My friends and I were looking for a fun Sunday activity and this is where we found ourselves--at the JCPenney Portrait Studio. Firstly, I have to commend how easy it was to book an appointment within 24 hours notice. Secondly, we arrived a few mins late and as we were running down the hall--the photographer/front desk assured us she could fit in our session! By the way, by photographer/front desk--I really mean this, it was a one woman shop and she was running it entirely on her own. 10/10 service, and you can tell she was just a veteran from how she handled all of her appointments, while making sure to take the time and effort to get great photos. She really listened to us, provided good recommendations and poses, and even suggested some props. We were so impressed by her effort, and truly she deserves recognition! The photo session was a bit more expensive than we expected to be honest, even with coupons. We ended up just getting the digital album, as the fees associated with printing/shipping and all were so high. But the experience was really wonderful, and so was the photographer! read more

As for the guys go, particularly the big guys, you really can't beat what I've seen here today. Whether it be the big and tall section, or the clearance section (both on the second floor) there are ton of great product to choose from-including some fairly well-known brands such Polo and others. Dress coats and pants are going for as little as $40 in some cases! JC Penney sucks!!! do not but anything from them. I purchased a mattress online and wanted to return it due to it sagging in the middle after about a month. They wanted $175 for restocking and pickup fees for a defective mattress! They also require the fees paid up front in addition to what I already paid for the mattress! I always find something to buy at JCPenney! There's always a great variety of items on sale, and everything seems clean, even though there's a bit of a scruffy vibe for some reason. Maybe the lighting, maybe the floors. LThe store is conveniently located inside a shopping mall with plenty of free parking, which is a big plus. I've even had the same cashier help me twice -- super friendly and consistent service! And I was able to go in with my dogs, which makes the shopping experience even better. read more

Good sales, clean and organized. Only one island of registers per floor but long lines move rather quickly. Service is always good and professional. The women's clothing section as I don't prefer super trendy stuff. Handbag section is not good anymore, with bland designs. For a holiday shoe sale I'd expect more than $10 off for Easy Spirits. But I come here for great jewelry deals and selection. It's early December. Almost all of the jewelry is at least 40% off (plus an extra 30% online coupon) compared to Macy's where overly marked up jewelry is 25% off. Just as good quality and cuter Christmas jewelry. I like Monet and Liz Claiborne the best. Hard not to buy some things for myself (I know what I like best!) as I gift shop. When parking is hard to find, go to eastern side of JCP adjacent to Hannum Ave. Except for shoes, I'd say there are great sales throughout the store. read more

This review is for the salon. I've been here before, and the service was decent. This time it was horrible. The "Master stylist" charged me almost $70 to detangle my daughter's hair, after she washed and conditioned it. Absolutely ridiculous! That's her job and my daughter's hair is not in bad condition. She also flat ironed it on heat that was too high and my daughter's hair is damaged. Months later, some of her curls still have not returned. read more

I recently went was in J C Penny's, Culver City in the Westfield Mall, I was walking around looking for something for my aunt, when all of a sudden a woman name Kendra addressed me and asked did I find everything alright, I knew that she was important because she was impeccably put together, I said I was just looking, but I must say that because of Kendra's exceptional customer service, I ened up making a purchase and fell in love with J C Penny's. Staff people only do refunds depending how you look like. I choose one star,because if not I couldn't post anything. Here I go . I got a Levi's jeans on December 9th,second floor ,by the register of the entrance . Unfortunately;jeans wouldn't fit on me after the purchase ,why? I don't know . I forgot to keep my receipt and the tags on the jeans. Then ;I went back to the store on December the 29th. . One of the employees of the return section said 'no tags no receipt ,no refund ' . Okay . I called the costumer service line ;somebody give me the 'corporate number ' . I call that number ;an agent told me that no matter what ;I should to be able to return the jeans . I asked to confirm with somebody else ,she did it saying that a supervisor told her that the store should to give me the refund and reply saying 'I don't want to go back inside and try again ,what was so weird is when she said 'why you don't try with somebody else '? I was like 'what'?. I went back to the store (second time ) I found the cashier guy who sell me those jeans ,he was trying to be help calling somebody to reprint me a receipt . Teresa showed up asking why I need the receipt for . I said because I want to return the jeans . Immediately she said 'no,we don't accept returns on jeans ,specially Levi's ,because is a nation wide brand and those jeans could it be from another store ' Seriously?? Telling her that I have my proof of purchase and the day /time that I pay for those and she can look at the cameras. She said that the cameras are only for a police report . Okay .... At the end ,she won't give me the receipt saying that I have to contact costumer service again and make them create a case number in order to get my refund . I just couldn't believe this . Calling the costumer service Depto AGAIN Edgar pick up my phone call and he couldn't believe it either ,he created a case number and supposedly 'escalate ' this issue to corporate . Then ;In two days costumer service or escalate Depto calling me back ,right now is at least 4 days and nothing. I'm just amaze by the way that I been treated at that store . To me ;this was some form of discrimination at some point ,would be another kind of person ,those employees will take the time to find that receipt and accept the return. I can't believe that also JCPenney has a way to 'speed ' your complaint. YES ! Paying 9 usd they can put your complaint as a priority to contact you in less than 3 days ,if that is not happening ,they will refund you the money . What a great service ! Paying to be heard ! JCPENNEY'S was one of my favorite stores as a child and a mother. We spent many school shopping days, yearly family picture days, and holidays shopping days at JCP. Recently, I have noticed a change in service. Sadly, the Return/Pickup Department does not provide the service of the past. Online there is no option to provide an alternate person to pickup your items. I watched one customer calling for his wife to verify the order number. He had his wife's identification and credit card. There was a long line behind him. That's just what I observed. My complaint is why isn't this department store updated to provide for alternate persons for pickup? Why isn't this department store able to scan the confirmation email from a cellphone? Why in 2021, do we have to print a hard copy? Why does a customer have to provide a actual credit card as identification, isn't my confirmation email good enough? This is outdated, sad, and time consuming. Maybe, it's nostalgic, but I know this company is capable of providing quality customer service. read more

Me personally I don't do malls but a friend of mine needed me to take her to do a pickup that she ordered online. She stated that she was a bit annoyed because when a pickup order arrives as a customer you're supposed to receive either an email or call to let you know that the pickup is ready. She didn't receive either which is very unprofessional. She was told over the phone though, that her order was in. When we arrived Kenny (At least that's what she told us her name was and she wore an animated cartoon button on her shirt) looked up the item and also went in the back to search for it but said that the order was canceled. My friend is up in age and so she can't afford the runaround that this location has given her. It frustrated her very much because due to her being limited and getting out that's why she orders online. This JCPenny was so refreshingly nice. I was very surprised bc last time I went to one, it was like digging thru a garage sale. Everything here was so perfectly arranged and even tho fitting rooms weren't run by staff, there was always someone helping out w take backs so they didn't pile up. Staff was very diverse and friendly overall and the story was very busy bc it's Mother's Day weekend. I actually spent hours there today trying things on. It was so easy to find my size (16) and quality and selection were also beyond expectations. I bought so many things that I opened up a credit card for the discount. I was literally shocked at the total. Afterwards I went to Macys and the clothing section was a complete mess in comparison. Good for you, JCPenney Westfield Culver. I ordered an adjustable bed (Serta Motion Comfort II) and plush mattress. They delivered the incorrect adjustable bed (Serta Motion Comfort III - see photo) and a firm mattress on 12/9/17. While the delivery personnel were still here, I spoke with JCP customer Service who told me it was my fault and I would be charged a restocking fee if I wanted to return it. Once that ridiculous concept was resolved, only because the delivery personnel told them I was not lying about it being the incorrect bed and mattress, they had me purchase and pay for the items again and left the incorrect items in my home, stating they would pick them up when the correct items were delivered. Also promising a prompt refund when the incorrect items were picked up on 12/18/17. Of course, the delivery personnel had not been made aware they were picking up a return and the items were now going to be categorized as an unexpected return. After a couple phone calls to customer service, who could not understand what was going on, I have still not received my refund from the first order, picked up (returned) on 12/18/17. Because I need to wait until 1/3/18 to dispute the charge with my credit card company, I figured I would vent my frustration about my experience on Yelp. On the bright side, they did provide me with a discount on my second order for their mistake on the first. Now I wait for my refund to show up on my credit card, with today being day 10 since they picked up the merchandise. read more

I hope someone actually got away and stoled because it wasn't me and sister . lol me and my sister was in line paying for our items and a young girl that works at Jc penny was fake organizing clothes, while looking at me and my sister while we were in line. It was ridiculous. Watching the wrong ppl I hope the real thieves got away . It is not okay to discriminate because you look silly . Taking your job too serious . Great merciful crap. I don't even know where to begin expressing the train wreck that IS this JCPenney location. First of all, not being a JCPenney shopper per se, I'm perhaps not accustomed to certain features of the JCPenney experience, so I'm attempting to take the morning with a grain of salt. That being said, I think a few shots of high-grade tequila accompanying the aforementioned salt would likely serve me better to get over the emotional trauma of shopping at this store. Parking: Nightmarish. Huge lot, nobody can drive. Two people almost backed into me, there were five cluster****s of cars trying to all go in different directions while one car vacated a spot and another fought an imaginary foe for the spot. I was starting to think that an IQ test requirement of the drivers license test made a lot of sense. Finally got a spot and walked into the store, almost being run over twice crossing the lot on foot. Layout: Confusing, to say the least. Signs pointed in random directions that didn't actually appear to be at all correlated to the location of merchandise. Prime example: Sign read men's room and pointed forward. To a customer service station and a ladies clothing department. After walking through the area for five minutes, unable to locate a men's room or an employee willing to point us in the right direction, we were told that the forward-pointing arrow actually implied that you were to walk forward, then in a half-circle around the customer service desk, into the elevators, up a flight, then out the elevators, down the hallway straight ahead, and to the right, down another hallway by another cashier station. Seriously. Customer Service: Walking past a line of people while attempting to find the aforementioned hidden men's room, a woman was talking to her friend BEHIND HER while walking forward, and almost ran us over. She realized this when inches from plowing us over, and we dodged her elbow so it didn't hit us each across the chest. A cashier looked at us, at her, made eye contact with her, and said "Well, I guess that they don't know how to say EXCUSE ME where they come from...". Very nice assumption that it was our rudeness and not the other customer's absentmindedness that was at fault. Also very passive-aggressive to speak badly about one customer (or two) to another, within earshot. If I wasn't in a hurry, I'd have asked to speak to her manager and teach her a lesson about how you're NOT allowed to speak to your customers. But we were rushing (to find the bathroom) and couldn't be bothered. Speed: Waited in line ten minutes for three people in front of us. Pretty sure that at least one of them cut in line ahead of us. Then when we got there, something rang up $20 high and they wanted us to go back upstairs to that department to sort it out. Forget it. Abandoned the item at that point. Cleanliness: The men's room that's a repeated theme... when we finally found it, my bf went in, was back out in ten seconds making a face. Said that it was flooded, that it was mostly urine, and that he's pretty sure that he saw some feces as well. He bolted. Literally ducked out and walked into the mall to find a men's room that was suitable. Walking out of JCPenney a few minutes later, he literally splashed in a puddle because he said "I'm horrified to walk into your apartment with these shoes on, now..." and he meant it. That bad. We told an employee about it and she literally shrugged. Really, if she said "I just don't give a ****" it wouldn't have been any more clear that's what she meant. So basically... people try to kill you in the parking lot... the cashiers sass off to you and speak badly about you within earshot, the signs point you to nowhere in particular, there's human waste on the floor, and the employees don't care. I went to the JCPenny in Westfield Culver City Mall on a Wednesday afternoon and noticed that it was very clean and organized. They had a lot of clearance items for sale and everything looked put together well. The one downside to this location was that there was not many associates on the store floor. It is a good place to go if you want to shop around but probably not a good idea if you are in a rush. However, based on appearance and the amount of products available, they are a good option if you are nearby. read more

This is the WORST experience I have ever had getting hair done! First, I called a few days ago to set an appointment for my daughter and myself for Saturday. I was told $60 for a press n curl and $15 for deep condition. On Friday, they called my mom to confirm my appointment. My mom and I have different phone numbers and last names. I never mentioned my mom when I set up the appointment. She has made an appointment for my daughter before, yet and still, there was an appointment for her and I. I never received a phone call. Today, I called to cancel my appointment and to let them know my daughter was running late. When we got there (@ 12:30) the hairstylist said it would take about 2 hours. After 2 hours, I come back and she is shampooing my daughter's hair!! What the heck did you do for the past 2 hours?!?! So I wait... And wait... And wait... Two more hours pass and my daughter is FINALLY ready. Her hair is just flat ironed...no curls whatsoever. I go to pay and they tell me it is $75. I asked why $70 and not $60. She said that was for the deep condition. No one asked if I wanted the extra condition. Just assumed. Then she had the nerve to ask if I wanted to leave a tip! Yes...my tip is on Yelp. I could've gotten individuals for the same time and money...and it would last longer! Soo dissatisfied. Will NEVER go here again and will tell EVERYONE not to go. Today; I have been standing in line for 20 minutes and the cashiers at order pick-up have been assisting the same two people that were up there when I got in line! 20 minutes and the line has not moved. This review is for the salon department. I'm not one of those women who has to pay a fortune to go to a Beverly Hills salon. I'm not that high maintenance. So a simple long layered cut is all I was looking for. So when I found out that JCP had a salon, I was pretty excited plus it's near my house. I arrived at the salon and I was taken right away by Norma who was to be my stylist. She was very friendly and worked really hard to get my cut just right. She also did a little bit of styling at the end to make sure the hair was falling how it should. Paid a lot of attention to the detail. I'm very happy with my cut. Their customer service team told me they're not sure what happened to my order and that they had to cancel my first order to reorder another pair earrings that will definitely ship on time, allegedly. When purchasing the second pair, I was not charged for shipping due to the inconvenience of the month-long delay with my order. Today, JC Penney shipped the first order that did charge me for shipping cost and was supposedly uncalled for and lost, but is now en route to my home which means the second pair will also ship and now I am being charged double in what seems to be a fraudulent act on JC Penney's customer service team's behalf. read more

Not sure how this even gets 2.5 stars. Customer service is the "WORST" I've seen. We went to Fox Hills Mall last week, walked passed JC to get to the food court from the parking lot. Came across a top that was really cute and I planned to buy two. There were 2 circular customer service counters on the G floor. One was closed that Friday [Jan 26] around 2pm. So we had to check out at the one closer at the store entrance from the Mall. Long line and really slow service! I wanted to leave but we decided to stay and wait to pay for the two tops! One young lady drove 45 minutes to this store to return something. We were behind her in the line so we witnessed the whole thing! The girls at check out counter told her they couldn't help her after her waiting in line for almost half an hour. Then they called in a supervisor or some sort... it was a "he" walking around with bags carrying across his back. He came by told the girl the manager wasn't there, wouldn't come in until the following Monday. Then he just walked away! That poor young girl customer stood there not knowing if he was finding extra help or that was the end. After standing there for about 10 minutes, she just left. We dropped the two tops and decided NOT to give a dime to this horrible store! We will never buy anything in this JC. I rarely buy anything from Penny, now I know why! Will NOT recommend it. I always stop by the Tesla Superchargers ~ to charge up my Model X. Last week, my wife saw several nice blouses she wanted to purchase, so we went ahead and TRIED to complete a transaction. Here's what happened: 1. FIRST, almost all of their "Customer Service" counters were closed. We walked around the store for 5 minutes and finally found one place to take our money. 2. Ah ~ but there was a small problem! 25 people were in line, and we waited for well over 15 minutes, with the line barely moving. 3. Finally ~ we just gave up. The "Service" was beyond HORRIBLE, and we just left the merchandise and walked out. Based on this experience ~ I can assure you we'll never shop at JCP again. Amazon is 1000% easier [and usually, much cheaper]. I'm sure we'll see JCP close most of their stores [just like most other brick and mortar retailers]. Their "SERVICE" sucks! read more

Was standing in line as was called by the cashier next as I approach another man comes and the cashier tells me the man that was never in line that it was his turn. Standing there all confused the man and the cashier give me the look and say I guess you can go and to top it off they didn't validate my discount.
