Sam from JB pools is an awesome expert at all things pool. I had him come out to take a look at my pool heater. He immediately diagnosed problem and was able to replace two parts, one being the igniter, and get the heater up and running. He easily went through the job and the parts available, as well as the options and costs to replace the parts. Within an hour of him showing up, the pool heater was fixed, and the water started getting very warm. In addition to fixing my heater, he fixed the pool pump and heater gate closing mechanism. He did this on his own accord, without me asking. When he told me about fixing the gate, he said, "I Just don't want the kiddos to be able to get to the pool pump or heater". I have dealt with this company for years and in the past was very satisfied. Dan installed our new equipment and revamped the whole system, new piping, etc. When I was at the store last Saturday, I asked for Dan to come out to troubleshoot a problem. I was told that Dan is busy and I might want to have someone else come out. I said that I really prefer Dan because of his particular knowledge of our system. When I asked for Dan anyway, they said they would put in a work order for him and that he would call me on Monday to schedule. On Monday, I received a call wanting to send someone else out. The person pretty much assured me that he didn't know when I could get Dan nor did he say he would have Dan call me. To date, I haven't received a call from Dan. Samuel and Dave came out to install a new Filter system, electrical box and heater for my moms pool and spa. They were on time and explained everything that they were going to do, my mom and i so we felt involved in the process. They came out quick after being contacted, the demolished the old equipment and installed all the new equipment within 2 days that included putting a new concrete slab in for the equipment. Before they left they gave us a run down of the system and how everything worked, they listened to our questions and answered all of them we appreciated that. Our pool had very little pressure and we didnt know why. We first stopped at Leslie's Pools for advice and the guy was not helpful. We then visited JBs and we spoke with Lorenzo. He said they would call us back the following Mon to schedule an appointment to check our problem and train us on our equipment. Monday passed and no call, so I call Thurs to make an appointment. The lady said she would call to find out when they would be available to stop by. About 30 mins later, my husband calls telling me that JB just called telling him that they'll be at our place in 30 mins. We expected to schedule an appt with them, not have them call us to tell us that they were coming NOW! Anyway, after the mixup, we got an appt and Lorenzo stopped by, diagnosed and fixed the really minor issue, on top of helping us to learn about our equipment. Though the scheduling mix up could've been fixed with a better, more organized system, all in all, we were very happy with Lorenzo and would use them again. This place has been a lifesaver. Being a first time pool owner I had no idea how to take care of my pool. The owner (Dave) is extremely knowledgeable and has helped me to master my own pool care. The prices are lower than the local bigger chain stores and comparable to online. I do not often write reviews but this place is the reason people miss small businesses. They remember me and my daughters every time we come in and go above and beyond to be helpful. They also will not try to sell you or even recommend anything you don't need. I have no idea how this spot wasn't on yelp yet because it has been around as long as I can remember. JB's pool is truly a gem and one of the last great small businesses. Came here not for the pool supply, but because I heard they had quality wood. Saw the palettes stacked up and figured it was cheap but large quantities. Instead a found a firewood connoisseur that imports wood from around the States to use for burning and cooking. Not only that they have the wood palettes used for smoking in the Traeger style grills (which I happen to have). I don't know the name of the man who helped me but he seemed like he ran the place. He was not only helpful but VERY informative. I came away feeling educated and excited to try out my purchase of Juniper wood mix containing some long burning and some aromatic pieces. I had an uncomfortable experience with JB. Especially, during a phone call from a representative, who stated that they are "refusing to provide service to me," even after I spent $800.00 with them. Some resolvable issue came up (a $50.00 service call) that, ultimately, lead her to indirectly threaten me, "that I have Ilegal electrical in my yard." Like she's gonna report me or something. Well, I don't. Never did. He just couldn't find the J-Box. And this leads me to wonder; does anyone want a pool guy to investigate their shit? Use it against them? Damn! There's a lot of love going on in that business. It's not likely that I, or anyone I know, will ever go to them for help. Even though, they seemed helpful when I went there. To the tune of $800. Hell, I was about to throw down for that $1800 sweeper. Had the cash on me. Some people turn away business for deep personal feelings, not just prejudice. If you rely on your hateful intuition (some people have uncontrollable issues) you are just throwing away money. I know, I am a Controller for a much more lucrative business. I'll send you guys the $50 dollars. And you can forfeit a, possibly, long and lucrative business relationship. Gladly, I suppose. read more

I went in to get some chemicals to remediate a pond in a house I had recently purchased. The water was so green I could not see the fish. The gentlemen that worked in there were extremely knowledgable and helpful. The products they suggested worked well for a reasonable price. Six months ago I hired a fellow from Craigslist to help me with an urban garden in my backyard, complete with rectangular Koi pond. He bailed on me midway through. I had already invested time and money into it and wasn't sure how to deal with the giant "hole" (literal and figurative) he left. Enter J B's Pool and Pond. When I spoke with Dave, the owner, he assured me that he would take care of things, and take care he and his crew did! The pride he took in my project was wonderful. I had a recurring water loss problem in my pond. We decided to take out 21 Koi fish and clean the pond. They did an excellent job. I think it is time to add a 2019 review. ---I had JB's rebuilt my pond about 10 years ago after a so-called relative badly botched the job. Since that time they have been both servicing my pond and advising me on changes to make over time that have resulted in a beautiful backyard focus point with the serene sound of the waterfall that drowns out the increasing freeway noises. Whenever I am in a freak-out mode about something, they have been extremely responsive and patient. When I began to travel frequently, they helped me place an auto feeder on my pond. Just had my pool filter and pump replaced after 34 years with the Pentair brand on sale every June. Dan did the installation, not only replaced the equipment but upgraded the entire electrical box, wiring and cement slabs as they sunk somewhat over time. It was a little costly but what a great job he did. The pool sparkled. The water feels like silk. The equipment is almost silent and the area around it is neat and clean. It took 2 full days and a couple more hours the 3rd morning to paint the pvc to match the other equipment, then to have Dan stand and explain the new digital controls to me because I'm an idiot who cannot learn this by reading the manual. He was so patient. It was so hot throughout the installation and both Dan and Craig were terrific. Told Dave, the owner, thanked them all. Fantastic service. You don't find that a lot today in any company. The company is run hands-on by the owner, who is almost always right there. Good job guys. read more
