I got to say one of my favorite auto shops to go to. Family owned and established, Was greeted right away and helped promptly. I come here for anything related to cars, it's like a one stop shop to fix everything. They have the in ground alignment rack which is great for my cars. Hok and James definitely know what they are talking about when it comes to repairs, no nickel and diming here. The prices are fair and I always recommend my friends which in turn would say how great of a service JC Master Tech provides. I brought my car in to JC Master Tech on West Lane in Stockton For a diagnostic for check engine light they told me my vapor canister purge solenoid and vapor canister vent solenoid was bad they charged me 67. 97 for the vapor canister solenoid they charged me $107 for the vapor canister vent solenoid I called Stockton Honda the dealership and the vapor canister purge solenoid was $50.13 and the vapor canister vent solenoid was 77 .99 And I'll do the math that's 128.12 so for both of these parts at Stockton Honda was cheaper than what they charge me 175.04 and if that's not a price gouge I don't know what it is and that's not the half of it they charge me $90 for the diagnostic and all other shops that I know of when you get your car repaired they use it towards your repair Bill and that's not all they charge me four hours total labor to install these parts they charge $90 an hour they charge me $410 they don't know how to multiply 90 times four is $360 and also and also they lose your parts to put it back together and now supposedly the car is fixed I pick up my car from the shop I drive it home it sleeps all night I wake up in the morning and I start it up guess what my check engine lights on they are awesome mechanics I wouldn't let them work on my bicycle I asked him to just give me back 50 bucks because they miss calculated on the labor at $90 an hour for four hours of labor equals $360 but they charge me 410 at $90 how do you multiply thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day sincerely EDWARD KOSTIC PS spread the word and thank you again read more

I came into this shop on accident; a coworker told me about a smog shop that had $30 smog checks, and I thought it was this shop. The gentleman at the front counter told me that I was at the wrong shop, but since I drove all the way here he gave me a great deal on the smog check- at almost half off their regular price! They sure do know how to begin a great business relationship, something I have not seen at a lot of automotive repair shops. Their Slammed Car Friendly! I always have them do my alignment! It's always on point and they tighten the bolts. A lot of places forget to really tighten the bolts and you end up killing your tires and have to do another alignment. But to make it short I recommend this place to everyone. :) read more

Let me tell you something, it would take me longer to write this review than having the mechanic change a serpentine belt on my wife's car. I am dead serious. I brought in my car, without an appointment on Tuesday, the 20th of December to change the belt on my Chevy, Aveo at about 10:20 a.m. exactly. I waited for about a half hour because I was a walk in. I swear, it took the mechanic less than 10 minutes to change out the belt. I was in my car at exactly 11:15 a.m, you do the math. It took less than an hour for the entire ordeal. Let me rephrase that, it was a great deal because on top of great turn-around, they also gave me a $20.00 off of my estimate because the mechanic was faster than me trying to type this review, I highly recommend JC Masters, they are the Masters. read more

These guys are honest and competent. For example my Lexus' window jammed. The Toyota Dealer told me that the regulator and motor were a single part and the cost would be $800. J.C. Went in today to get my car smogged and James had great customer service. The service was super fast, I was in and out with a great price.

This was a couple years ago but i went to have my AC fixed it wasn't blowing out cold air. Well I got it back after paying 700.00 and after 2 weeks my AC wasn't working again although my air was never really cold at all. Due to my crazy work schedule I waited 2 more weeks before I took it in. Well they said it's not covered under warranty anymore that it was only a 30 day warranty. So I was stuck with a broken AC and 700.00 dollars down the drain. When I took it to a reliable mechanic in Lodi (which I should of done in the first place) he said nothing was done. And it cost me 1100.00 to get it fixed right! And it works great till this day! This business seems a little shady I think they just threw antifreeze in it. My hoses where bad and cracked. Those should have been replaced! This place basically took my money and did nothing to the AC, I mean how much is antifreeze??? 700.00???? I would never recommend them, they can't be trusted. read more

This place is terrible. The guy that owns that whole building owns JC Master Tech. Please people don't be fooled by all the big fancy signs they have on the building and all the garage bays they have. There mechanic work is sub par at best. I had a 2001 Kia optima that was overheating. I usually fix my cars myself, but this time I just couldn't figure out why my car kept overheating so I did something I haven't done in years. To my car to the shop. My mistake was taking if to JC Master Tech. When I got there they charged me 80 bucks to look at the car which isn't bad because most charge 75-90 bucks to diagnose. The guy calls me 5 hours later telling me the car is overheating because the hoses were bad. So to told them to go ahead and change them. After they were done they called me to pick the car up. Car began to over heat before I even got it home. So I took it back the next morning and they told me I had to pay another 40 dollars for them to look at it again. Now I hadn't taken my car to a shop in years, but I know when a shop charges you to fix a problem and it doesn't get fixed. They don't usually charge you more money to find out what the problem is right. Right. Im not the arguing type though so I paid them the 40 bucks. This time they told me that my thermostat was sticking and needed to be replaces. So I paid them for that. Once it was done I picked it up and again before I got it home it started overheating. So yeah now Im pissed off. I take it right back to them and can you believe they tried to charge me another 40 bucks. At this point I went off and I told the guy listen this is the third time Im bringing my car back for the same problem that you people have failed to fix. So they finally agreed to take it back and look at it again. After a couple more hours they told me they cant find out why my car is over heating and I told them they needed to refund me all the money they charged me because they did not fix the problem. Needless to say they refused to do so because they had already did the work So that Monday I took the car to the dealership and they had the car for about 6 hours. The tech called me and told me they ran the car until it showed signs of beginning to overhear on the gauge. Then they tested the engine temp through the cars ECM via computer and with a laser temp gauge and he told me my car wasn't overheating at all. The gauges were just malfunctioning and they traced the problem back to a loose ground wire by the battery terminal. I told him about JC mastertech and he told me that if they had just tested the engine temp they would have known the car wasn't overheating. They charged me 120 bucks but the problem was fix. So I had him write down all of his comments and what he told me write on the receipt and asked him to sign it. I ended up taking the owner to small claims court over this. It wasn't about the money. It was about the principle. I hate when people try to get over on other to make a buck and that's what these guys did. Took all the paper and receipts showing the initial charge for diagnostic and all the charges their after for parts and labor and my receipt from the dealership with the comments hand written on it from the technician and signed by the tech as a formal statement. I also took pictures of the loose ground wire that the dealership fixed to illustrate to the judge how simple the problem was. I won my claim against JC Mastertech and was rewarded a total of 472.68 for all the money they charged me, fuel used from home to the shop, and the 8 hours I lost at work because of this. The judge said I came well prepared. Now again I say it wasn't about the money but the principle. This guy was pissed off. I saw him outside after we signed all of the paper work and he looked like he wanted to do something and I was so wishing he would so I could kick his face in then sue him for more money for assault, but he walked the other way and I went on my way smiling. Thinking they ended up loosing twice as much money than they initially charged me. Now wouldn't it have been better to just man up. Admit they couldn't figure it out and give me my money back. I just really cant stand people that try and get over and the best way to hurt a person like these guys is their wallet and that's what I did. So if you people are considering going here I would think twice. Go down the street to ULTRAcare. Talk to Ricky. They are awesome. read more

Came in for a clutch job on my car. I asked them for the pricing and they said around 600 sink asked them what if I bring my own parts will the cost less they said yes that it'll only be 375 so o said okay. When I came in to pick up my car it wasn't their. My guess is that they went to go take it for a test driver. I talked to the person not the Same one as the one I talked to before and he said they went to go get some clips for my pipes. And they'll charged me an extra five bucks. So meaning of my car pipes weren't on how did they drive it? They didn't towed it the person just took it for a test drive and the old man just wanted to take more money form me. So when it finally came down to it he gave me a receipt and it went from being 375to 500 I asked him why but it was a different person who barley speaker any English. On top of that they didn't even Do a good job on it. On top of that my car had been having other issues too for example my battery sides on me all of a sudden. It was never having any problem till I too it their. Not kidding two days after I took it from the shop I had to get a new battery fishy right! Next thing is I get this annoying squeaky noise coming from my clutch so I took it back and the guy told me that it's my clutch cable that I have to replace it and get a new one so I asked him how much for him to replace it he said 200 I took it to my other mechanic and he only going to charge me 150. My opinion just take it to another mechanic these people are shady and will charge you a ridiculous amount and try to get more money out from your pockets :p read more

I have used their services a few times, and I haven't been entirely happy with their services. I have taken my car there to repair last December. The car was fix for only a couple of weeks. In January I brought the car there again because the check engine light was on again and showing the same problem, which was slowing and losing power suddenly while I was driving. This is after $850 of repair work already. I took it back to get it check again and I end up paying $245 to get it repair, because according to them, what was wrong was not the same thing they just repaired. After a few months, I haven't really use the car all that much, but it was showing the same problem again. Last month (June) the check engine light turned on again. I called this business and they told me that they will have to run a diagnostic again, which will probably cost me another $80. I'm not sure about this business . read more

This review is long overdue! I've taken my car to JC Master Tech on quite a few different occasions and every single time James has been the best! I was referred by my boyfriends uncle to take my car there and I'm soo happy I did! James and his crew always did whatever they could to get my car going again and now it works! James is very knowledgeable about fixing cars and is always explaining to me what he found to be wrong with my car and then explaining to me how different parts work, which I love because it also expands my knowledge about cars. This last time I brought my car thinking it's more than likely a goner (I had just gotten some recalls done at Nissan of Stockton and they said my motor was bad and that it would cost $11,000 to fix not including the price of labor). So My thought was "yeaaa no let me get a second opinion"... so where did I go? JC Mastertech! I really thought I would have to make a call to pick and pull because the motor was done for and making a knocking noise....but then James called me and told me great news! A part I had just replaced not to long ago and still under warranty was actually a bad part on the manufacturers behalf causing a break down of the part and causing the knocking noise.. it wasn't the motor!! The car could be saved!! And it was!! The car was a gift to me and still very much needed, so the news made my day! I needed a break! Sooo Thank you soo much James! Terrible service, so unprofessional. This has to the worst auto shop ever. They claim to know import cars, but they don't even have the tools to perform the work needed...Mickey mouse shop. Went in for a check engine light and $500 later they had me replace mass air flow sensor. Light came back on after 30 mins of driving. Took it to a Nissan dealership and all it needed was a software upgrade, confirmed that the sensor wasn't the issue. Went back to JC Mastertech and they didn't care to hear it. Told me not to come back. There was another customer that was also upset after spending $1k trying to repair the check engine issue. The light came on a day later for him. Don't trust this shop. About 1 1/2 year ago I got my brakes replaced here and asked about the warranty and was told it's lifetime warranty except the labor. 1 1/2 year later my brake is squeaking and call the place and ask them again on their warranty and was told the same thing over the phone. I brought the car to check the the brakes and the guy told me the brakes are all gone. I said what! it's only 18,000 miles how can it be gone? So I said, well it's lifetime warranty so replace it. The owner told me no, they don't have lifetime warranty and never had lifetime warranty. He then asked me if I want to replace it, I said are you kidding me!? I'm not going to to have you replace the brakes every 18,000 miles for $140. He then charged me $30 for checking the brakes! These people are a bunch of Cambodian liars! Never again take my vehicles there. If you do take your vehicle make sure you have these liars write it on the receipt and sign it. read more

Came in for clutch job on my 2001 prelude costing around 700 dollars with resurfaced flywheel. They promised a 3month warranty that if anything goes wrong they will fix it free of charge. They said drive it for at least 2k miles for break in period and I did after I hit 2k miles my car started shaking violently setting off in 1st gear. I took the car back and they said it just needs to be broken in more so keep driving it and it should go away, but the thing is it got worse. I took it back again and told them that the shaking has gotten worse and they said you need a clutch cable adjustment supposedly they did that and it made no difference. They said keep driving some more and I did I and the shaking got really bad. It's really embarrassing especially in traffic it looks like the car is about to fall apart. I told them this isn't right you guys should fix this problem. I been coming there for all my car needs and then they came to a conclusion that my flywheel is bad and it's going to cost 800 to fix it. They resurfaced and put the flywheel on it so they should fix it under the warranty what's even worse is that they wanted to charge me to look at the clutch problem like what's the point of a warranty? I'm a bit irritated with this shop. I went in on Thursday of this week early in the morning to have a smog test done. I own a 1990 Chevy C1500 Silverado pickup. I'm in a time constraint to get this done due to some difficulty in acquiring the pinkslip to this vehicle. DMV has given me a time frame in which to produce a clean smog test. JC started the smog test and came to me about an hour after telling me that the emissions part of the test came through with flying colors. Heres the catch..... then they proceeded to tell me it was an incomplete test that they couldn't check the timing due to harmonic balancer problems on my vehicle. This sounded a bit wishy washy to me. I asked questions that they seemed to be able to explain away. I then asked how much it would be to do said replacement. The quote was around $275.00'ish..... I have plenty of experience doing this sort of work on cars. I told them no thanks.... I will do the work and come back. They then said it would be another $38.00 to complete the test and for me to make sure the timing was spot on. I searched around town all over, wasting time and gas and my patience. I finally found the harmonic balancer and then was about to replace it. A friend said don't do it yet.... take it to Miranda's on Fremont St. in Stockton first, see what he says. I did just that..... Miranda's told me that nothing was wrong with my harmonic balancer and that whoever said so was full of it and trying to get you to spend more money with them. I immediately became infuriated with JC Mastertech. Miranda's took the time to write up a referral letter to send me to a shop he has all his customers cars smogged at. I went there and was talked to just like a person with a brain. They did the test and low and behold.....no problems with the checking timing or with the harmonic balancer. If JC Mastertech didn't know how to do the job they should have said so and waived payment. They gladly took my money and then tried to get more. Nothing was wrong at all. I now know not to trust or use JC Mastertech again and hope this sways you to stay away as well. My 25 year old pickup.... I am proud to say is not a gross polluter and passed every smog test with flying colors. Thankyou to Miranda's on Fremont St. And thankyou to A-1 smog shop on Fremont and Wilson Way as well. You are trustworthy and honest and have taken my business away from JC Mastertech. Fair and square. I for one will never go back to JC Mastertech or will refer anyone to them. In fact I will do the exact opposite of that. Stay away from that place for your own financial good. Apparently they're are honest shops and JC Mastertech does not fit that bill. read more

If I have a problem that my cousins or I can't fix I bring my car here. This shop has made lots, I mean LOTS of money off of me and my family. They are extremely quick with their repairs, and before they start anything, they tell you what's wrong, and how much it's gonna cost. And the cost never is more than the original estimate, unless there's more work that needs to be done, but they'll call you first to see if you will allow the other work. The only reason for the missing fourth and fifth star is because their warranty on their work is too short. Many other shops warranty their work for atleast 6 months, they usually warranty 1-3 months only. The other reason is because they charge 80 bucks for a simple diagnostic check. Well, I can't complain too much, that is what they charge for an hour worth of labor (I know, I know, there are places that will do that for free. But I usually tell them to fix it when I first take it in anyways). read more

I thought this was A great shop by all the signs posted outside but it is all bunch of fake. I brought my driver and passenger hub and spindle to them to put a new wheel bearing and charge me $150 dollars. So I was okay with that. The problem is only my passenger side so I bought 2 new wheel bearing to do both side which I don't have a problem with the driver side in the first place. They can't put the passenger, cause the hub needed a replacement so instead I went to the junk yard get the whole thing for $55. I put everyhing back to the car. When I drive 35 mph in the city it is okay, when I go to work and drove it going about 65 mph and apply the brakes, my vehicle start to shake. I drove home and call in sick. I went to junk yard to get driver side. put everything back. I drove after that. All the shake was gone when I go 65 mph and apply the brake. I return to them to get driver side fix it. The owner said I don't know nothing. I came there to fix the problem on driver side which I have no problem in the first place. I saw the guy working on it at that time. I was looking at seems he is having a hard time pressing the wheel bearing removing and press it again. Well, the owner said it might be my rotor? I said I just replace my rotor last year ago. We ended argument so I will take an action on this matter and report them to automotive bearu and BBB. I don't recommend this so call Jc Master Tech. They should name it Jc rip-of tech.............This is not a good place to get your car done!!!!!!!!! read more
