I have 3 vehicles and I smog them all right here and have been doing so for years. In fact, I have never used another smog station since Ive lived in Stockton. Ive never had a need to and quite frankly dont want to go anywhere else. This is a great place. These days its very hard to find local businesses or business in general that treat you well and do great business. So when i find a place. I stick with them. Im not someone that runs around looking for the cheapest price or the closest place. I look for companies that do great business, especially local companies as I believe that local companies should have the support of the community first. When you walk into the small lobby here. You are greeted by the very nice, and cultured owner. Not only is he a very polite guy, but he welcomes a good conversation with you when he is not busy. Definitely not like many of these businesses that only want to take your money and get you out the door as quickly as possible. You fill out and sign the receipt and this guy gets straight to work. All of my vehicles are newer so they dont require being hooked up to the machine and only takes about 10 minutes, but people should realize that older vehicles still need to be hooked up to the machine and the process does take a little longer. read more

I hate this time of year. It's expected to be 105 today in Stockton. My make up is melting and my automobile registration is due... and had to get a TEST ONLY this time. My car.... oh... my car. I love that little thing. Races through the Altamont... passes like no other. Take the targa top off and think I look like hot shit. Literally.... in 105 degrees. I have the worst luck with smogs and O2 sensors. I usually don't pass a smog, have a couple hundred dollars in repairs... attempt another smog and pray for a miracle. This year, I walked into Peter's shop, said, 'Hi Peter! ready to fail me, AGAIN?' And I must note the reason why I go to Peter is because of All-American Muffler next door. If you have similar problems with your little racer, then check your car in with Peter, run next door to All-American Muffler and tell them your story. NO... they don't want to hear about your latest 'deal' at Macy's, or how your new pair of high heels are killing you. They have always resolved my issues to result in a 'PASS'. Peter said to me, 'if you don't run your car too hard, then you should have no problem passing today'. My husband about laughed his ass off. I followed with,' what do you mean, 'run hard'? Peter then went on to say, 1. staying below 3000 RPMs 2. proper shifting (this is where I developed the guilty expression on my face) 3. blah blah blah... I was pretty much NOT expecting to pass after all of that. This little auto circle is my little secret. If you're driving really fast on Hammer Lane, headed east and approaching Crack Alley... oops, I mean Tam O'Shanter, you've passed it. It's that quick. And I would say that there are probably about 6 or 7 businesses in this little circle. Peter is an honest man. I've been dealing with him for 4 smogs now. That's probably 6-7 tests. He never fusses around..... he finished testing my car in about 25 minutes this morning! ***please note... I know that I have reviewed this business. WTF happened to the original???? read more

Man, don't you hate it when DMV sends you your registration renewal like months in advance then you put it away and basically forget about it? I just had this twinge that I'd missed my D(as in DMV) day. And I did! Late fees and oh brother I have to get it smogged. Where to go! I called Bob, if Bob doesn't know, no one will know. Not a bad spot. I have been here in the past. Had to get my mom's car smogged at a Test Only Site. It failed the first time. So I had to take it to the T & N Auto Repair across the way from them and get them to adjust stuff to it. They took it back to his spot and walah.. it passed. He was pretty cool about it. I think it was done in like 20 minutes MAX. They have some nice leather couches inside to wait. Also have a TV as well... In total it cost me $70.00 for the Smog Check. read more

He failed the smog. We went to another shop and it was passed w/o an issue. We came back for the refund of the certificate fee that was charged ahead of time but he refused to give it back. The issue is how can he failed the smog base on his "visual inspection" when all other items were passed by the state's computer. Thanks for the service and you can keep the fee. I went to Peter Smog based on positive Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. It turned out that my truck had an improper catalytic converter installed some years ago, and could not be certified (they have to check for that now). Peter tried very hard to confirm whether the converter would be ok. I also had a problem with the connection to the ignition computer. He tried multiple times to get it to work, and even confirmed it wasn't his equipment by bringing another truck in and hooking it up. He told me that if I came back after the repairs, he would retest free. I will always use Peter Smog Check.I read more

Brought my Honda in for a smog last week. It was really fast, in and out, which is great for someone like me with a busy schedule. I guess the owner is the main guy who does the smogs here and he was super friendly and made me feel confident that he was trustworthy with my car. I feel like some of the other shops can take advantage of you especially if your a girl and add on extra costs or tests. Thankfully this is not the case here and the owner is very honest and clearly explained the entire process to me. I can say overall that it was affordable and an easy process and I would recommend this place over the others any day. And yes, my car passed.
