first to work on my car besides myself. my age stops me from working on it. perlu had their people work on my car as if it belonged to them. i was impressed with their details. i didnt have to worry. and they support veterans. they were very experience and it was like watching me work on my own car watching them do the work. i have never let any mechanic touch this car because it ran like a swiss watch. i will have them do my tuneup in the future. i trust them. very experienced and my car is running like it did before it broke down. worth every penny i paid them with cash i saved incase this would happen. you cant go wrong with these people. too smart for the average mechanic. read more

A while back, I visited this shop for a quote on a valve body repair because my car was revving past 5,000 RPMs at low speeds and etc. I explained the situation to the front desk team, but in hindsight, I probably gave too much detail prior to giving the reason why I was actually here. They understandably assumed I wanted a full diagnosis because of the different issues described rather than just a quote for the valve body repair. And to be honest, that's what the process should be like. Because what if I am wrong about the prognosis, ya know? After dropping off my car, I later received a call letting me know they don't work on transmission-valve body replacements and was charged for the diagnostic, along with a recommendation to another shop. At the time, it felt like I paid for a referral, which didn't sit right with me. Recently, I came back to discuss this with the owner, Richard. We had a great conversation and agreed it was simply a misunderstanding during a very busy day. Keep in mind that Richard is also not the person who took my car in. I am sure if he was there when I first walked in, he would have recommended me elsewhere. But what stood out to me was Richard's professionalism and integrity. You have no idea how easily he could have said "no" to my visit today because at the end of the day I signed off on the paperwork prior to handing off the keys. But instead, he took the time to hear me out and make things right--not because of the money, but because he truly cares about the customer. That kind of passion and commitment is rare in the industry, and it's clear he's one of the only ones to have maintained it for however long he's been in the business, respectfully. That said, the shop itself is spacious and welcoming, not cramped like some places that make you feel rushed. Plus, the location is great--lots of nearby stores and even a gym if you want to kill time while waiting. If you're looking for a place that values honesty and customer care, this is it. Five stars to Richard, his establishment, and the team. And if you made it this far, it's only fair that you pay them a visit :) read more

I came there this morning for an oil change for my Kia Soul. I was thinking that I would have to come back because it was close to 8:00am. They fit me in and changed my oil, checked my brakes and rotated the tires. I told them I had to start work at 9:00am and I was in and out in a half hour. They made fresh coffee for me, rotated my tires and checked my brakes! Service with a great smile. I'm very satisfied and will return read more

Perlu was such an excellent experience , unlike any auto shop I've ever dealt with before . They were quick to check out the problem with my car even without an appointment. They were even able to fix it the same day . Last time I brought my other car to the dealership to get fixed they kept it two days and all of a sudden another problem came up after . I will never go back to a dealership and will definitely be going to Perlu from now on. Service and price can't be beat read more

Overall great experience from the courteous front desk staff to the quality work and good value provided.

Huge thank to the folks at Perlu from Pina, Melissa, Christina and especially Rich. We were coming back from our mini vacation in Pollock Pines (we are from Fremont) when our truck lost all electrical, turned out it was the alternator, had that replaced along with the battery. This is a top notch triple A approved auto repair shop. It's also a pet friendly place, they even had treats for our little girl Bindi. The waiting room is very clean, AC for those hot days, etc... I highly recommend this place. read more

Poor communication. For customers with a Check Engine light or diagnostic needs, let me share something that I wasn't told by them: BE PREPARED TO LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE THERE ALL DAY. I was told they don't take appointments but that they work on a "first come first served basis." This is misleading. I was the first customer in the door at 7:30 and I watched them service 2 vehicles that arrived after me while mine sat in the parking lot. I waited for 1.5 hours and asked for my keys back. They said they only have certain technicians designated for diagnostics and that person was "working on a car from yesterday," that the vehicles being serviced before mine "were just oil changes." I called later in the day and spoke with owner Christina who was apologetic and said she would work with the staff on communication. Unfortunately that does nothing for the time I wasted. Had they been up front initially about how long it would have taken I would've arranged a ride or picked a place that offered firm appointment times. read more

Melissa at the front desk was nice and courteous. The place was clean and tidy. I do love the interior decor. There are neat touches too, like The Avengers arcade machine. There are vending machines also, which is nice. The mechanic/techs are friendly as well. Perlu was upfront about everything which makes me trust them. They told me what to expect, how they will approach the service, and gave me a quote. With that said, the pricing was very reasonable, especially for a 5-star business who backs up their work with warranty. I was actually surprised they didn't charge me more for labor. I went in for brake service. They let me know exactly what the condition of my brakes were. Another business would've just said I needed to change all of my brakes, but Perlu told me I had 90% left on my rear pads. No sketchy stuff here, just an honest business. I know how to work on cars but sometimes you just don't feel like it. I usually never feel like working on cars, but I HAVE been lately because of sketchy shops (who don't actually change your oil). You don't have to worry about that at Perlu. Now that I found a place I could trust, I can pay for the service instead, which is worth it to me because working on cars can be a headache. They gave me a discount on labor. I'm not sure why, but thanks, guys! read more

So far so good. Came here to get an oil change and had a free brake inspection. I was overdue for a new set of brakes and probably rotors anyways and so I had that done, and they had a cost effective option of resurfacing the rotors instead so I went with that. And recommended cleaning of the rear drum brakes which I have still 50% left. I may come back later on doing more work, and they work with Snap! Finance and I believe a couple other finance partners. Though I'm approved under snap! I'm thinking about what to do (like struts front and back). Anyway a total wait time of about 3 hours; just went over and had some breakfast nearby at a cafe across the street. read more

I ended up getting stuck in Stockton due to a radiator leak. Very dangerous if not fixed. I found this place on Yelp and the other reviews (positive) were spot on! Took my 2016 Chrysler 200 here in December. Once they determined what the problem was they quoted me a great price to repair. I know it was great because my mom encouraged me to call around first before proceeding forward with repair. They also helped with payment by offering snap loan which came in handy as it was the Christmas holiday season. They also filled my tire to recommended PSI as the light went off the same morning I dropped the car off. My car has been working great ever since. Every person I encountered who works here were nothing more than respectful and helpful. Overall I would definitely give them my business again and recommend to anyone who in Stockton. If not for Covid I could have hugged these people! read more

From first phone conversation, to drop off, to follow through; every one courteous and efficient. I called around with stated problem "battery draining /electrical issue." Honda Dealer, expensive to diagnose and if they do the work there is no "giveback" from diagnostic dollars. Other place was abrupt and rude "we charge $110 an hour, what else do you need to know." Perlu's "we deal with battery issues all if the time; first we check battery/alternator and if we need to go further will give you a call." Later in day called to say, "we need to go further ." They kept car over night. richard called "we've found the problem ". And he clearly and patiently gave me 3 options in hiw to proceed. And, their quotes/pricing were exceptional! Every interaction by phone and in person was as if the employees enjoyed their work; providing excellent customer service . Perlu's has made a new customer. read more

The owners son hung up on me. Don't ever disrespect a customer! There is absolutely no reason for that. If you can't deal respectfully with your paying customer then don't employ them. But, being the owners son there is no discipline. Update: as you can see the owner replied to my review in a very disrespecting manner. He'll believe whatever his son tells him so whatever he says don't carry much weight. FYI, I believe you are talking about my Google review, this is my yelp review and I also did a BBB review. No matter what, while dealing with the public, do not disrespect him/her. No excuse Update to the update. I'm not sure why you are so aggressive like this. Your child was the one who is rude and you are showing everyone where he gets it from. Don't know about karma because I found a good mechanic and my car is good. You maybe a a 5 star company but not from this customer, if I could give 0 I would. Take the L and sit this one out. read more

So my very first time getting a smog check (and it wasn't even for my own car). I called earlier in the week to get some information beforehand, I forgot who I spoke to, but everyone has been extremely friendly both over the phone and in person. Very easy to talk to and made it an enjoyable experience coming in. I'll definitely be coming back in the future. read more

I called and asked if they work on transmissions? The receptionist that answered the phone, she said No! They do not. If that was the case , then why did I read Perlu advanced Auto repair work on transmissions. Did the receptionist not know ? Was she misinformed? Or does she lack training? Or they do not work on my kind of vehicle? I don't know all she said was NO! I'm Giving her benefit of the doubt. To be polite and respectful. Then if they don't work on transmissions, then this service claiming they do is misrepresented. And it shouldn't be on the service that claims it is provided as a service. Sorry I have a negative view of this shop and took my vehicle elsewhere . I was referred to Perlu by Jiffy lube. My wife's Honda needed to replace or rethread the oil pan in order to have the oil changed. I had to get my valve cover and valve cover gasket replaced. Super pleasant experienced and Pinu (spell check on his name I didn't quite catch it) was so helpful and even explained to me what probably caused the issue without making me feel dumb, which is hard to come by when it comes to car repair as a woman. This place charged me $135.00 for a diagnostic and $558.63 for repairs and did not properly fix my car, I went to JC auto and got my EGR VAL replaced the day before bring my car to Perlu. My car did not want to accelerate so I took my car to Perlu. Richard the owner decided to put a hole in my brand new egr val because he said my rear cat converter is clogged and the air needed to go some where else in order for the car to drive. As a license mechanic he was wrong for damaging and rigging my car and not fixing it the correct way. I took my car to another shop and they replaced my egr val and break booster and my car was fine. Richard the owner refuses to give me my full refund back and says he did what he had to do. I recently got my girlfriend's brakes and rotors done and I'm so glad to have done it at Perlu. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and above all professional. One of the hardest parts about moving to a new city is finding a reliable mechanic. We've had some "bad luck" finding a decent shop, but this place took all the guesswork out of the equation. Even though we were willing to pay above the average cost of getting the brakes and rotors done for peace of mind, we found that Perlu gave us a better quote than places that don't even come close (in terms of reviews). The work was done in a reasonable timeline and they even helped accommodate some our time constraints. Solid place, great service. Definitely going here moving forward. read more

Second time taking my vehicle to this repair shop. The first time was for an oil change. My vehicle was due to have the timing belt, water pump, and spark plugs replaced. I researched approximately how much this would cost and then went to Perlu to schedule an appointment. The gentleman at the desk greeted me as soon as I walked in. I told him what I wanted to have done and he gave me an estimate which to my surprise was well below what I had researched. I scheduled an appointment for the following week. I dropped my vehicle off a little after 8am and was told it would be ready later that day or the following which was fine. Later that afternoon around 1:30p I received a call informing me my vehicle was ready for pick up. I was shocked! I will continue to take my car here for future maintenance. Their service is impeccable and the price point is great. read more
