I had such a great experience at Unique hair zone, Kim is the owner of the salon and she dose amazing job. I'm giving them five stars! I went in wanting my long hair straightened, colored, and trimmed, and the stylist nailed it. They listened to what I wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and made me feel comfortable the whole time. My hair feels silky and looks so healthy after the straightening. The color turned out exactly how I pictured it -- even and vibrant -- and the cut refreshed my length while keeping the style I love. The staff were friendly, the salon was clean and relaxing, and they used products that left my hair shiny without feeling heavy. I'll definitely be back and would recommend them to anyone looking for a skilled, friendly stylist. read more

I am never disappointed with a trip to visit my favorite salon. A hairstylist is more than just an artform. It is the feeling that is provided and how your particular service made you feel during and afterwards. Kim and her staff do an amazing job at welcoming their customers and making sure they are comfortable throughout their stay. With that said I appreciate all the work that Kim puts into her artwork of hair. You can truly see her professionalism shine through as getting our hair done is a form of therapy as much as it is for us, for her! I went to Unique Salon Zone for a simple root touch up that I figured anyone could do. When I walked in and I was looked at as if I was an alien for 15 seconds with no words coming out of anyones mouth, then someone finally decides to greet me. Kim, the owner who I spoke with on the phone earlier sat me down and starting playing with my hair with DIRTY gloves which was used on a lady previously for a perm! I immediately asked her to change her gloves and she giggled as if I didn't know anything about hygiene but agreed to do so. My hair was not sectioned when she started to do the root touch up which I noticed right away. I did not agree with half of the techniques she was using. In cosmetology school we called those techniques "lazy work" which is exactly what it was. Another complaint I'd like to make is that she was very rough when brushing my hair, it was being pulled around. Overall, very slight experience. Wouldn't recommend. Highlights attempt ended up being all grey hair with no contrast!!!! I should have known by the look of the place. Pretty run down, old and dirty. Lisa was supposed to highlight my hair. She had cut and highlighted once before. I wasn't impressed with either but I thought I would give her another chance. It started as ususal, I wondered how much she really understood of my request since English is definitely a second language for her. I told her I didn't think the colors she used matched/blended well with the color of my hair. I looked too blonde and it should be a bit darker to match/blend better. I have had my hair highlighted many times but never had this much foil on my head. It actually felt heavy! I kept thinking, she's coloring my whole head! After about 1 1/2 hours, I was put under a dryer so the dye would set. She kept checking me. Eventually, she had me sit in a chair and she redid some of the foil with more dye. (?) At that time, my hair looked really dry and very light (exactly what I didn't want). I then was asked to go to the sink for what I thought was a rinse. Instead, Lisa spoke to another employee, obviously about me but not in English so I didn't know what was going on. This other person told me she was putting in a rinse but it smelled like another dye and they had me sit there for 30 minutes (I could see the clock). Then I was told to get under the dryer again while Lisa took care of two other customers(!!!!!). By this time it was over 3 hours and I wasn't near done. I got up and looked at my hair and realized Lisa and her helper had managed to DYE MY WHOLE HEAD GREY!!!!!!! I was appalled!!!! When I tried to talk to Lisa about it, she just sort of laughed. I made the worst decision of my life by going to this dirtiest salon and by doing my hair color by Kim. My hairs are almost gone after 72 hrs of coloring from this salon. Prior to my appointment I called kim to make sure that their groupon deal is valid she asked me not to buy the deal with groupon rather pay at salon and she will give me the same value. When I reached there the salon was empty other than one elederly client. The entire place was clumsy and utterly disorganised. I showed a few pictures that I downloaded from google and was trying to make her understand what I want. I stepped out of the salon to get a thing from my car. When I got back in two minutes I saw she already made the color mixture. It was fishy. When I asked her which color do you use because I have some skin allergies she refused to reply. That is when I should have left the place. She did a foil color on my hair in no time, totally unattentive and careless. The entire process took 15minutes and then she washed my hair with very hot water that almost burned my scalp. Then she did my haircut in two minutes and chopped of most of my hair inspite of requesting her not to cut off more than an inch. My hair color turned out totally different from what I asked for. They were totally bleached by some cheap harsh chemicals. When I told her that upfront she immidiately got angry and said you have to spend more to get what you want! I was disappointed and shattered. Then she went inside a made another mixture and put that on the front part of my hair and washed it in three minutes. The hair got a bit darker tone and I thought of letting it go. I had almost no energy left to argue with the rude woman. At the end she asked me to pay with cash or venmo!!!!! which is beyond my surprise. However I paid with my card and she asked me to leave some tips! I am writing this review after 72hrs of my hair color. I washed it and I felt like crying when I seeing hair. She used the cheapest color available in the market and made my hair look aweful. I don't know what will I do with my hair now. I wish she was a tiny bit honest towards her customers. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

There is only one stylist who is the owner, I showed her pictures of Sharon Stone hair styles from my cell phone and she cut it pretty close to it and I got lots of compliments. However, she spent less and less time and effort after that when I went back, even after I told her about the compliments and referred people to this place. I was very disappointed last time, I had to trim the top and side of my hair at home because she did not layer it enough and my hair kept going flat. I am not going back anymore. read more
