Bright, well organized, and set up in a way that is just under the claustrophobic threshold (a lot of merchandise jammed into every space but I can still move without knocking into a rack). A couple years this JCP was on a hot streak for me and I was constantly finding inexpensive things I loved and stopping in probably monthly. Trends have changed and I no longer live near the mall so I'm not in as often, but when I do stop it's a pleasant enough experience. The layout has been slightly rearranged recently, shrinking their dress section quite a bit. I used to be able to find some great items but the selection has been at least halved. I also had an issue recently with none of their purses having price tags. There were sale signs up showing the discounts, but I had no idea what was what. I had to take an armful of bags up to the cashier and have them scan them. Not ideal, but this location is still preferable to me over the east side - it just seems to be brighter and in better shape. read more

I had the worst hair cut and hi-lite ever! I had Mary, so unprofessional. She hi- lites hair about half and inch from the scalp ( to get you back earlier) and hasn't a clue how to layer hair. She blabs so much I think she forgets what she's cut and hasn't cut. I would never recommend Mary. I went else where to have them cut my hair properly, and they thought she actually forgot to cut the lower half of my hair! read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but after what I went through at JCPenney, I seriously had to say something. This was hands down one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had. What used to be a decent store has now turned into an unprofessional, poorly managed mess. Let me start with the customer service -- or lack of it. I walked in to return a shirt (tags on, never worn, with the receipt), and the staff acted like I was asking for a kidney. No greeting, no offer to help -- just a bunch of employees standing around talking to each other, looking annoyed that a customer dared to interrupt them. When I finally got someone's attention, she looked at the shirt for two seconds and flat-out said, "We're not taking this back." No reason, no explanation, just a rude tone and attitude. I asked why, and she just shrugged and mumbled something about "policy," then walked away in the middle of me talking. Walked away. I couldn't believe it. Then another guy came over, and instead of helping, he treated me like I was being dramatic for just asking for a reason. Super rude, totally unprofessional, and had a tone like he couldn't care less. I asked to speak to a manager, and of course -- surprise -- "She's not available." I waited 30 minutes, and guess what? Still "not available." They either lied or just didn't care. The store itself was a wreck. Clothes everywhere, nothing organized, fitting rooms piled with random stuff -- it looked like no one there actually worked. The employees were just wandering around or hanging out like it was their living room. Honestly, I walked in expecting a normal shopping trip and left completely disgusted. It's not just that they wouldn't return the shirt -- it's how I was treated like trash for even asking. The people working there couldn't be bothered to even pretend to care. JCPenney used to be reliable, but after this, I'm done. Forever. I don't care how big the sale is -- I'd rather pay full price somewhere else and be treated like a human being. You'll get better service at literally any other store. Hell, I've had more respectful interactions at the DMV. Bottom line: Don't waste your time. JCPenney is a disaster. read more

I had the best experience at the hair salon in west towne. I had Christian as my stylist and he did an amazing job. Was very polite and made sure I got the perfect color and cut. Barbara was amazing as well and helped out. I was just amazed at how they wanted Me to be happy with everything. I have never been happier. read more

I have shopped at JCP my entire adult life. Today was the last time. I tried to return a costume jewelry necklace 2 days after the 60 day window. The manager wouldn't allow it. Had my receipt. Then I had an online order. They gave me one of my two bags. I went back to tell them and the customer service rep accused me of lying only to find the second bag in back. Meanwhile Kohls is across the parking lot who has a great reputation. I hope your store goes dark. read more

This Penney's has the Sephora in store. Which is cool (if a bit odd, since there's a Sephora just up the mall). They also have had extensive remodeling and the store is laid out in a very user-friendly way. On my most recent visit, I was trying to find 4 of a particular item (for my bridesmaids) and they only had 3. The sales clerk was incredibly helpful and did her best to locate another of the item as another JCPenney location. Excellent service. read more

tI must say - I love what JCPenney is evolving to be. I love that they have redesigned their marketing plan and their pricing scheme. All the prices are even numbers - no cents. They are prices I'd be willing to pay in the first place, not after they go on sale. The JCPenney brand is actually cute and I buy a lot of their clothes for work. And despite their new plan, they still have good maintain a good clearance rack. I love this place! This location in particular is pretty good. Not the very best I've seen, but definitely a really good one. Right now they are under construction and are building all sorts of "mini stores" within the store - designer clothing brands, Sephora, a Martha Stewart collection, etc. I don't know how I feel about this - I guess I'll see when it is finished. I like what JCPenney is doing and I encourage ya'll to go out and give it another try if you haven't been in in a few years. :) Definitely kicks Macy's butt. read more

There are super comfy chairs outside the fitting rooms, which is a great place to relax while waiting. I was able to find seats elsewhere in the store as well. This is a review of JC penny's customer service. i went to place an order with JC Penny's and it was to be delivered by Dec.22th. I made one change and the computer said it would not be delivered until Dec. 27th to 29th. I spoke with their very helpful customer service. They obviously don't have any concern for the customer and refused to help me. They could update the shipping for me but even though I have bought many orders this Christmas they do not care if they lose a customer. I always like JC. Penny's but now I am disgusted. I spent a lot of money on previous orders but will have to ship through someone else. read more

No, really, have you been to JCPenney's West Towne lately? Just take the escalator to the home design space. They have completely remodeled the second floor! I thought they were going out of business at Christmas. The staff is still friendly and willing to help you get the best price; the curtain section has fewer choices (due to the space re-design) but the staff is still very knowledgable and aware of options online and the petite department could use some help--synthetics are just not the answer to rising cotton prices. I am not a fan of the shoe department but I like their purses. I got some great deals at Christmas on a coat, scarf, gloves & mittens, and pouches. I picked up several extra $1 pairs of gloves for kids who come to the door in winter and for donation. I guess this store is slowly going through a total remodel--the second floor is really bright... read more

Today I won! Department stores are only allowed to have one pair of 33x34 men's jeans at any given time. Only one, and often they are hidden in a back part of the store only accessible to employees. John in men's department is knowledgeable and helpful. I needed to buy my son a suit for his confirmation and didn't know where to start. John directed us to the suits, measured my son and made a recommendation. He was helping at least four other customers.at the same time and doing a fine job! John gets 5 stars. I love JCP west. I always find what I need and at a good price. The store is well stocked and well lit. I hate shopping in dimly lit stores, it is depressing. JCP is always bright and fun to shop. The prices are good and the selection isn't bad, but the dressing rooms are disgusting to the point that I didn't want to hang up my clothes in there. There was half-eaten candy on the floor, the dressing room doors were black in areas, and the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a week. Besides that, it was difficult to find help and the representatives that we did ask were very short, not really saying much in the way of helpfulness. read more

I shop a lot online and pick up in store. I love having that option. The product I get is usually great quality. However, it's frustrating picking up packages that you ordered. Most of the time the employees act like they have no idea what I am talking about. Even though I provide that I received a phone call, and email that my order was complete. Also, even though I provided my phone number AND the order number..it was still hard to locate my packages. Then I was asked what exactly I had ordered..I responded.. " I don't know..clothing?" and they said..what kind of clothing!!! This order was placed weeks ago so it was hard to remember since I spend so much there. I shop at JCP West Towne quite often. They have fantastic prices, lower prices on identical items people pay more for at Kohls. I guess people just don't look or shop around for the best price. The quality of clothing is excellent. For men they have an entire wall of jeans so you'll be able to find what you want. Also, Stafford products for men are fantastic-great quality. I do think JCP has an image problem and if they can overcome that their business would increase. I think they need to have a couple more check out areas. I also don't understand why they have the online merchandise pick up desk on the second floor!! They should make on-line order pickup as easy as they can, it's the way of the future. Move the photograph studio elsewhere in the store and put in a drive up for online sales pickup or offer free shipping and free returns. Also, they have recently closed almost all the fitting rooms for women. You wander around the store looking for a fitting room-very frustrating.
