We were in search of a couple dresses for some upcoming events and made our way to the mall. JCPenny was one of our stops and continues to be a solid spot for clothing a decent prices. There's still the problem with different brands having different sizing, so a number is more like a range. The plus is that with fitting rooms available there's less guess work and it's easy to come home knowing you either found something or you didn't. We walked through a few areas to find various styles and sizes of dresses before heading to the changing room. And the changing room really could use some attention, from the carpet to lighting, and even carpet, it looks like the place hasn't been updated or properly deep cleaned in a while. Luckily I was shopping with another person because I would have felt a bit uneasy in there alone. The staff who helped us was very friendly though and as we paid for our items, (yay we found a few things) they let us know about some return policies and where the return area is at that location in case it was needed. Overall it is a great option, but it could really use some attention and care for the customer experience. read more

This isn't the store I think of to buy clothing. I think of it as a second tier store to Macy's and we primary shop at Macy's as it's my husband's store of choice (and it used to be just down the street from us till they closed that location). His real favorite store is Bloomingdales they don't have one close by. I saw on TV or online that they were having a great sale on sweaters under $20 each so I wanted to check them out. I was blown away by their selection. At first it took me awhile to find the sweaters. I went though juniors that had one or two, but they were too short. Then I went through formal wear and they had a couple of nice sweaters, but a little too dressy for everyday wear, but I did love the rhinestones. I was getting pretty disappointed at this time not finding any sweaters. Slowly I went around the curve and saw one that was a nice style, but too baggy, then I saw another that was a possibility, then they all came pouring in. I even found a petite section so they arms were shorter and they didn't hang too far down my waist. If you look hard you can find lots of sweaters for under $20 each, that is with their black Friday sale. Everything was either a special buy or 50% off. I bought 3 sweaters and with tax they were $51.08 or $17.03 each. What a steal. I know JCPenney's may not be your first choice in Clothing stores, but you should give them a try. They have great deals and really nice sweaters. A few years back I also bought some shorts on sale and a swimsuit. I really need to think of shopping here more often, they fit in my limited budget. read more

Can i get a free bag.?? I was purchasing some earrings and my bag from a previous purchase was breaking and outfit coming out. Upon entering the checkout to purchase the earrings i asked for a large bag to accommodate the previous purchase since the new purchase would be a smaller bag. I asked the cashier if i could have a new bag. She in turn asked I assume the manager who was just standing by in her phone. She shook her head no. The store is definitely dated, and needs some upgrades. Displays of clothing are somewhat confusing and messy, and the dressing room is drab, stuffy, and needs some temperature control (too warm). That being said, on my last visit I found some super comfortable Xersion Ultra-light Tapered pants that are great for lounging around the house, camping, and hiking. I'd been looking for pants like these for a long while, and since they were priced at $35.00, I bought two. Great find! And...I got reward points, which I used on an on-line order later. Depending on the time of day, the service can be great, with little or no wait at the cash register. But I've also stood in line for more than 20 minutes; so I'm careful now to go early. read more

I don't really come to Arden Mall at all, but my sister lives over there so we went right when it opened about 10:10. We were shopping for nieces and nephews in the children's department and the place was a complete mess. I don't know if they clock in at 9:45 and don't have time to organize. This Easter I bought a 14 ct gold chain with diamond pendant and have a 2 year warranty. I lost my receipt somewhere but they have all my information on their side . I hadn't been to a JC Penney in a while, so when my dad needed to find some new shirts, this was the store he wanted to check out first. Since he is elderly and has a hard time getting around, we managed to reserve a wheel chair for him in the mall which was located near the store entrance. He had very specific shirt requests that was becoming a challenge to find not only in his size but certain colors. Also, said shirts had to be short sleeved, have two front pockets and breathable material that wouldn't cause him to overheat. Thanks to a very helpful sales lady, we found a rack of shirts that did contain some of the features he was satisfied with. We ended up making a purchase for two shirts. Our next endeavor was to find a particular pair of shoes that he could slip on and off easily. But they had to be in leather. Unfortunately we were unable to find the shoes he liked. It seems affordable leather wasn't an easy find. All in all, I enjoyed my shopping trip while getting some father/daughter time together. There was a lot of interesting things I wanted to look at. But my dad is not fond of shopping in general, yet still I had a very nice time anyway. I really wanted to explore more of the store for myself, but didn't want to hold him up while he was on a specific mission. Hope to return again real soon! read more

Hand sanitizer available at every counter. The customer service experience at the returns and online orders counter varies. Every time I go, there's only one or two staff there. The first time, the associate was really nice and friendly. This last time I went, they were curt and had an attitude. I won't get into the specifics because I don't want to be identified, but there's a way to inform people about things without making them feel bad. Maybe it was just a bad day. I understand working retail in big departments stores may not be pleasant, but it's unnecessary to take it out on the customers. It makes me reconsider going into the store in the future, if poor treatment over doing a normal return is to be expected. read more

I'm not sure if it's the pandemic, or the fact that people tend to shop online more...but it's not as lively as I remember it. In some departments, they seem to be low on inventory or selections. I received slippers for Christmas...despite the fact that I'm 2 sizes smaller than the listed size. So I went to make a return. The line is literally 20 ppl deep and despite the fact that all 6 other registers that I saw were empty...they were too "short-staffed" to make it at all convenient. Spann vs. JCPenney Settlement SITREP So. This is interesting. I've sporadically bought sports jackets, slacks, ties, etc. etc., over the last 10 years from this JCPenney store. I had no idea there was a class-action suit going on over JCPenney's (JCP) pricing matrix. THE SETUP In a nutshell, JCP has been called out, but to also be blunt - and fair to JCP -,what store chain does NOT engage in these pricing practices, right? This seems to be the underpinnings of MANY marketing ploys we see take shape with stores. = Some hype up the "original retail price" to such ridiculous levels that the "sale price" really only amounts to what the market rate for such an item would be in the first place. = Other chains have their main retail outlets, but also their "Factory Outlets". But often these outlets that are purported to offer major discounts off the name brands are either cheaper in quality, or do not offer those inherent discounts when compared to the main retail outlets. Retail marketing is all a bunch of crap anyways and EVERYONE is guilty to imbalanced pricing at one point or another. The crazy thing is though, why did JCP get outed like this? I'd like to know why THEY are singled out and why there isn't a class-action against the entire Department store industry? But I actually do know why... ATTORNEYS Like lions hunting prey, going for the slow, old and weak, JCP became this easy target. And I guess the attorneys on this class action were able to not only: (1) establish a prima facie argument that this class-action suit had enough evidence to get through the first hurdle, and allowed to be moved on to heard by a trier off fact; but also, (2) able to actually to bring the evidence to bear on JCP that forced them to capitulate and settle. (3) it may be less that what COULD have been won in a trial, but then the trier of fact (whether a judge or a jury) could just as easily say "there's nothing here and we ain't give you plaintiff's anything." (4) hence a settlement allowing both parties to go away / keep away something (5) and IF the settlement if approved by mediating judge on August 25, 2016, the plaintiff's class-action attorneys will get a cooool $13.5 Million. Not bad for a day's work. THE LOWDOWN I *clicked* the option for a store credit, because the values in such class-actions are usually double whatever the cash award amount is per class-member. I have shopped at this store and been a JCPenney card holder for 25+ years. I went there today and did not recognize it! It looked like a low end Ross or Marshall's only with worse customer service. Strike 1) the floors were stuffed with clearance items all asunder with little organization - and I'm talking clearance as if it was a bunch of junk no one would want. It looked to me as though they are getting ready to fold. Strike 2) there were literally only 2 open registers for 3 floors. - normally there are several on each floor. I waited in a LONG line, as did many other customers, to return some items before being told that returns must be done at a specific register in the back (I've returned items at the register as long as I can remember - there was no signage). Strike 3) was told that they changed their return policy from 90 to 60 days back in July (as if I should know this) so they wouldn't take them. Finally a manager came and said she would take them but would only give me the lowest recent price. Also was clear that I had to show my drivers license because they "would only do this for me once". I said fine, but then because one item didn't have the tag they wouldn't take it back, even though I had the receipt. I took the gift card with the pittance they gave for one item and stood in the long line again so I could spend it and never go back again. Obviously will be cancelling my card too... read more

Picked up online order at the Arden Fair store. I had multiple bags and asked for a bag to carry my items in with a handle. The associate told me we are not allowed to give bags for online orders. I am a disabled person and it's hard for me to carry multiple bags without a handle. there were bags right there in front of him to give out and he wouldn't give me one. I went to one of the other checks dance, and they gladly gave me a bag. I will never do another online order at JCPenney's. I am only giving one star because giving zero stars is not an option. I ordered a product for same day pick-up the night before, I called both headquarters and the local store the next morning as I was in the vicinity. I was told that the order was still processing, but there was enough in store and I should get a notice in a couple of hours to pick it up. A couple of hours passed and I heard nothing so I checked the status of my order online and it had been cancelled. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT IT WAS CANCELLED BY THE COMPANY. I later called headquarters who told me they could do nothing as it was an in store pickup, and advised me to speak to a manager at the local store. I called the local store and spoke to Manager Alissa in the kids department. First, Alissa was unable to find my order. Second, she transferred me without asking me first. Third, the place I was transferred put me on hold, and then transferred me again, WITHOUT ASKING ME FIRST. Fourth, after about five minutes of being on wait Zeke answered the phone I explained to him how I was confused as to why I was transferred and how I had experienced the worst customer service during my call and would like to speak to a manager. Zeke was nice. Sadly, he tried to transfer me to a supervisor, and I was left on hold for about hour before I decided no one was going to answer my call. A Ms. Loran, ended up calling me (while I was on hold being transferred WITHOUT MY PERMISSION) and explained my order was cancelled because they could not find my product in store, but they were going to look in their storeroom to see if they had the product. So essentially, they did not even check if they truly were out of stock before cancelling my order. My big take way: the customer service at JCPenney both at Arden and headquarters is terrible, inadequate, and clearly the company should invest in more customer service training for all of their employees except for Zeke, who was the only person I spoke to who apologized. Ultimately, after this experience if given the choice between purchasing something from JCPenney or spending more ANYWHERE else, I would go ANYWHERE else, as JCPenney clearly does not care bout their customers, and I have learned they are not a trustworthy company. I would suggest ANYONE reading this do the same. read more

Not sure this store will exist much longer. Terrible customer service. Makes me not want to give them any business. There were 3 women at the checkout counter at 8:15 pm on a Saturday. It was my turn and two of them left their spots saying they'd be right back. 10 minutes passed and no one showed up. The one remaining woman at the counter could not finish the order of one customer during these ten minutes. There was no communication and no support. Finally I called on a woman named lataiya who was able to finish checkout of two items in no time. I hope JC Penney realizes that keeping customers waiting is a terrible move in this day and age. The hard-working staff in JC Penny's deserve recognition. My brother and I made a visit to the store in Arden Mall on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, at 11:35 AM. When we arrived at the store, we noticed that they were very busy and understaffed. I noticed that there were only 3 ladies trying to assist many customers with no backup in sight. I appreciated the one lady who stopped what she was doing with 1 customer to help us. I believe her name was Erika. I want to sincerely thank her for coming to help us discuss the several cologne options they had after our 15-minute wait for service. She went above and beyond, and we appreciate that. The only suggestion I would make for the store in the future is to provide more testing samples of the cologne. It is difficult to make a decision on which cologne to purchase if you are not able to sample them first. read more

I just did a newborn photo session. I gave Robert a couple of images I found online. He recreated them better than the originals! This studio has great service, fabulous quality photos and low costs (especially with groupon). I'm so glad I found them. It's a blast of fun every time I go. read more

It doesn't show pride in your store when it looks like that- plus it's really hard to find anything when clothes from other sections are piled on top of what you're trying to look at. Their systems are super outdated and the store /employees are so disorganized. The cash register ran out of paper in the middle of printing my receipt so the cashier had to get more paper to do a reprint. Well apparently they also need a store manager just to do a reprint! That is unheard of and never happens at any store. The cashier should just be able to hit reprint. So I had to wait for her manager to come find out she was out of paper, then wait for the manager to go get paper and do a reprint. Then when the manager came back, she had to call someone else to print it remotely...that is so crazy. I waited because the two sets of matching pajamas that I found were really cute and the employee and her manager both apologized multiple times .. but I couldn't believe how disorganized and outdated things were. I know it was Black Friday weekend so a little more chaotic than normal but would have been nice if they were more organized like being stocked with extra supplies. read more
