He didn't have the proper paper work for warranty or insurance for me to sign. I asked him to come back 30 min after he left, to look at my washer machine - he was going to charge me the same amount for a 15 min job. It took 15 min for him to fix my drier and that's counting the arrival time. To pay another $170 on the same day, AFTER I told him my washer needed to be looked at when he was here is ridiculous. When I told him something was wrong with my washer machine, he told me to continue using it if the clothes were coming out clean. Cost $60 for service plus $110 to repair plus parts. When I got a little irritated with him he told me he wished he had charged me more money plus he told me I didn't know what it took for a repairmen to come out to do the work. Not the first time I had something repaired in my house. I gave 2 stars because my drier now works.

Needed my dryer fixed, and was skeptical of all the various repair providers listed online. I…read morewanted to ensure I'd get quality service bother before AND after the repair people came. Many companies failed in this respect. After checking reviews, I decided upon J&M Appliance. No, they don't have a fancy website. No, they don't have a fleet of vehicles. Yes, they got the results I needed within 30 minutes and also arrived on time (calling before they came). Of note, while they are extremely friendly in person, I can definitely see how they may come across "abrupt" on the phone. This was especially the case as they answered an incoming call requesting service while working on my dryer (so don't expect a secretary to answer), and I could see they were just looking to find out the location and contact info of the caller (to schedule a time to come out) so they could return to the task at hand. Their prices were fair (initial show up fee + 30 min. incremental billing + parts needed), and they took the time to explain what was broken and what needed fixing before they installed it. I'd highly recommend them to friends and family, but like I said, don't be shocked by the phone conversation if they don't come across as "excited to answer your call," they're probably working away and wanted to make sure you reached a live person instead of a machine. (and No, it didn't delay them in getting the job done quickly :P )

I wrote this for google reviews, but may as well spread it around:…read more If you use these guys for an appliance repair, you can rest assured they will be late - even for an all-day appointment - if they bother to show up at all. I've had this company do a number of appliance repairs at my rental unit. They have never once been on time ("on time" being at least a 4 hour appointment window). They don't call. They schedule all day appointments, then no-show and no-call. They were supposed to install a control board in my 2 year old washing machine this afternoon (purchased from Appliance Outlet, of course), that has been non-functional for three weeks now. "Between 1 and 5", they said. When I hadn't heard from anybody all afternoon, I called them to make certain someone was coming, which they reassured me someone was. So I waited. And waited. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. I didn't hire them, and wouldn't, but the property manager seems to like using them. I have now told her not to send them over again. It would probably have cost me less to hire someone reliable myself to fix the machine than the value of the time I've lost sitting around waiting for chronic lates and no-shows. Don't hire these people for your repairs. Don't buy anything from them. They're patently unreliable. Note: Yelp for some ridiculous reason places my location in California in spite of my attempts to correct it. I'm in Edmonton.

ESPECIALLY when my smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector started going off! Not knowing if I'd slowly die of carbon monoxide poisoning was scary-- especially on the coldest day of the year so far! Fortunately, the lady I spoke to at Acclaimed reassured me that what was going off WASN'T the carbon monoxide detector (once I gave her more details). They couldn't get anyone over here any sooner, but she did refer me to some other businesses to see if anyone else had availability any sooner. For the peace of mind she gave me in the middle of chaos (with the detector blaring in the background), I will give them a fantastic rating. It was SO appreciated!

The technician arrived on time, was courteous, professional and seemed to be competent. After about 30-45 minutes he told us that we needed to replace the heat pump and that it could not be repaired. We paid the service fee of about $200 and asked that they send out someone who could give us a estimate to replace the heat pump. 2 days later another technician came out, and gave us an estimate. Again, he was on time, courteous, professional and friendly. I mentioned the need to replace the heat pump to a friend who lives in our building. He mentioned another company and so we called them to get an estimate on replace the heat pump. They came out, and looked at it, asked some questions, did some maintenance and the heat pump is working! No replacement needed! Getting this 2nd opinion saved us literally thousands of $. We are so grateful for the other company and will probably not call Acclaimed! again for a repair - since either their technicians are not competent, or they tried to sell us something we didn't need. After I posted this review, the owner of the company apologized for the misdiagnosis and offered to refund the initial service fee. He was very polite, listening and we had a good conversation. He handled this with grace and so much better than other owners. I'll raise my rating to a 2 from a 1 because of this call. It was appreciated.

Richard and Sheldon did an awesome job cleaning and made sure not to track any dirt into the house, and did a thorough job. I love their pricing method which is by the size of your house, so no surprises, and it includes dryer vent cleaning (which everyone should get cleaned every few years). The pricing is very reasonable, no nickle and diming on extra charges later, what you are quoted is what you pay (plus GST). Other companies I have looked into will seem to provide a low cheap cost, but then will add other fees and it becomes more than what you initially believed. I have already recommended them to other family members and will use them again for future cleanings.

All I have to say about George's Ditching is Great price. Great work. Great people…read more Okay, I might have a little more to add... First let me start with the owners Dennis and Rocky - sons of the founder (George). These guys were raised right. They really understand the value of customer service. When I called and spoke to their very friendly office receptionist, both brothers (owners) were at my door within a few hours. They quickly assessed my drainage situation, and were very fair when it came to pricing. But their service goes a lot further than a good price. Great communication skills. I really liked these guys, and I was completely upfront with them regarding the challenges of my job/drainage project. You see, I had just laid a bunch of new concrete next to the house, and I didn't want that tampered with. Not only that, his guys would have to hand dig around a gas line I had running to my garage. I think they appreciated my candour. Rather than trying to hit me up for extra cash, or make a big deal about the situation, they quickly assessed all of the challenges I was throwing at them and calmly explained how they intended to overcome them. We were off to a great start. They suggested we get started the next week, and all of the paper work and permits were quickly put in place, without me having to lift a finger. These guys run a VERY professional operation. When the site foreman, Rick, showed up the day of the job I was even more reassured I had made the right choice going with George's ditching. This guy was truly awesome. Very skilled with a backhoe, and he treated my property with the same level of respect as if he was working on his own house. Every now and then, I would ask the 3-4 guys working on my sewer line replacement a question, and they were all very respectful and happy to answer any questions or concerns I had. Now here's the best part. THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLY EFFICIENT! I can't stress how impressed I was with how quickly they were able to locate and replace my new sewer line. They had anticipated that it was a two day job, but they were completely done within 7 hours - all in less than one day. And that's with all my nit-picky requirements! If you're not familiar with the "new" latest technique they use to replace a sewer line, I'll provide you a brief primer on what I learned/discovered. First of all, they no longer have to dig a deep trench across your entire yard. Really! They just dig a small (3'X3' hole) on either end and use a hydraulic system to insert a new strong PVC replacement. Owners Dennis and Rocky even brought a sample with them on their first visit. I digress, anyhow back to Rick the site foreman. Rick was extremely talented with how to strategically dig the required holes to meet my requirements, and do as little damage as possible to my landscaping. Then after the pipe was replaced they took great care to return the clay/dirt, and packed it down well. When they were all done, Rick went over sweeping up my new concrete with a broom. How's that for a complete job. I only wish there was a way to give these guys a 6/5. I have no hesitation to highly recommend them for any ditching/sewer line job. Good people.
