was free to assist me with simple price check....instead I had to wait in a long line for that service.I think it would be a better experience if both check out and customer service are seperated. (Please keep in mind I did not bother to explore the whole store so there may be a customer service section that I am unaware of) -I agree with other reviewers that there needs to be price check machines because waiting in a long line to figure out sales prices is not fun. (there were one or two items I found without tags) I am not completely disappointed in this JCP and I will shop there again. I don't know how JC Penney, or at least the Wheaton store, remains in business. No one on the floor, ever, to answer a question, only two stations to check out with one person and ten people in each line. I could have gotten an extra shirt for one cent, but never saw anyone to answer if I was choosing the right one to get the discount. After waiting half an hour to check out (and that after changing check out stations) I couldn't go bank and hunt more - I was out of time on my Zip Car. I have had this happen every time. I've shopped at JCPenney for decades, but no more! I had a problem w a product that had a 5 year limited warranty. I ended up spending too much time trying to resolve my issue. I needed a part, company doesn't make replacement parts. Customer service said go to local store, store called customer service and warranty company. No resolution. More personal calls to customer service and warranty company. Another trip to store. I was told I would be contacted soon. It's been two weeks. I'm ready to join others in saying goodbye to the brick and mortars, pillars of Americana and shop online! The item in reference is their Protocol luggage. Very understaffed. I know I came on a Friday afternoon, but I only could find one employee and she was at the checkout desk. I asked for assistance in the men's department finding a suit and either no one was sent or no one came or no one was available, but I waited twenty minutes which is too long for customer service. The lady at the desk periodically called over the intercom for a coworker to call her but no one was calling her back apparently, because she kept requesting someone to call her back. Maybe it's a little impatient, but if I'm gonna drop $300 at your store and all I need is someone to come do measurements and assist a little, I don't think asking for a staffed department in asking too much. At the very least, it was a bad experience. Maybe it isn't indicative of the store as a whole, but this is the worst JC Penney's experience I've had by far. I was incredibly impressed with the service that my husband and I experienced at JCPenney today, which was a rainy Saturday (aka busy mall time). We were looking for housewares. These days most department stores have so few staff that I wasn't expecting any assistance. First we stopped in window treatments and had a wonderful experience with Margo. Margo gave us lots of good tips about JCPenney honeycomb blinds, which is what we were interested in. Then we went to appliances and William immediately offered his assistance with a washer/dryer. His input was incredibly helpful since we have a small space for a washer/dryer. Thank you for making such a strong impression on us. We greatly appreciate your help! read more

This review is for the JCPenney women's lingerie dept. I went in looking for bras that fit in a peculiar size, and Pamela in lingerie helped me find the perfect one. She measured me, then probably spent an hour bringing me bras back and forth from different brands and sizes and helping me understand how they should fit. She knew what she had in stock of each brand and size before she brought me a new choice. After trying at least a dozen bras, we found the perfect one, and I bought two. Pamela is really sweet, if not a bit eccentric; she has the tendency to personify the bras ("try this lady on! She'll fit you beautifully") but if you don't mind little quirks, she's excellent at what she does. Downside is that the selection of bras at JCPenney is rather limited, maybe one corner of a dept to choose from. They do have the option to order online or recommend places for you to buy stuff they don't carry. Only reason this isn't a 5 is because the selection got cut down during JCP's rebranding, so they don't have a vast expansion of sizes (nothing above a DDD or a 46 band). If you are just wearing a crappy bra and need to get a new one without going to a fancy specialty store, this is the place. P.S. most of the bras were on sale! Mine was marked $37 but I only paid $21.99! read more
