I was shopping at JCPenney's and just happened to use the restroom. I noticed the hair salon right outside the door. I wanted to ask them how much it was for a haircut and blow dry. I have to say.Vi blow dry my hair perfectly. Best shampoo I've ever had. I think this is a hidden gem. I think if you try it, you're gonna love it. It's going to be your next favorite hair salon read more

Here from out of town and I went in. No drapes to put on customers while they're getting their hair worked done. No foot rest or reclining chairs for the shampoo bowl. And what's with all the trashy people here? Good Lord, grab a pair of scissors and do your own hair. It would be better than this dump. read more

my son went and now he looks chopped, with a messed up hair line and almost buzz look, the lady doing it does not even know how to hold the razor and when I showed her a picture of a low taper fade she said she would do it he looked better before the cut, the zero line is almost at the top of his head and it's disgusting she couldn't hold the razor straight either, when I confronted her about why nothing was blending and why it looked nothing like the picture she said he had curly hair when I asked her to fix his hairline she said he had curly hair, one thing she did right was set a good vibe and was really perky, although I would prefer a good haircut, look at how bad the hair cut was. read more

I visited the salon at JCPenny, East Towne Mall in Madison. I had some trouble setting an appointment and finding the right person so I called and the person who I originally scheduled with. she told me that there was someone better suited to do what I wanted and switched me to her schedule. Stacy answered and set me up with Kimberli. she has been doing hair for 35 years. I have hair down to my waist and have been trimming it myself for about.a decade. It is heavy and pulling out the natural curl so she did a piggy-back perm. She was absolutely lovely - she rolled my hair up faster than I thought possible, all the while chatting and being friendly, funny and sweet, like an old friend. When she was done, I felt like I had my hair back again. I highly recommend her to anyone with really long hair who wants to keep the length and get their bounce back. Thank you Kimberli, you were amazing! read more

I've been going to this salon for over 20 years. I am lucky to have a very skilled and dedicated hairstylist, Laura. My appointments are always on time and if there is some issue regarding scheduling, I am always notified. I am pleased with the outstanding and professional service that I receive, and I would not go elsewhere. read more

I had my hair cut recently by Kristy. I've never had my cut here before but was in need of one quickly. I was able to get in within the hour. I have short, straight hair, and in a blunt cut. Kristy did an excellent job taking her time to get it perfect. The price for the wash, cut, and style was pretty reasonable, especially compared to other salons in the area. read more

When I arrived at the Salon, the lady I'm booked with isn't experienced with Ethnic people hair. Then the lady that did my hair charged way more amd did not honor my JC Penney $10 Cash coupon because she's a "Master Stylist". My concern is if what I came for was going to cost more with a different stylist doing my hair, that is something that should have been disclosed - so that I can make a sound decision on if I want to proceed with service. So me spending $110 instead of my appointment price of $35 is totally what should have NEVER happened. Esp. with a wash and style service. $110 is pricing for a more upscale service or maybe 2 services. But definitely not a wash and style. The Stylist wasn't too shabby, but the practices is shady and I don't like it. You need tk let custo know of price changed BEFORE offering services that is not from the original booked Stylist. Also, the booking page online needs to list Stylists who are experienced with working on Ethnic people hair! read more

This was the most unprofessional experience imaginable. We had 2 appointments for our family to have their hair done by Hannah before we had a portrait session scheduled (also at JC Penney.) We had booked in advance with Hannah they even called and confirmed the details. When we arrive we waited behind a number of walk-ins and then were sent to a room to wait for over 35 minutes. We're told Hannah knows we are there, but when I leave the room to say that even though we booked with Hannah we will take anyone who is available as we have portraits coming up and I find out that Hannah is not only available but was not told her appointment (us) arrived. Hannah did a fine job with the clipper cut BUT there was no time remaining for the second service (wash and blow dry.) That's okay... we could just fix it ourselves. I asked if we could buy a comb - they said no, they didn't have one. I asked if I could borrow one for a few seconds, again no. I went down to portraits and they didn't have one either - in fact, ironically, they suggested the salon when I asked if the store sold combs. But no... we had to cancel our portrait session - my young child left in tears because Hannah would not let us BORROW a comb for 30 seconds - we were even willing to pay for it (in fact, I even offered $20 and then $50 for the comb.) When I called on the phone and asked to speak to a manager after we left, Hannah claimed she never saw or heard me asking for the comb. She said she did see my husband but not me and they did not have combs for sale. Well, I use a wheelchair so really it's even more insulting for her to then say she didn't "see" or "hear" me over their high counter when I had actually come back to the chair with him and she saw me roll up to the counter for payment. Regardless, she had no trouble repeatedly saying no to someone she couldn't see or hear and I heard her just fine. If we had just walked in off the street I would have understood their refusal - to even let us borrow a comb for a few seconds but we were paying customers (in fact, it was their fault the second person couldn't get a shampoo and blow dry and we needed the comb in the first place!) read more

if I could no stars I would. I had Wendy at the Greensburg location for highlight. I have highlights for years. I have never seen anything like it. it looks like someone just stamped color wherever. There is no way she did not see her huge mistakes that she made. she even said she was happy with color. One she completely over highlighted my hair. Colored underneath with not the right color, and did not cover those grays. I did end up calling sending pictures to the manage. She did set up for me to have it corrected with a different stylist. That stylist was very nice and I'm sure tried to do her best to correct it. My color is not anything that I was looking to get. Unfortunately I guess to correct wendy mistake we had to do some darker shades which are wide and noticeable. My hair have since been dry and breaking and I will have to wait a while and go to a salon to get my hair to what I wanted. The manager never reached out again to see if I was happy with the correction and believe it or not refund was given. I should've just asked for a refund and went elsewhere. Trust me stay away from this salon. read more

Hello, I had a really bad experience today. Snow was my hair stylist, she kept saying how thin my hair was. I responded by being positive saying "well it could be worse". After she said it a least 7 times through out myi visit, she then said it to another customer by lifting the towel on my head and showing her my hair. I finally said, "please stop talking about my hair that I just wanted to relax and have a good time". I was so sad when all I wanted to do is feel good. I went home and cried and felt really depressed the whole night. Please address this so another person doesn't have the same experience. read more

Update:: The hairstylist I had gone to, moved to Empire Hair Salon. It is right by JCPenny, upper level. I'm happy she is still in the same mall. Finally! A place, or should I name my hairstylist that can do an Asian hair good. She does what I want to exactly the way I want it - and the massaging of the scalp and neck is an added bonus! NO ONE in Charlotte can pull this off. I have to wait for my trips to visit my in-laws to hair my haircut at this place with Kim Ngoc. She's awesome! read more

I went in needing my blue/pink hair (which was bleached out to nearly nothing prior to arrival to the salon) covered with a dark brown to be "natural" for a new job. I told her this going in and she said it was no problem since my hair was a VERY light pink/blue. She placed a lighter brown/blonde on (despite me telling her she'd have to go dark to truly cover up the colors) and once she did that, it was over. My hair was GREEN. Had she listened to me or even used color theory she'd know to use a reddish brown to cover what she needed to. She spent the next hour or so complaining that my hair was green (her doing) and asking the one other hairdresser in the salon what to do... she didn't even listen to her when she said to use color remover to take out the new blonde/brown and try again. The lady then had the manager come talk to me. She lied and told the manager I came in with "rainbow hair" with "at least 7 different colors." I showed the manager my "before picture" to show she was a liar. The manager then told me 1) it wouldn't be able to be fixed that day as they were closing in 30 minutes (after my lady had been "fixing" my hair for 2 hours) and 2) it would now be a "color correction" which is another charge... because HER employee messed it up. How convenient!! I refused to make another appointment and went to pay, where the manager told me there was no charge. I told her I wanted to leave a tip for my girl (she had spent 3 hours on my hair and sorta tried to fix it) and then the manager charged me $170 for the appointment because she "had to charge something in order to give a tip"... could have told me to buy a shampoo or brush or nail polish. I was so pissed at that point I just paid and walked out! I left with GREEN hair! I then went to get my daughter and her friend who is a stylist and went to Sally's to get a reddish darker brown color (cuz color theory... red cancels green!) and had them fix the mess with STORE BOUGHT dye! Covered it perfectly! I was so grateful that they fixed it, but so pissed that this woman charged me $170 to give me green hair! People with little to no cosmetology experience figured out how to fix it when an actual salon couldn't (or wouldn't!) I went to a salon to begin with so they could have multiple colors at hand to combat it vs going store bought and having to potentially make a few trips to find a color to cover it. I should have just trusted my daughter and her friend instead! I will NEVER set foot in this place again! There's a reason JCP salons are going out of business!! read more

I've been debating on how to rate this salon as there's numerous factors, such as 1) the overall salon experience, 2) stylist abilities with the haircut & 3) the hair color. So while I experienced several good aspects, the bottomline is that I am not happy with my end result. Overall the salon offers an enjoyable experience with ease of making appointments, competitive prices + available coupons & as I witnessed, many regular customers. Upon having my children's hair cut here a couple times with success, I decided to make an appointment with Rency for a cut & single process color. At this point my ash brown, natural hair color was significantly showing at the roots (atleast 4 inches) & I was looking to match my over highlighted hair to it. Plenty of sample to match to, in other words. Unfortunately I ended up with an all over strawberry blonde color of sorts, simply not at all what we had discussed prior to proceeding with the color. The plus side is that my haircut was perfect & exactly as requested. I ended up returning the next day for a color correction (same stylist) & while I appreciated the time & effort the red, brassy tones became even more prominent. Perhaps even tints of green in the lower half of my hair - is that even possible?! Thankfully it's just hair & fixable with the right colorist (that I have yet to find)... so lesson learned, we'll stick with only the haircuts here! read more

Rency has been cutting my husband's hair for 7+ years and followed him here from another salon. Wanting to save some money on my cuts ($60+), I tried him out and was impressed. He listened to my vision and made sure that I was happy with the results, which I was. My cut, wash and style was $45 & hubby's was $35 and we left with free samples. The atmosphere is bare boned but I'd rather get a quality, affordable cut and save $60/year. read more

ELENA is your woman. She is an AMAZING hair stylist and did all of the hairstyles for my wedding EXCEPT on the actual wedding day because she wasn't allowed to come on site (I think it's some agreement she has with the salon). I had an Indian wedding so I had about four different functions and she did my hair for everything and I was SO incredibly happy with all the styles she did. I wanted some extra volume so I brought in a hair piece and even though the piece didn't respond well to heat, she found a way to blend it into my hair and did such an amazing job that no one could tell I had an extra hair piece in. I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks and have already booked her. AMAZING. read more

I've been to several different hairstylists at JC Penney Salon over the past few years. One hairstylist I really loved left and I never quite found someone else I always wanted to visit regularly. That said, I think this salon has very fair prices and lots of great stylists. My mom has been going to Laura forever for highlights and cuts and loves how she does her hair. A few months ago, I made an appointment to get my hair styled for a wedding. I was a bit disappointed with how it turned out because it was very plain. I definitely should have brought a picture so it was sort of my fault. But I asked for loose waves and I got limp flat hair. While she was trimming my hair, she asked me, with a concerned look on her face, who had done my layers. I don't want to say names but the hairstylist who had done my layers is one of the popular hairstylists at the salon. I wasn't really sure how to feel about that question! Overall, I do recommend this salon! But bring pictures of the look you are going for so there's no misunderstanding. read more

I was a bit hesitant at first to try a salon in a department store, however I was pleasantly surprised with a BEAUTIFUL haircut. My stylist was Renci, he is skillful and carefully listens to your needs. He provided a perfect haircut for a fraction of what I have been paying. I also appreciated the fact that he did not take off too much to achieve the results that I wanted. Minutes, after I walked out of the salon, I had a complete stranger ask me who does my hair. ...Perfection. I will be back. read more

I have had terrible hairstyle for the past one month that is the worst hair style I have ever had. My hair stylist is Rency. He cut the left said of top almost 2 inches shorter than the right side ,the left side hair is very thin, and the right side is thick. It's not good hair cut.I can not believe that he is a professional hair stylist and I don't want to go back to him to fix it. I fear how he will be able to fix. Rency is fantastic! He's one of the master stylists and this is the second time he has done my hair. I have natural hair and I recently got my hair colored at JCP. I had a consultation with the stylist that was recommended for natural hair. Unfortunately, she did not provide me with the desired results. I was very upset and called the salon the next day to see how they could remedy the situation. They allowed me to come back and Rency did my hair this time around. Let me just say he took the picture I provided him and went above and beyond! I am very happy with my results the second time around. Rency was very gentle with my hair , especially with the texture of my hair. Bob the manager was very sweet and was very understanding. I definitely plan to return and have Rency do my hair again in the future. If you are looking for great color, Rency is your guy! read more

She was the first person I could find who would give my short hair volume using a razor. She is also great with color. My rating is specifically about Mike Fullbright at the JC Penney Salon in Fair Oaks Mall, in VA. He is incredible. He's been my stylist for about 5 years and I followed him there to continue having him cut and color my hair after three moves even though thre are far more convenient locations for me. I always get compliments on my trendy cuts and color. He is friendly, well-trained (and up on current looks) and a GREAT value. To get the same quality style elsewhere would cost significantly more. The salon is nothing fancy but he's worth it. read more

I didn't know what to expect from a JCPenney salon, but boy - was I impressed! When I called looking for a new stylist, the gentleman at the front desk said that Daisy would be a great fit for my requests and he handed the phone to her. I was very pleased when she suggested that we have a face-to-face consult so I could be sure of what I wanted to do. She took time out of her schedule to meet me, and she really LISTENED to my ideas and concerns. Her experience and ideas, together with my wishes, easily convinced me to set an appointment. It is so rare that a stylist *really* listens, and takes the time to customize a style to the person. In my case, Daisy performed a miracle with my 50+ year old hair... she found a very flattering color for my features, added the soft highlights and lowlights I'd wanted, and finished it off with a fabulous professional cut. I've been told that I look 10 years younger! I very highly recommend Daisy as a stylist and color professional. She's been coloring hair pretty much all her life (starting with dolls, I bet!), and she really knows what she's doing. She seems to treat each person like a work of art, and takes the time to make you feel (and look) really beautiful. read more

Honestly the best hair experience I have ever had!!!! I usually hate cutting my hair because the stylist never fully understands what I want and cut it the way they want to(even if I show them pictures of what i want!) This time, i wanted a haircut and hair coloring (red balayage). I was extremely nervous since I have wanted to try it forever, but didn't want to regret it later. The stylist i picked was Renci cuz i have heard great reviews about him and I was not let down! He listened to everything I wanted and gave me more than what I asked for! He is the stylist to pick if you're coming for the first time (: He told me how to take care of my hair and what he was going to do before he did it and I was beyond impressed!
