My boys wanted to go here just to use the restroom, lol, but I walked around & saw sooo many things I wanted. Unfortunately, because I don't have money like most people I know, I can't afford anything in here. My son , whom is visiting from Japan though, was sweet enough to buy me a $50 purse that I showed him & told him how much I loved it. I had also shown him gorgeous shoes I wanted & a pair of earrings. He told me he'd buy whichever one I wanted the most & I actually took him up on his offer. He's my baby . The employee was very pushy about wanting me to try for a JC Penney's Credit Card. I kept telling her no & she just kept at it. She was really getting on my nerves. I hate pushy salespeople. I have to say, I was surprised with the successful visit I had here! I live closer to another JCP and it never has anything too great. I struggle to find anything to use the $10 or $15 off coupons I get and just leave with A.N.A. socks after wandering around the store. Well, I drove by this location today with my $15 coupon and decided to stop in. I'm going on vacation and needed bathing suit bottoms. I found 2 great bottoms, both equipped with shaping technology but very stylish. Even better, they were 50% off! I couldn't use my coupon on them because of the sale so I went back to the jewelry and got a beautiful matching earrings and necklace set ... nice and colorful for my vacation! I'm excited to wear them. They were 40% off and coupon eligible. The store was clean and the employees, especially the lady who cashed me out in the fine jewelry department, were wonderful and engaging! I found the selection of, well, everything, bigger and better than the one near my house. And for anyone wondering, they are trying to stay open at this location while the mall is being converted but if they aren't allowed to, they are "committed to keeping the store in Amherst even if they have to move". Not to be confused with JV Peenie, which is both inappropriate and very immature. Located right on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the city of Amherst is this massive department store which is a lot sleepier and more quiet than it used to be. One of the flagship stores in the Boulevard Mall and these days it's a little bit overpriced and out of date, but they are trying to keep up and adapt, and you can still find some good deals here from time to time, although it's not my favourite store. My 5-star review is in part a plea to PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE ANYMORE DEPARTMENT STORE CHAINS!!! My beloved brick-and-mortar Bon Ton is gone, Sears is on the chopping block, Macy's keeps closing locations. If I lose Penney's too, I would seriously weep. In a lot of ways, I am an old-school shopper. Sure, I order from Amazon and other online retailers, but my preference is to touch and try before I buy. Especially with clothes and shoes. Plus the thrill of roaming the racks, not knowing what I'm looking for, but having that a-ha moment when whatever I was looking for actually finds me--PRICELESS. :-D So, as for this particular Penney's location, it has its pros and cons. As other Yelpers mention, it is pretty packed with merchandise. It's not the most organized store in general. The changing rooms can be cluttered. Some of the styles are less than today's flavor of vogue. But the clerks and managers are typically friendly. And the clearance sections, oh my beloved clearance sections, of which there are soooooo many, are beyond bountiful with truly dope deals to discover. If you are like me and enjoy spending hours trolling for discounts, you'll be in heaven. I have found many nice garments at this Penneys, both casual and for the office, marked way down from $40 or $50 or higher, to seven or eight bucks a piece. Oftentimes even cheaper, when you can stack coupons and/or rewards on top of the clearance prices. Word to the wise--leave your husband at home. Mine considers holding my purse at Penneys while I shop to be a retro form of torture that he should only be subjected to in the underworld. Break free, spend some hours finding super steals, and help keep these department store dinosaurs open for a few more years before we all run out of places to shop and eventually have to walk around naked. :-P read more

JC Penney is wonderful. It is my go to place for home goods (although the home goods are NOT CHEAP), jewelry, dresses, socks, purses you name it. However, the shoe department needs more people staffed. I have been here about 8 or 9 times and every time I have come looking for shoes there are countless women just like me rolling their eyes, waiting on a long line because there is only one person working in the shoe department. This means there is only one person going in the back to find shoe sizes, which can take a while and that same person is the one ringing customers out! It's a little bit insane. Last week it took me over 40 minutes to get a shoe in my size and check out. I didn't even bother trying the shoes on I had hoped for the best because there was no way I was waiting to try the shoes on and then get the workers attention again to buy them. The whole process was painfully painfully slow and I know everyone else who has shopped in the shoe department and reading this right now is nodding their head. I think their return policy however is very convenient. I bought a pair of boots a few months ago, wore them twice and the second time I wore them a strap broke. I brought them in, hoping they would allow a return even though they had been worn and they did! Save your receipts here and you shouldn't have a problem with returns. read more

Not a bad location. It's not the biggest or most organized store, but it's got a decent selection. I think they need to work on getting rid of their old stock a big better and not cram so much on their floor, as it's hard to maneuver through the aisles. Went her on Thanksgiving and they were understaffed at the cash registers, causing long lines. read more

Wow, I am truly amazed at how this place has turned around. Their newly remodeled store is bright, clean and refreshing. A great layout makes for easy shopping. I have been shopping at Express for years and I get upset sometimes because the quality of the clothes are lacking but the costs are insane. Penny's has amazing clothes at about a 3rd the cost. On a recent shopping trip to Express I spent $100 and walked away with two pairs of shorts and a pair of pants. Mind you a coupon and sales allowed for the "inexpensive" checkout. For the exact same price at JCPenney I could have scored 4 to 5 pairs of pants without having to wait for a coupon and sales and walked away looking just as stylish. I also love that they have Sehpora inside the store. Makes for an easier one stop shopping trip. read more

I've always had a love hate relationship here. But one things for sure the lines are always long to cash out and there's never anyone around to assist you. Even if you find a person to get someone from the department your in page, no one will still show up. I was there shopping, trying to find things that fit and wanted to be sized. For an hour I rummaged through racks in and out of the fitting room all the while the person was paged a couple times but still no one came. I went into this JCPenney location on multiple occasions to use a giftcard i had received. Each time there was no workers present. Upon my last visit I was so frustrated that I had asked the girl at the counter for help because I could not find a knife set even close to my price range. She let me know that I should try online because there is a bigger selection and I could have it shipped right to the store. I thought awesome! I will do that then. Oh was I wrong... Let me start off with that no way was I told not everything can be shipped to store - so not only was I slapped with a shipping fee, but a oversized package fee. For what? It is just a simple knife set! At this point I am like whatever. Just get rid of this nuisance of a giftcard. I go to cash out as a guest and nope! Hold on! Stop sign! The infinite loop of paypal logins after the giftcard was applied. Called customer service two times and no help! Used Facebook messager two times in addition to the phone calls, still no help! At this point two hours of my time was invested in this huge ordeal so I am determined. I download another browser to try and bam it works. So don't bother trying to order from chrome. In what day and age is this an issue? The next day I get the confirmation email - there is absolutely no package tracking number!! Sketchy if you ask me!! It's been a week and still no package. Within this week I have ordered 4 items to the 1 jcp from target and it has since been shipped and delivered. This is probably my favorite location of all of the local Penney's stores. Their plus size department is decent in size, thought it's totally hit or miss. Sometimes they seem to have great stuff. And other times, it's just all bad. I blame that mostly on the design of the clothes and quality of the materials, but sometimes, half of the department is clearance (from what seems like last summer?!) and it's all junk. What I really like to look at here though is the housewares and furniture. The furniture department is small but they have some amazing clearance deals. This past weekend they had an amazing Jonathan Adler bedroom set for 70% off. There was also this perfect little leather chair there for $300 (!!!!!!!!) but it was very sadly on hold for an employee there. Oh, I would have carried it home on my back if I had to! It was so comfy. Also some cool couches and tables on clearance for peanuts. So, this store can be a gold mine. And I like it for that reason mostly! But for me, the clothing is very hit or miss, as are most plus size departments. Blah. read more

It actually stopped me from spending money in the store as I went and purchased what I needed somewhere else because of it. I have no idea what happened to JC Penney's. My family used to shop there all the time but we really question it now. I had two ten dollar off ten dollar coupons that were sent to me. I went up to the cash register and told the cashier that I had two coupons. She started ringing everything up together. I again said that I had two of the coupons and knew that the items had to be rung up separately. She said well if someone else gets in line, I am going to have to ask you to get back in line. Are you kidding me? My husband was with me so he could have been the next customer in line and completed the sale. She rolled her eyes at me when I told her that. If JC Penney's sends me coupons, I am going to use them. Back in the day, they truly cared about their customers. Good morning, On November 19th 2017, JCPENNY put ONLINE ADS for Black Friday Deals which can be seen in the attached Pictures, I ordered 4 Rings, $10.00 per Ring, I made online payment and they even sent me the Receipts but last Friday got emails from them that the orders have been cancelled.I tried to call their Corporate Office in Planto, TX but they kept me on hold for over 30 minutes and finally one of their Supervisors turned me down in a very unprofessional manner, she tried to Bully me and hanged up the phone. I had promised someone those Rings and this is Breach of Trust by JcPenny, I have got very bad headache ever since this happened. This review is for the Sephora in JCP. Do they detest their employment at this small Sephora? I always shop and have wonderful experience at the store at the Galleria. This is the third time I tried this store and each time the girls working are rude, nasty and would rather work on their own makeup than help customers find a certain product. Sizes are very limited in store. You have the option to order and then pick up in store upstairs. Checkout takes a very long time especially when store is busy. For some reason transactions take a much longer time than in other stores.. So often cashiers can not handle an exchange or price adjustment. I purchased a winter coat that said medium on hanger. Took it home and it was size xl on medium hanger! My bad. I should have checked. Back to store again to exchange for a real size medium. Half hour later I walked out of the store for second time that day. Next day I was shopping for gloves, scarves, and hats. Selection was quite picked over. Then I noticed the jacket a purchased day befor was $20 less. No price adjustment available. Had to bring coat back for third time and I got attitude! Then I went to shoe department to purchase boots. 3 girls working in department talking among one another. I asked please can you order me correct size which they eventually did. Please update some of your clothing and have a quicker check out process. I do like some Ana clothing and some St. John's bay. Also Liz Clairborne is usually nice. But why stock so many sleeveless and short sleeve tops in Buffalo for winter? Yes for The south, no for Buffalo. Please do some updating please.
