Shopping in Vancouver, Washington... My niece and I were at Vancouver Mall and noticed that JCPenney was one of the tenants. We decided to take a look. JCPenney is not in Honolulu anymore. I have fond childhood memories of my Auntie Alice taking my mom, sisters, and me to lunch at the former Ala Moana location. I also have fond memories of shopping at the Las Vegas location with my Auntie Lily, my mom, and my sister (the mom of my niece). So, with my niece, I feel like we've come full circle and have crossed the generations. Last year I was amazed at the customer service in the shoe department. Young women worked with us to get my 2 grandkids well fitted shoes. This year a different young women was rude and refused to help us. We took our $300 bucks we ened up spending to another store in the mall. Do better Penny's. read more

We love the clothes here because of the colors and styles. This time was no exception. I was also very happy to see Pet's accessories in the store right beside the humans because it saves me a trip to Petco for rain-jacket. The price was very fair and the service was great. read more

While shopping at JC Penny's I didnt have any bad experiences. The staff were friendly and courteous and asked it I needed any help. I was window shopping for makeup and the associate was knowledgeable on the products. I even got a mini makeover to see what colors work best. There is plenty of parking and there is space for bikes. On the upper level there is bus service so this is a big plus. I like shopping here the prices are fair and the quality is good. There is higherend clothing and makeup. The only thing I observed was the checkout lines were kind of long but that could be from a short staff or more people shopping. read more

Stopped by the salon today and the dark haired stylist trimmed my daughter's bangs. She was really nice but totally jacked up her hair. I didn't notice until after we left the store because my daughter brushed them to the side because she didn't want me to say anything. They can't be fixed anytime soon because we will have to cut them to the shortest un-even piece which is an inch above her eyebrows, right in the middle of her forehead, I understand these aren't master stylists, but bangs aren't that difficult to cut... read more

So don't buy appliances from these guys unless you enjoy being lied to and not having the appliances you paid for ever reach your house! Bought a fridge today, asked specifically if they delivered, since we saw signage that said that appliances over $299 would be delivered and installed. With a big smile they guy said yep and handed me a card to get delivery set up. Called about delivery, it was a third party and is a start up, they don't even deliver refrigerators and won't be doing so for well over a month until they reach "phase 2" of their business model and that it would cost another $200. Called JC Penny and was told that they couldn't deliver floor models, but we could pick it up and maybe borrow a truck. Not exactly helpful, but thanks for thinking I'm a ridiculously amazing power lifter that can move appliances alone with one hand! read more

I went this store yesterday to purchase wedding bands for my upcoming event. The problem was that I couldn't even get service. There was 1 person behind the counter and she was engaged in a conversation with 2 other customers. She called for assistance 3 times; none came. After 20 minutes, my girlfriend and myself left. The girl behind the counter didn't seem to worry about. When we stated that we were leaving and that customer service needed some work, we got the passive aggressive "Thank you, come again." Trust me, we won't. We went to Kay jewelers instead, where we did purchase a set of wedding bands. read more

Updated: Janet at the store was and is fantastic. This update is soley about the online people. So, after canceling my order, my doorbells rings... AND THERE IS MY PURCHASE! The order that I confirmed was canceled is now sitting on my door, and I am charged for it. I call up customer service to dispute the charges on my card, and they are telling me that they have no record, and they proceeded to argue whether the charge was on my card. I sent them a screen shot of my card account, and am currently waiting for them to call back. The online portion of this business is the shoddiest piece of work I've come across in a long long time. I'm outraged at their lack of customer service, their rudeness, and the inability to conduct business properly. I rarely get this fired up, but this whole situation got way out of hand. They attempted to give me a $10.00 credit for my trouble, to which I refused, and they passed my request to a supervisor. After a lengthy conversation with a supervisor, I finally got credited the amount that I was asking for. read more

Incredibly frustrating. Bought a beautiful dress in May for the Summer, decided to wear it today only to find that the security tag was still attached. Called in advance to ask if they could remove it so I wouldn't look like a damn thief when I went in and was told they could only remove it with a receipt. I explained that while I no longer have the receipt, I had used my JCPenney's card and we could look it up that way. Then I was told that the tags needed to be attached as well. Long story short, YouTube did a better job of helping me remove the tag than JCPenney did. Double check your clothes before you leave! read more

My daughter purchased a blue topaz birthstone ring for me as a birthday gift along with a lifetime care plan. The first time I used the lifetime care plan was to simply get the ring cleaned and the prongs checked to make sure the Integrity of the ring was still in tact. It took over 4 weeks. On April 3, 2018 I took my ring in to be sized and have a small diamond replaced that was missing. 5 weeks went by and I heard nothing so I stopped in only to find out they had the wrong phone number on their work order. I was told they cleaned the ring but they couldn't fix the stone "because it cost more to fix than the ring was WORTH". That made absolutely NO sense since the stone was a tiny chip which was already on the ring when purchased along with a LIFETIME CARE PLAN. I argued with the sales associate for several minutes before the manager was called over. What they were trying to tell me was it would cost MORE to fix the ring than the ring was WORTH. How on earth could that be and what difference does it make when there was a LIFETIME CARE PLAN THAT COVERS THINGS SUCH AS THIS. After arguing with the manager, she offered me a credit toward another ring purchase, or a refund on the purchase price. That was NOT an option since this was a gift from my daughter. After probably 20 minutes, Shannon agreed to take care of fixing the ring at no cost. My daughter is getting married in June and it was important I have my ring for her wedding. Shannon assured me this would happen. This was May 6. I received a call from Shannon on May 23 telling me the jeweler would replace the stone for the cost of $25.00. That was MY responsibility, not JC Penney's. Again, this was unacceptable! She assured me my ring would be fixed at no charge and now they want me to pay for the stone. Now it's not what the ring is worth, but what my daughter PAID for the ring. Shannon said because she only paid $40. For it on a really good sale, they couldn't fix it because it was going to cost $47.00 Why should what a person pays matter over what the item is worth? Plus, as I've mentioned, an extra cost for a LIFETIME CARE PLAN which includes replacing missing stones. After threatening going to social media with this, Shannon finally agreed to fix the ring but it would be the last time anything was to be done on the ring. I urge you ALL to think twice about purchasing jewelry from this store and for goodness sake don't pay extra for a useless LIFETIME CARE PLAN. I'm afraid of what they will do do my precious ring now that I am an unhappy customer. I will never shop at this store again. read more

Good service when you can find someone to help. Not too many people on the floor. Men's associates are a lot easier to find than women's. It is almost as if no one works in the women's department. They need at least two people on weekdays working in mens. Weekends is no problem but on a weekday if you need help on the floor in mens there is just one person and he or she is doing the register. Enough with the cut backs, put more people out there. read more

Purchased a mattress on Black Friday 2018. 1st attempt at delivering was Dec 28th. That's 1 month later. Delivery company did not deliver the right size mattress so refused shipment. Customer service said it would take 2weeks before they can ship out another "identical" order. Second attempt at delivering Jan 18th (3 weeks later) same thing wrong mattress. The entire time customer service is uncooperative and in short does not give a crap about my situation. They simply state they'll refund me once the mattress is back at the warehouse or 48hrs. This place is a joke and should be ashamed of their customer service. Get your act together or you'll find yourself out of business like many other chains who forgot where their bread was buttered. read more

So last night I was going to buy a couple Men's Van's t-shirts on line and use the coupons they had but waited until this morning. Well today they don't take coupons for Van's T-shirts and the price went up $5.00. I also looked at a Women's Columbia fleece jacket that a couple weeks ago was $39.99 and now it's $65.00 on line. What are you doing Jcpenney's price gouging before Christmas? I bought a lot of things from you on line, it's easier for me to shop on line than in the store because of my arthritis. Also I would buy these things in the store but they don't have stock of shirts and sizes as they do on line and they don't have them on sale like they used to have on line. We went to look at furniture as they were having a 40% off sale. The selection for leather recliners was limited. The only decent one was listed at an unbelievable $1,900 or $1,140 after the 40% discount and before taxes. They then offered an additional 10% off making it $1,026. This was not a top of the line chair like LazyBoy. We ended up going to the Fred Meyer store in Orchards and purchased a similar leather rocker/recliner chair listed at $499 on sale for $349. After additional discounts of 10% for first Tues. of month shoppers and another 10% for seniors over 55, we got the chair for $229.99. read more

We ordered vertical blinds from their home decorating person. First, it was delayed because our choice of fabric was back-ordered. She said that must be because it was a popular choice (salesspeak for "we didn't plan ahead"). When they did come in the only option for installation was a call between 8am-8:30 am to tell us whether it would be morning or afternoon. This is day of installation which means you are pretty well tied up for entire day. The real issue was that we paid $15 for "removal" of the old blinds. Only when the installer was here did we find out that meant "taking down old blinds" but not removing them from the house. Cost us $35.00 to get someone to take them to the dump.
