    New ladies denim department 8/28/12

Have any of you been to JCPenney recently? WOW! It's on the up! First of all, the new pricing policy is great. Three tiers: 1) standard price, 2) month-long specials, 3)markdowns straight to "best price" - so if you see something with the red tag you know that it's the lowest it'll be. And, wow, they are going low. I got my little cousin 5 shirts, 1 skort, and a pair of jeans for $17 2 weeks ago for her birthday. Yes, kids clothes are cheaper than adult clothes in general, but this was just a steal. Last night I found a pair of M-N-G (Mango) jeans for $5. FIVE DOLLARS! And they're doing a total remodel of the store and have already installed a really fashion-forward jeans department featuring Levi's products (which, sadly, have never worked for me - but it's still a well designed department) and a really wonderful, if a bit small, shoe department. Fashion-wise, having lived in Europe for 3 years I can say with confidence that the M-N-G line that Mango is doing for Penney's is sometimes even better than the stuff in their standard stores in the UK and Europe (I kept noticing this on trips to the US). They've also got other designer collaborations and seem to be trying to compete with the fashion-forward nature of Target, etc. while keeping hold on the more traditional department store branding as well. Since moving back to the US in the Spring, I've been shopping more at Penney's that I had in probably the 5 years before I left. This location and the West Towne location are really making great strides.

Within a few days the zipper on the jacket broke. So I went back and bought another jacket. Well yesterday the zipper broke again, I reached out to your corporate office and explained m situation, they told me to go to the store, explain the situation and have the jacket exchanged. So I went into the store, went up to the counter and asked for a manager, a tall white woman with brown hair told me she was the manager. I explained the situation and she told me to go get another jacket and they would exchange it. So I did, when I went back up to the counter she started making up all these excuses why she couldn't exchange it. At this point I told her to use my phone number and look up the 2 different purchases I made for the jacket. She started lying and told me that your HR department cleared all the receipts which I know for a fact is a lie. Then another woman, a hispanic manager came up and humiliated me in front of at least 6 people. She touched the jacket and huffed, well its worn, OBVIOUSLY IT WAS WORN. Then they both refused to give me my receipt OR THE zipper that broke off my jacket. I was almost in tears to I left, I went out to my car and called your office back and the woman said someone would call me back and no one did. This is so far out of line! I don't have a winter jacket now and it's the middle of January in Wisconsin. I want the coat exchanged and these woman need to talked to about how to handle situations like this. THIS IS BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY! Not Rodeo DR ! The way I was treated and left without a winter jacket is appalling.

I have heard they discriminative and unless it's brands they like themselves they don't take them. I dropped off a box of designer name branded clothes. Mind you NEVER worn and in beautiful condition. I expected something back, however when I came back they said nothing was going to be bought due to 'wear and tear' again NOTHING has been worn once and was in MINT condition. The problem here is they said that, however when I looked at what I brought it. They DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT. The clothes were still neatly folded and placed exactly how I dropped it off. So what happened was these little girls didn't look at anything I dropped off, didn't even try. Wasted my time. When I dropped off a box of DESIGNER shoes they gave me a huge attitude again. They made a big deal about me leaving another box. I was met with disrespect and attitude. When I asked about my clothes they laughed and said nothing. So not only was my time wasted. These little girls were rude, disrespectful and undeserving. I wasn't going to bother, however I was told by some people they would take these brands! So I tried. Another note is I actively saw a girl tag and price items from a name brand that were counterfeit and fake. So you people can take fake name brands, but not actual name brands is WILD. From someone who has worked in fashion and knows stitching and quality and proper pricing and who also works at a location similar to this. You lied. You scammed. You wasted my time. You did not look through anything I gave. You are lazy. You are incompetent Most of all uneducated in fashion. Stick to your knock off lulu lemons. . This company is and always will be a joke. It's not even thrifting. I've seen wear and tear and they take that too. You sell over priced rags.
