It delivered a day before my event and it ended up being the wrong color, despite the worker confirming the color with me before. I didn't have time to get a new dress, so I had to wear a color that did not match with my boyfriend's tux. I called to complain about my issues and they refused to give me any kind of compensation or offer a partial refund for all the issues on their end unless I came to Madison to return the dress, when I live in Milwaukee. Very disappointed in my Von Maur experience. Update 7/21: Von Maur offered to send me a new dress at no extra cost in the correct color! I appreciate customer service taking the time to fix the issue.

Nordstrom Rack is a great place to go and find what the store Nordstrom offers but at semi…read morediscounted prices. I think it's important to note that when you go in here, you're not gonna find really cheap prices. The prices are still up there. They're just a little bit less than you will find in the actually Nordstrom store and/or Nordstrom online. For me, the main reason I like Nordstrom Rack is their selection of shoes. They have a really big selection of shoes, particularly tennis shoes. They truly have a large amount of all of the name brands. And again, at semi discounted price prices. They're not cheap, but they are below what you would have to pay at the regular Nordstrom stores or most other sporting goods retailers. In terms of clothing, they have a lot of it. They have both a large selection of men and women's clothing. It's truly a vast amount. I don't usually find clothes that catch my eye at this store, but my wife always seems to find something. So, that may let you know of the mindset of the people who shop here. For men, they have a nice selection of suits, sport coats, slacks, and dress shirts. But, they're not exceptionally good deals. Personally, I prefer to go into a shop that is more devoted to those things when I buy such items. For my wife, however, she commonly finds nice dresses, tops, and also, shoes. She too, is a big fan of their shoe department. The one thing I will say is that if you want to get a nice pair of Doc Martens, this is a great place to buy them. They seem to discount Doc Martin's more than they do their other name brand shoes. This is just something to think about. Overall, if you want some high-end clothing, and/or shoes, and/or jewelry, and/or a little bit of anything else that Norstrom offers, this is a good place to purchase it.

I went to the dressing room and the attendant asking me how many items I had, I told them, and they stopped and made me let them count and leave the pack of socks I was carrying on the counter. Someone else took the socks while I was in the room. Next, I wanted some cologne. Took awhile to find someone to open the lock box where they keep it, and they looked at me like I wasn't making sense when I asked for cologne. When I tried to carry it up to go check out, they snatched it out of my hand and carried it straight to the register. Just a bit odd to treat paying customers like they're expecting you to rob them. It will probably make me stick to ordering from the online store in the future.

She helped me check out several options, and then several days later, emailed me a photo of another dress that came to the shop that I might want to consider. That's what I call going above and beyond! The shop is full of hip, reasonably-priced women's clothing that you might see in NYC or LA. It's the perfect place to pick up a gift for a girlfriend, with lots of cool jewelry, handbags and accessories. Much of the jewelry is locally made. Be sure to check out the kid clothing and toys upstairs. My brother and sister in law traveled from Chicago for a visit, and swung by the Goose for a gift for my daughter - they also were very impressed with this fun, hip shop and my daughter loves the wooden toy pizza they gave her. The Purple Goose also is committed to giving back to the community - another great quality.

When we entered the store a woman yelled across the counter, "those items have to be left on the counter!" We then moved to look at the jewelry, as we walked past crowded racks, and tiny aisles. My friend asked about some pearls in the cases. The owner and her associate couldn't be bothered to help us. The store condition has declined so much this past year and I'm not sure we will return. For their high prices, the store is in considerable disarray. We chiefly go to look at shoes, and it has been consistently an absolute mess in the shoe section, with high price tags for cheap merchandise that is scattered and strewn about. You have to step over open boxes, sizes are not in the correct place, and I've never seen an employee in the shoe section. This past week, we went to look at dresses and there was no signage and very limited availability of any formal dresses for plus size women -- and this is Wisconsin... We went to the "Last Chance" upstairs clearance section and it was worse than the shoe section. Tripping hazards on the floor, items strewn about and disorganized, shelves looked like they'd been looted. This seems to be a store wide problem and we just left without buying anything.
