Everything in the shop is very cool and the owner is very personable and friendly. I made a purchase quickly - I was actually on my way to work. My husband and I were eating at Rutt's Cafe when we noticed the sign for a sale next door at this cute little boutique. I walked inside and was immediately greeted by Jennifer, the owner. I browsed the rack of clothes, all of which were very nice, finally stumbling upon a sweater that I had to have. I I asked Jennifer if the sweater was on sale, which unfortunately it wasn't, but she was kind enough to still give me a discount on this sweater. The back room of this boutique had a lot of cute little tchotchkes. I absolutely love the charm of this place and of course the owner was as nice as can be. I stumbled across this shop walking one day. What a find! There really is something for everyone here! From the clothes to the art, this shop has it all. A friend told me about J&Grey about a month ago, and I've already been back two more times. I live near Abbot Kinney, and this is the kind of eclectic yet practical shop I wish still existed on that street. It's got wardrobe staples that are super reasonably priced (the gray tank dress I got was $18 AND Made in USA), but then it also has pricier (but not A-K pricey) one-of-kind LA designer pieces--like the lace and fringe dress I wore to my friend's wedding. The kids' stuff is adorable, too, so that was my third visit: to pick up pink-and-yellow daisy leggings paired with a surfer-style yellow hoodie for my two-year-old niece. Thank god it's not far from Abbot Kinney, so now I can just go there. read more

This review is long overdue, and I'm only sorry I didn't write this sooner. Back in June, my boyfriend worked with Jen to plan the most amazing surprise for me - a private, personalized shopping experience at J&Grey on my birthday. It was part of a day full of lovely surprises, but this first stop was truly incredible. Jen graciously opened her shop a little early on a Saturday, so that I could have time in the store alone - to try out pieces and twirl around as I pleased. Jen helped pick out clothes based on my body type and closet needs. Her selections were great, and included items I might not have picked out for myself, but fell in love with as soon I slipped them on. Not to mention, I was greeted with champagne, chocolate, and strawberries, and got to pick the music playlist. After roughly 90 minutes of feeling like a princess, I walked away with a few new outfits, and the biggest smile on my face. The quality, style, and curation of pieces is perfection. Every time I go into this boutique, my first thought is "ok I want one of everything!"... Jen is the best, as both a stylist and business owner. I came in one morning after breakfast at Rutts and I'm so glad I did! What cute clothes and jewelry--even some unique furniture and art! Without being pushy, the super nice woman working there had me try on a dress that I wouldn't have picked out for myself (less expensive than the one I had picked!) and it looked amazing on me! Do not ever get anything custom made here, especially for an important event!!!!! About a month ago my sister requested a dress to be made for her prom. Jennifer kept postponing her appointments and the deadline for picking up the dress. She finally said the dress would be ready only 2 DAYS BEFORE HER PROM! When my sister went for the dress it looked nothing like it did during the fittings and did not fit past her breasts. My sister is devastated and now has to look for a dress for prom only 1 day before her big event! Jennifer was drinking wine when my mom and sister where there, which makes me worried about her state of mind when designing something so important to her customers! On top of all of that she texted the person who referred us to her that we were hard to work with! So unbelievable unprofessional; she created so much drama for my sister to go through during such a special moment in her life. The only good thing is that she did refund my mother the $440 that the dress cost (and for that much money you would expect a masterpiece!) Warning anyone trying to get something custom made here, if it is really important go to someone else with more professional experience as a seamstress, and don't get overcharged! read more
