I tried calling this location 3 times, the operator and the men's department but no one answered. This was an hour after they opened. It's JC Penny on a weekday morning so I know they are not busy. I wanted to do an exchange since it's been under 60 days and I have the receipt. The items are in new condition but no tags. I know they can easily put new tags on since it requires no skill at all. 1 star for poor customer service. Better off going to Kohl's. read more

My husband and I were at Yorktown Center and stopped into the JCPenny. I'm always looking for a bargain and immediately went to the clearance area. I was surprised by the prices that I saw. They were very expensive and the items that were cheaper were very low quality. Our friend saw some shorts that he liked and he did buy them. I did like how helpful the signage was. It led us right to the bathrooms, but it was not helpful when trying to find the checkout. I cannot recommend JCPenny. read more

I just started this experience with reviews. I felt compelled to share my experience with this store. Even though the store was extremely busy. A sales associate took the time to assist me replacing some desperately needed items. Items that were in my "temporarily unlocated" luggage (the airline's terminology). Having relieved the stress of showing up to a business meeting looking like I just left the fitness center. I am grateful. They even had the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever worn. JC Penney - a true classic department store. Located in the Yorktown Mall, near Von Maur, it is easy to find. Parking was plentiful too. Today I stopped into this suburban location to take care of a Christmas gift return. It could not have been any easier. The line was short and moved quickly. There are three areas. One for pick ups, one for returns and one for purchases. Dee was the sweetest, kindest woman. She assisted me easily and efficiently. She made small talk and was very pleasant. While I was there, I thought I would take a spin around both floors of the store. Everything was.organized so nicely. All departments from housewares, to mattresses, to luggage, to adult and children's clothing, to accessories looked so nice. There are a ton of sales in all departments. The store offers so many things, in addition to retail, there is a hair salon, optometry store, a photo/portrait studio. The wonderful customer service, wide variety of merchandise and great price points makes this a front runner option. read more

This JC Penny location has horrible customer service. They close at 8pm and by 7:45 they start rushing everyone out of the store and the manager a big lady with glasses they called Renee was so rude to everyone. People were walking in from the mall and she was rudely telling them they were closing. She was agitated and bothered by all the customers patiently waiting. She kept stopping the line to run to the paging system to announce the closing time. A nice man called me to the register I had one item, a dress, when I went to pay the card reader didnt work so he called Renee over and she was so angry off the bat she starts saying WE NEED A SIGN THAT SAYS NO DEBIT CARDS and I said this isnt a debit card its credit and she starts raising her voice saying she knows thats what shes saying so I said keep your stuff I dont want it and she continues to argue with me. Ive never had a bad experience at JC Penny you need to find better help because I can guarantee you are losing business with people like Renee managing your stores. She was treating all customers and employees terrible. A normal person would have apologized for the register malfunction and asked customers to step to another register, not yell at me like it's my fault the register isn't working. read more

The 2 stars are for the good clearance & sale offers at this store. The store is neat. I like that their are shopping baskets too. My complaint is about an employee there. Usually the employees are nice & friendly. But sad to say the lady I had that day was a jerk! She was not friendly & had a bad attitude. Get another job if you don't want to work there. I am a very pleasant & easy going friendly lady. When I paid she asked me if she was missing something? I asked her what she meant? I was short a penny! I thought I gave her the exact price for what I paid. I had more $ but a penny? I asked her if she had a extra penny around. Usually the clerks do have a penny nearby! She said NO!. She acted as if I asked her to pay for my purchases! So, I told her I will take all of this almost paid for $$ & now have to give her 2 larger bills. So, she got stuck giving me a bunch of change etc. Oh & there was a couple of pennys there too! What a fool! I worked at stores & know sometimes you can be a penny off or over. I honestly had not been in a JCpenny store for years,but my love and I were on a mission and went to no less than 10 stores at Yorktown Mall. This location had LOTS of clearance items and not just the end of Summer bathing suits.I saw plenty of and Winter items and a nice variety of household items and workout gear on clearance. The men's clearance section surprised me because it had more items than most stores. I always shop clearance 1st and this location did not disappoint. I saw a lot of nice priced jewelry that I plan to go back and get. The shoe section wasn't anything special,but there was a decent amount of sneakers and dress shoes. read more

Terri S. cut my hair for the first time, and I couldn't be happier! I liked my previous stylist at a different salon, but he just wasn't able to give me the even cut along the bottom that I ask for; I kept getting hairs of different lengths that made it impossible to blow dry and get the look I wanted. Terri at JCPenney listened to me, and told me I wanted an undercut classic bob. It is so perfect! Not only did it look fabulous after she cut and blow-dried it, but I've done it twice myself, and it's so easy. I blow dry it using the round brush to curl the ends under, and it looks fabulous. No longer do I have to do that and then use the curling iron to try to get stubborn hairs to curl under, like I did with previous cuts. Terri was a joy to visit with on top of being a superb stylist. I called jcpenny com where I was told that I had to call the store for refund. After 4 ineffective calls, I finally had someone tell me that I would have to visit the store to get a refund. I drove out to Penney"s today to return some items. I would normally return via mail, but I thought that I could exchange one size for another right at the return counter. I was wrong. I still had to order online again. Since I used a gift card for my order, I received a merchandise gift card for my returned items. No problem because I was assured that I could use it online. Long story short, there was nowhere to enter a gift card online. I called customer service and was told that you can't use a merchandise credit gift card online. I was given the wrong info in the store. The only way that I could use this gif card is at the store. I have back and foot issues. Walking around a store is painful. This is why I shop online. Not only that, but the nearest Penney's is 15 miles away and includes tolls. I'm really disappointed in Penney's . After 15 minutes of wondering where she went we dragged the bed frame to the register ourselves... yes my mom and I, 2 women, dragged it because of how heavy it was by ourselves. When we got the register she had NO idea what she was doing and was scanning the display case. Installer comes out hang them up they're all wrinkled they are on a traverse rod so they have the three prong clips at the top. installer tells me that steaming the drapes to get the wrinkles out is extra charge. I opted not to have them steamed on principle. To this day months later they look like shit. Plus I purchased a $400 rod and they sent me the wrong one. How would I know it was in a box the installer couldn't do his job because I had to re-order the proper rod for him to do the installation. I was shopping at the JCP at the Yorktown mall in Lombard, IL on December 12, 2021. I walked over to an employee to ask for assistance. The lady, now known as Barbara, the "assistant manager" (which she threw in my face) never greeted me or gave me eye contact...and seemed bothered as she asked me ,"what do you need"...all while never stopping what she was doing..to the point where she left me standing in the middle of the floor...I stood there shocked...but thinking ok, maybe once she walks back she will assist me. Nope. Barbara walked right pass me as if she did not see me. At that point I walked away...shocked & embarrassed by the way I was treated...I was going to look for the store manager, however, I decided to walk back to let her know that her behavior was very unprofessional and in my head racist. I told her that I was going to ask for the store manager, however, she perked up, cut me off and said that SHE was the ASSISTANT MANAGER! as if to mock me...I walked away again in shock & went bk to ask her her name so I could call corporate to let them know how their "assistant managers" treat their customers. I kindly asked her name & again not turning to acknowledge me, she blurted out Barbara! I went straight to my car to call corporate..that is how upset I was...over 20 min later & 2 different ppl, I was told I would get a follow up call back from upper management within 24-48 hours later...well, today is Dec 22..and I have yet to hear back from a manager as told. I decided to reach out on Instagram 4-5 days later & was told to send a DM, which I did...you guesses it crickets! Have not heard bk from anyone about the way I was treated. I guess JCP upholds RACIST behavior and treatment to customers. I will never spend another dime in JCP you cant even GIVE me anything! Although this is my go-to store for clothes, shoes & home linens, makeup & jewelry, (and my husband has purchased more suits & dress shirts here than any other store), I am more than disappointed that for the Nth time the Jewelry department has no batteries for my watches. Not only did I wait a long time to talk to someone, that clerk wouldn't even apologize and readily dismissed me. She was busy; but really friendly. She was alone at the register; but kept her cool. She pointed out a great "2-fer" on the product I had in my hand, and I got a great price on a new glam flat iron. I was there to buy a new wardrobe for a new job. Picked out a bunch of items and went to the checkout. NURLETTE was the associate that was cashiering. Clearly she does not enjoy her job. She was rude and inconsiderate. Did not even try to fold the clothes as they were bagged I was pulling up a coupon that was texted to me, and all of 5 seconds into it, she loudly said that I was holding up her line. I looked at her and said I was pulling up the 20% off coupon. She said "well, you are holding up my line". I then told her that I wouldn't want to hold up her line (all of 1 person behind me) and told her I wouldn't even make the purchase today. She said she didn't care, and laughed as we walked away. She cost jc Penney a $200 sale, and I will never go back to that store. My advice- Get rid of this woman. She is costing you $$. No wonder people are buying online instead of in stores. read more

I have had my hair cut here once about eight weeks ago. It was a decent cut and since it was time for a trim, I made an appointment for 2:30 today. I arrived about ten minutes early and checked in at the desk and sat down so that I could look through some style ideas. I found a picture of a cut I liked and waited for my stylist to call me back. When my appointed time rolled around and I hadn't been called it was no big deal since I know things can run a little late on a Saturday. At ten minutes after my appointed time I was getting a little annoyed, but figured "any minute now"... At fifteen minutes after my appointment time I gave it up. Now, I understand that things can run behind, but I have NEVER been in a salon where the stylist runs that late and no one approaches the client and expalins the reason for the delay. It is inexcusable to me that a hair stylist would have so little regard for my time and I will never give Lillia or Penneys the chance to waste it again. read more

I was a junior/senior in high school and hadn't noticed yet that wearing clothes from JCPenney announced to everyone that I was a junior/senior in high school. They've really nailed the silly high school look in their juniors department. After taking a few years off from this store, my return was a bit shocking. What brought me back was a need for leggings. I have very kind friends and family who never keep an eye on my leg fat like a pair of leggings. Leggings are comfortable but will never fail at pointing out every ounce of weight gained. But no need for such abuse from the leggings that I couldn't fine, I felt like JCPenney punched me in the face and made me face the reality of my puerile adolescent past in fashion. Is this really what I looked like back then?? I still think this store has taken a severe nose dive. My body resembles the size and shape of an 8 year old boy, so juniors is my designated department. Man, you can practically feel the tumbleweeds in this store. I used to love JCP. It was my go-to clothing and home store. We even registered there for my wedding. I felt like I consistently got good values there, and the petite section was fantastic. Ever since they changed their pricing strategy to this whole no-sale, no-coupon model, I've limited my shopping there. The products have changed along with the service. The stores are generally empty and the petite stuff is now targeted for a much older crowd. Just because I'm short doesn't mean I'm also collecting social security, JCP. I went in and got three pairs of running pants for $35. I had it shipped to this store and wandered around before getting someone to help me. I then had to wait for them to bring me my order. I love going to JCPenny! Reasons why? 1. You can use their coupons on clearance items! Once I bought a pair of black peeptoe pumps for $20 because they let me use the $10 off any purchase! 2. You can use their coupons multiple of times. I recently bought a 30 piece glassware for $15.99 and a 4 piece margarita glassware for $7.99 and each price had 20% off! 3. Often times you don't even have to bring in the coupon. As long as you know what coupon they have available and you bring it up to the cashier they'll most likely will give you the discount. Also JCPenny always provides in-store ads that has the coupons in them! 4. The associates are friendly and extremely helpful! Before my 21st birthday I was going crazy trying to find the perfect dress for my celebration and I found this gorgeous black and white dress and the associate was so helpful in giving me her honest opinion (at least I thought she was being honest!) and I told her I'm wearing it for my 21st birthday and she was kind enough to give me $10 off my dress so I got the dress for around $20! This is a great salon. Everyone is trained and experienced, and the atmosphere is pretty cool and casual. My only advice is to not go on Saturdays (or at least not just walk-in, call and make an appointment first). I've been to both Laura's and they are super nice and both do great jobs. Laura S. is very entertaining and talks a lot and made me feel very comfortable. Laura F. did a better cut, however, and taught me a lot about my hair and how to take care of it properly, and she showed me how to style it like she did. DO NOT GO TO JENNA. She's crazy. After some of the previous negative reviews, I didn't know what to expect from JCP. First of all, the set up of store is different than I remembered. Someone mentioned the furniture and large appliances depts. are no longer available. At any rate, I made my catalog exchanges there and the young man who processed my return couldn't have been nicer or more polite. We proceeded onward to try and purchase a new mattress for my granddaughter. ALEX & NICOLE in that area were awesome..Alex was very helpful in navigating us thru the different styles and firmness levels of mattresses..Alex was quite knowledgeable & answered all of our questions. The ordering process was handled by both Alex and Nicole...you get more info on delivery, the mattress itself and a service packet when you buy in store. I order ALOT online but if you're buying a mattress, you MUST try it out and imho you gotta go in person. it was far easier for them to order it and give us " the scoop" on delivery service and all the answers to our "What happens ifs...." This review is based on my most recent experience at the Portrait Studio. The photographer we had was rude from the moment we got there. I will admit we were 10 mins late but if you are working with kids you need to understand most parents have a hard time getting somewhere on time. Also she made it very clear that she had been let go early and was none to pleased that I was late and was not helpful in getting my daughter to smile. she barked orders at me and rushed me to make a new appointment when my daughter started crying. Needless to say I did not feel like they even cared that I was having my daughters 1st birthday pictures and made it seem insignificant. When I returned for a redo shoot I was only 1 min late(due to a poorly plowed parking lot) and she told me I was 12 mins late when I showed her my phone time she acted as if it didn't mean a thing. She then once again barked orders rushed through my appointment and cut it short then pushed some other new girl on to showing me my photos. After my appointment I heard her loud disapproving voice telling some other lady that she was late and only had 2 mins to get her family situated. Not something you should be hearing while waiting for your photos. I will not be returning as this service and treatment of customers was beyond terrible. Such a Shame as my first 2 experiences here were amazing and the customer service has just gone down since. read more

This review is for the JC Penney "portrait studio" in Yorktown Mall. I wasn't actually in HERE, but was "part of the chaos" as directly across the hallway, I was at the vision center. This was on November 15, 2014: - Place was a ZOO. Lines OUT THE DOOR. Just looked understaffed and unorganized. People standing around with disgusted looks on their faces. - Caught wind of some kind of an argument between two mothers, both of whom appeared to be in their 30s, dressed up, with their families dressed up. From what I could hear, the argument was about who was or wasn't in line, and who "was waiting first" - obviously due to dis-organization. Where was the staff to help calm/organize the situation and keep the peace? - Small kids - while waiting - playing around and jumping on the furniture and beds. This section is about 30 feet away. Uncalled for. - Lastly, I noticed a few mothers taking pics of their kids (dressed up) while having them sitting and laying on the store model beds! This was probably during the boredom during their wait in line where they decided, "hell, I'll just snap some of our own pics". Again, even if you mean no harm - inappropriate. Not sure why this place seemed overly crowded - perhaps people are getting Christmas or Holiday pictures for certain outgoing Christmas cards or family portraits for 2014. Whatever the case - just seemed catastrophic, and many people seemed on edge...and it's only mid November. Should I ever need photos, I know NOT to come to this location around November or December. read more
